Windows of feeling better during a cold or fever

Featured Replies

I really wonder, if anyone noticed that phenomena. Please, pay attention and share, if you notice something like this. I heard that people with PSSD have been noticing windows in these circumstances.

Personally, I don't have any meaningful windows and waves, however I noticed that my symthoms become much less intense if my immune system works hard. These days I feel flu like symthoms and I don't know if I am becoming ill or it's due to my deep wound i have now.

Really, it's not just "I feel better", but I have crying spells and I was laughing my ass off just the way I did when i was young. my chemical sensitivity became much much less severe.

Do you mean that you have less intense withdrawal symptoms while you are sick?

I recently had the flu and was in bed for 10 days, it was awful being so sick BUT... I didn't have withdrawal symptoms. I was mainly sleeping/resting and didn't have much stimulation and simply put it down to that.

It would be good to hear from other people who have experienced lessening symptoms while sick & why they think it happens.

Yes, EXACTLY! And the biggest and the clearest breakout was, as I said, my emotional anesthesia did apparently hide itself.

Thanks for your reply!! It looks like the same thing happen to you.

I believe that is must be something related to immune system. I have gut issues and inflammation inside stomach and also duodenum.

One explanation could be that on a daily basis, immune cells works more as it should due to overgrowth of some bacteria species, albeit non pathogenic. And during illness our immune system become more effective.

The "opposite" explanation could be that immune cell working a a bit too much day after day, wean itself during cold or flu out and consequently inflammatory amounts mediates like histamine are present at lower lever for a short while.

This is a question for an immunologist... Does anyone know an immunologist personally? Is it mast cell activation syndrome or **** like that? But it must have something to do with immune system. There has also been noticed that long covid and PSSD have the same etiology in some degree.

Anyone else??

ME! Pick me! This is exactly what I have experienced!

When I was in the thick of it in ACUTE my son started nursery and I got sick over and over again. During those periods the symptoms of my reaction were far far less, to the point that even my very very blurred vision would become almost clear again, it was incredibly strange, it would be interesting to know what the cause of this is, it could well unlock the cure in time!

2011 - Metoclopramide for pregnancy sickness

2016 - 2017 - Citalopram -  doctors “taper” I.e. CT - no effects

2016 - 2025 -various meds, antihistamines 2016-19, PPI 2021-2022, Xonvea for pregnancy sickness 2023-2024, 2016-2023 daily Imodium.

2025 -

March 2025 - adverse reaction to iron infusion.

April 2025 - daily fexofenadine (Allegra).

July 2025 - Citalopram- 10mg 3 tablets taken at night, on the 3rd morning I took Quercetin 500mg supplement and had a terrible reaction possibly “moderate” Serotonin Syndrome. CT from Citalopram.

2025 - July - October acute “withdrawal” or CNS damage from citalopram mirroring CT withdrawal

November - December - improving lots, Windows and waves ☀️

Needing advice on future pregnancies/medication/food sensitivity in my thread!

@SparklingG 💥💥Thanks! Very useful information, because you mentioned an another very common symthom, blurred vision. I have it too, but I haven't even payed attention to this, because everything else is just more annoying, but if I look backward i see that my vision did improved too. Actually if felt like clear my never-existing view came back in every single respect.

Sorry, you don't need to read everything but I had to ask AI to do some search on Reddit to give me something to share. We can say that when it comes to PSSD the pattern is clear, but number 5 and 6 are more related to this topic.

Kinda top sheet, right?

1. Window during a cold

“Again I got a really good window on my 4th day of a cold.”

“This happens everytime when I get sick enough.”

“I had blood flow in my flaccid penis which equals maybe 60% of pre pssd.”

“Also my genitals smell again during the window. I have more libido and also I can feel something down there.”

“Erection quality and orgasms were also significantly better!”

2. Cold/flu and return of libido

“I’ve heard a few people say they get windows of better sexual function when they are ill.”

“I got a cold/flu thing four days ago.”

“Now I’m basically better but still a bit weak, but today my libido is great.”

“I also feel just more like my old self.”

The person specifically wondered whether the improvement was related to the illness or was simply a coincidence.

3. Fever and a “window of normalcy”

“This is the third time this has happened to me.”

“Once I had COVID, second two times probably just the regular flu.”

“That day penis is dead but next day stronger boners, more desire, way better sensitivity, orgasm intensity and even sperm volume.”

“WTF. Please explain this.”

The person subsequently described continued pleasure, stronger ejaculation and a major difference in semen volume and consistency during the window.

4. Stomach flu and genital sensation

“A half year ago I crashed horribly. My genital sensation was completely gone the last six months.”

“Since a few days I have a light stomach flu.”

“Since then I suddenly feel some nice sensations again in my penis.”

“A nice window!”

The person then asked whether other people had experienced similar windows while sick and whether these improvements could have any significance.

5. Fever and complete symptom remission

“I’ve been suffering with PSSD for 7.5 years.”

“I’ve only ever had a five day window of being symptom free after a bad fever.”

“Symptoms returned by day six.”

Another person in the same discussion wrote:

“Each time when I had a cold with a fever, I regained my feelings and my human sensory perception, for as long the fever lasted.”

“It felt like a remodelling of my nervous system.”

“I felt almost like myself again.”

6. Fever, emotions and music

“I had my best windows this last winter when i was sick and had fever.”

“Music sounded awesome and i could feel some emotions again.

When asked whether the improvement remained afterward, the person answered:

“For the fever case no i didn't have any permanent improvements.”

7. Viral infection and an ~80% return of libido

One particularly striking recent account describes becoming severely ill, then experiencing a sudden remission of PSSD symptoms:

“The next day I was suddenly symptom free from PSSD.”

“My libido came back about 80%.”

“No genital pain or numbness.”

“I was able to masturbate and orgasm pain free and felt pleasure from it.”

“I felt happy for the first time in years.”

“This lasted for five days.”

“I woke up on day six to find I had completely regressed.”
