January 31Jan 31 Antidepressant effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are attenuated by antiinflammatory drugs in mice and humans Link to the study: HERE The study suggests that the way in which the body responds to the effects of SSRI drugs is altered by anti-inflammatory drugs. Members may wish to consider this when tapering- NSAIDs are common, over the counter (non-prescription) drugs in many countries and it would be easy to assume that they are harmless. As always, it is worth thinking about whether any other medications being taken might be interacting with a psychiatric medication being tapered. I would (and did) take this into consideration when I had long since stopped taking Mirtazapine and was suffering from severe PAWS- I actively avoided other pharmaceutical drugs to help my body return to baseline. It is not clear cut, but clearly there are interactions between psychiatric medications and other common pharmaceutical drugs, and it is best to keep this in mind.
