Will mold in my house stop my recovery from pssd?

Featured Replies

I have severe PSSD and cannot function. I have a LOT of mold In my house all over and am wondering if that can stop my recovery

I was admitted into a psych ward at 15 and was put on many antipsychotics and was on an ssri before this. I do not know all of them but i know lexapro (unknown dose) risperidone (unknown dose) Abilify 30mg, and a olanzapine 20mg for sure.

If you have lots of mould in your house I would look to reduce that for sure. As a chippy/builder I can say the most important thing to stop this happening is ventilation. Opening windows in the morning and letting in some fresh air, not drying clothes on radiators or indoors in general and using a little heating here and there to keep the fabric of the building internally dry.

I can't say it will stop you recovering but breathing in mould spores is really not good for you. I have heard that harm from exposure to mould can look like WD sometimes. It's certainly worth your attention.

When cleaning it. Wear a mask and gloves. Shower areas are very prone to mould. There are products you can buy on the market which are great at removing it. There is one I use here from a store in the uk which is very good indeed. https://www.screwfix.com/p/scrubb-blast-off-mould-remover-gel-with-brush-mildew-stain-remover-250ml/421AA?tc=FG3&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1243318&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=907902657&gbraid=0AAAAAD8IdPwyuDqcBWedz678tMdUHwHgR&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIic2Xl83tlgMVSZpQBh1HVxx_EAQYBSABEgL3F_D_BwE

I cannot remove it myself. It was here when my parents bought the house before i was born. and it is $30,000 for a full house clean. I just feel like sitting around hoping for a natural recovery while breathing in a house full of mold is hopeless

You don't need a professional cleaner to remove mould. But I will leave you to do what you think is possible and best considering your situation.
