Скиба Діма: Withdrawal from antidepressants

Featured Replies

3 years ago I started taking Sedavit liquid for major depression. I drank it for 1 month and abruptly quit because it improved. After two weeks, my health began to deteriorate. At that time I didn't know that it was withdrawal syndrome. I thought I had relapsed. After a year and seven months, my condition improved slightly by 70 percent. And a relapse of depression occurred. I started drinking the same dose as before and after one week I had something similar to serotonin syndrome. I quickly and abruptly quit. I could no longer work, I could barely leave the house. I couldn't stand it and started taking the same dose again. The side effects became even worse. I quit again abruptly because I didn't know what was happening to me. This time I could barely get out of bed. The dose was 30 ml, 10 ml, 3 times a day. Only then did I realize that it was hypersensitivity. Now I take 1 ml. In the morning and 0.5 ml. in the evening. I am gradually reducing the evening dose. 0.1 times in 2 weeks. I can't even. Calculate how much St. John's wort is in a 100 ml. Bottle. The instructions say that in a 100 ml. Bottle there is 1 part of St. John's wort, not counting other herbs. I ask you to help me do this change because I thought I could do it myself, but when there was a window and I missed 1 dose, I was rejected. Half a year ago. When I gradually increased the dose over 3 months at this dose, the condition improved. But then I kept it for 2 months, the improvement stopped. I have been gradually reducing the drug for 2 months. Now the condition is better than 2 months ago. But it is very unstable. Waves and windows. 3 days ago I cried a lot and thought that it would never end. Today my condition is better and I am afraid of this because I continue to reduce the drug. Now when I am in the window I want to speed up the withdrawal. When I feel like I will never be able to quit it. Please give me advice on how to properly complete the withdrawal. After each withdrawal, the symptoms for the 3rd day (bad mood. Tears. Complete hopelessness.) then by the 10th day they completely disappear. Also Akathisia and anxiety. Symptomatically, if the condition is unbearable, I take Atarax. I appreciate your advice.

I have no knowledge of this liquid. St Johns Wart is stronger and you have to be more careful with it than most people realise so it is possible you are having some issues stopping it.

I am so sorry, sounds like you are having a really hard time of things atm.

Ok, well tapering it slowly seems sensible to me.

I don't think this really matters tbh.

This is good.

My best advice would to not be, don't be in too much of a hurry. The fact you feel better and are having windows is a good sign. We always look for stablity when tapering. So if you can recognise an extended period of time where you symptoms are mild, then I would say you could continue to reduce it.

How much is hard to say. This isn't an antidepressant. I would just listen to your body. Get stable, then reduce an amount less than last time and if it ok keep reducing, if things get too tough hold and wait to settle, then continue more cautiously.

With Antidepressants we say a max of 10% of your previous dose per month. This can be too much and as you go lower you must go slower. So you could take those basic principles and use them here. Tapering Information

Good. That means your taper is going well. If things settle down this quickly. If you feel it is too much reduce the rate of reduction next time.

Im sorry to read. It may be the language/translation. How are you currently?

Atarax is a pretty strong antihistimine that crosses the blood brain barrier and might be more the issue here than your liquid/herb even.

If you have been taking it often I would not stop taking it, but you should consider reducing this down and stopping taking it over time so taper it. Perhaps hold the liquid where you are and start reducing the the Atarax. Maybe not strictly as an antidepressant, but select a % reduction and try that for a month. You can use Micro scales to weigh the pill to keep your dose precise.

In the mean time this is what I would do if I were you:

-Stay Hydrated

-Eat a good clean whole food diet, avoiding processed foods and sugars.

-Stay away from caffeine, alcohol and antihistamines and any other psychoactive substances.

Supplements are to be avoided initially, as they often irritate our nervous systems. Try to get your nutrition through food.

Down the line, you may wish to introduce Fish Oil and Magnesium. Those who can tolerate them have found them calming to the nervous system. Be careful try one at a time and start low and see how you get on should you choose to try them.

A daily walk is very important as much as you can manage, if you can manage it. Gets you your fresh air and Vitamin D does wonders for your mind!

I take Atarax very rarely, half a tablet every two weeks when my anxiety gets worse during the day when my stomach is lowering. I'm worried a lot, and I'll become quite unstable. That is good. I would not take it anymore, it is likley holding back your healing. Have a look at our coping skills section for ideas on how to deal with your symptoms naturally. Distraction and acceptance are key.

Был ли у Has anyone had any concerns about gradually reducing the dose? Many people try to stop, but it doesn't work. I need your support.

Hey

We like to keep all these posts in our own topic rather than starting new topics elsewhere so I have moved this back here. Please post these questions here from now on and only include English as per our Forum guidelines.

No graudal tapering is the only way to safely come off of antidepressants. Stopping them abruptly is potentially very dangerous.
