I took zoloft 20 years, long term it made me sick. I had an adverse reaction which led to CT (jumped off from 12,5mg after 5 months taper from 50mg).

I got very sick and tried to reinstate after 3 months which didn't work. I lived with my perents first 1,5 year with severe withdrawal, feels like neurological injury.

Today I’am 2 years and 2 months off and slightly improved but still in difficult withdrawal injury.

It will take a long time so I am grateful for support and contact with others in the same situation as it is a lonely and difficult situation to be in.

Im sorry to read about your reaction to Sertraline. That was a tricky situation to be in hurts to stay on the drug and now hurts to jump off. Im truly sorry for this experience and my heart goes out to you. Im glad you can see some progress although slow, I think this is a good sign. I hope and very much expect further progress as time passes as that is what is observed in the community as a whole.

 

I also hope this site is useful to you and offers you community and support as you recover.

Much like yourself I too also experienced a pretty severe adverse reaction in the past so I and many others from here and SA share your pain. 

 

It’s good to see you’ve made some improvements and continue holding onto faith and hope that you WILL continue to heal, it may be slow and gruelling but you won’t be like this forever, I promise. Took me a good 7-8 months to really feel like I was mostly back from my ADR from an antibiotic right in the middle of my withdrawal experience, I still have sleeping issues that stem from it today but I’m hoping for a full recovery eventually.

I feel like I’m the only one who didn’t taper more slowly after so many years. But didn’t know you could get injured like this. After my reaction I got scared and went to hospital - they should have been more careful when Dr took me off but they didn’t have the knowledge.

It’s still hard but I’m trying to hang in there. 

I’m thankful to be here where I can talk to others who understand. Just the feeling that you are not alone in having experienced this horrible thing caused by SSRI.

I am pretty active now since I am off of work for the next 2 weeks and trying to establish things here as best I can over from SA. I hope to figure out my signature soon and post some coping information.

Hi Dahlia, thank you for your post on my thread, it's good that you're here too. We both seem to be in protracted withdrawal with horrible symptoms. There seems to be a few others here too in a similar situation to ours. It will be good to chat if you find it helpful.

No you’re not alone. Sooo many folk have come off too quickly or CTd. We pretty much always got poor advice from our doctors. I’d like to say things are changing. And they are. But it’s still very likely you will receive incorrect advice even here in the uk where there has been some improvements many gps and other medical professionals are not up to speed. I hope in time this will change.

 

I’m glad you’ve found us. I hope this will be a home for exactly that. Support and understanding where we might otherwise struggle to get this from other sources.

I didn't start to notice a clear trend towards improvement until nearly 2 years off. I still don't live independently at 2 years and 8 months off.

 

It is good that you have begun to improve, even though it has been a lot of time. I hope the coming months bring more improvements for you and you turn a corner.
