Yeah I hope my experience ad documenting it publicly can help other's at least understand what they are dealing with.

Funny thing with hypochondria, not all my experience, my doc is great and actually pushed to get all or most of these tests done. We have a very mutual medical respect for each other it seems, and he also has a specialty in mental health and knows how important it is for complex conditions like this to systematically rule everything out, it proves to the patient (me) that she or he is indeed safe, and not dying. In my case very healthy otherwise.

A good doc will listen, reason and do all the things necessary to ease someone with history of illnesses which is turn often gives those people health anxiety (aka hypochondria in the old days) and that is just as important if not more than treating the ailment itself.

I have not seen any gastro docs or anything. I did have some stool testing done and found one positive for a type of protozoic parasite which is closely related to animal exposure, which is no surprise given I have lived on a farm for most of my life until more recently, I still go there to my Mum's to see the animals and play with and feed my pet cows regularly.

I am not worried about this, I actually think this is a good thing as some gut parasites are known to be excellent for immune health. And for this particular one, there is no real effective treatment, which is a long course of super strong antibiotics which has limited success anyway. Medical advice is not to treat it anyway as it does not cause issues in the majority of people and is super common amongst those that live or have lived with animals, so a large portion of the world. As said, I think the benefits are likely better than the negatives.

Late 2014-Early 2015 started Prozac for weakness, fatigue and severe SD. Severe side effects, CT after a few months.  (in hindsight this was undiagnosed ASD burnout)

2015 - Multiple SSRIs and SNRI (type?) Anger, agitation, body discomfort (mild parathesia?) and side effects. CT

2015 - Agromelatine  6 months- No effects CT

2016 - 2023 Moclobemide. Partial response without major side effects initially.

2017 - Added Sodium Valproate- No effect just hair loss. CT after 6 months.

2018 - Antipsychotic. (type?) No effects after a few months. CT.

2018 - Latuda Antipsychotic. 6 months. No effects. CT.

2019 - (Jan) - Rexulti. Massive improvement no major side effects.  2mg dose.

2020 - (Sept) - Sudden severe SD after a number of years of being mostly fine and jerky sleep/wake transitions + severe sleep paralysis, injuries to face during sleep, blunt emotions, brain fog, little motivation, tremors in hands, LSD like hallucinations during falling asleep and started to see peoples faces disjointed.

2021 - (Aug) - Rexulti concluded as likely cause. Begin taper over 8 weeks to be sure after psych said to do it over 2 weeks.

2021 - (Nov) - Delayed severe neurological (almost entirely autonomic and motor) WD symptoms after being mostly symptom free.

2022 - (Jan)  - Reinstated and taper Rexulti @ 0.25mg. Did not help WD, 0.125mg May, August 0.0625mg, November 26th 0.03125mg, Feb 27th 2023 0.0158mg, May 22nd 0.0mg. Finally!

2022 - (Mar) - Begin tapering Moclobemide from 300mg to 150mg, August 75mg (last reduction too harsh, moving to 10% per 3, 4 or 5 weeks depending on tolerance).
12th Oct 67.5mg, 11th Nov 60.18mg, 11th Dec 53.65mg, 2nd Jan 2023 48.035mg, 23rd Jan 2023 42.8mg, 13th Feb 39.033mg, 20th March 34.85mg,
2022 - (April) 19 - (May) 17 - rather rapid slide method from 31mg to 19mg (approx 10% weekly) seemed to help with dose side effects.
2022 - Hold 19mg to May 31st, 17.5mg to 15th June,

Split dosing 9mg x 2 twice daily 1 at 5pm and 1 at 7:30pm. Helped with the severity of the adverse reactions with each dose and can be mixed with next dosing to allow a mini slide period. July 11th,  9mg + 7.5mg. July 18th 2 x 7.5mg,  Aug 18th 7.5mg + 6mg, Aug 25th 6+6mg, Sep 23rd 5.25+5.25mg, Oct 27 2023 CT. Drug free!

The lower the dose of the Moclobemide, the worse the dosing side effects got to the point I had to CT before my end goal.

Diagnosed with ASD in mid 2024.

Nah, of course this protozoa is not the problem. In general nothing dangerous. And, of course it's not the answer.

You had a lot of scary symthoms, but at least you have a good doctor. As I see, a lot of people in these situation are having hard time to get any real help by from doctors. They are usually being told that everything is in their head or shit like that.

Well, you were quite motivated to find out anything. But why you didn't have an initiative to visit gastroenterologist, if you had problems with digestion? I mean, your case reminds me of mine in some respects pretty much. And I have to say that, of course, nothing has been found by any specialist (predictable), except gastritis, found out two times by gastroscopy test... I know, your opinion is that the answer is "hiding" itself somewhere in your nervous system, but...

I never bothered as my gastro issues were so insignificant compared to the rest of the WD.

I have had far more severe gastro issues before when I was younger with no known causes that spontaneously resolved when the other known health issues were treated and eventual resolved. I have always seen gastro issues as a symptom of a greater problem elsewhere rather than the primary cause. Those were proven to be right in my past health woes every time. This time around, the gastro issues were nowhere near as bad as I had experienced in the past, so I know it's not really an issue.

What if all the other issues were actually caused by the gut problems at least in some degree? Or even originated there? You say WD was the hardest thing, but what if many of the symptoms were actually related to the gut?

Maybe you saw your gut issues as something too separated from everything else. If we mention sleep, don't you think that gut issue can cause insomnia?

No, exercise or doing too much causes my insomnia. I found they call that runner's insomnia, but it can happen with any form of exercise. But since WB makes everything worse, it does not take much physical activity to induce insomnia for me. And I go through cycles of great sleep, to weird dreams/hints of paralysis, to breathing issues, to no dreams at all, loss of night wood, back to normal and repeat. Only over time the issues at sleep get less and less and the good nights usually get longer. Recently insomnia has been my biggest struggle some nights, too tired to sleep is my only real way of describing what I feel.

My gut it really good these days. I don't even notice it anymore, most days it is totally normal. On my worst days, I get an urge to go 5 min after I wake up in the morning which also lines up with my other symptoms starting up that same delay after waking up, that is rare though. Sometimes it can be a bit on the runny side but no distress or anything negative otherwise.

I don't dismiss the microbiome as potential problem, but I do feel most of whats going on is a destabilized drug dependent CNS more than anything else.
