I was actually reading a story on SA the other day from a woman complaining about extreme fatigue, depression, low blood pressure, irritability and a bunch of other symptoms. My first thought was, “Hmm, that sounds like it could be low cortisol,” because I’ve known someone personally who had very similar symptoms. I kept reading and, sure enough, she had a bunch of tests done and they found that her cortisol was actually low. Adele Framer then jumped in and said she might have been misdiagnosed in the first place, that a lot of her symptoms could be explained by the low cortisol, and recommended that she actually treat it. She didn’t listen though. She was completely convinced everything was withdrawal, so eventually Adele just stopped pushing the point. The crazy part is that her story was that she had taken Lexapro for something like 5 days and still didn’t feel recovered 6 years later. That’s kind of my point. Withdrawal can obviously cause some insane symptoms, but once you become convinced that everything is withdrawal or PSSD, it becomes very easy to ignore an actual medical problem sitting right in front of you.
