Telly: Terrible harm done to me by Prozac when I should have been getting treatment for Complex Partial Seizures

Featured Replies

I hope someone can help after aged nearly twenty-six I was forced to take Prozac by a very looking back suspicious GP, and Psychiatrist, when the main symptoms looking back were very bad fatigue and agitation, following on from terrible Lymphatic Cancer care aged sixteen, (which aren't consistent with "Depression ")which little did I know, had caused Complex Partial Seizures which were and still are causing these problems post Lymphatic Cancer, due to a dangerous medicine which should never have been on the market, which was given alongside the anti-Cancer drugs.

The GP and Psychiatrist didn't want me to know I had Complex Partial Seizures, as they were colluding with the Oncologists and Pharmaceutical Firm who caused them with said dangerous medicine given alongside the anti-Cancer drugs for the Lymphoma treatment aged sixteen. I only got to the bottom of things just before I started regular Prozac aged nearly twenty-six due to an Oncologist at the same Hospital breaking ranks and admitting but only.off the record about said medication given alongside the anti-Cancer drugs aged sixteen harming me and others, and then getting me onto Sodium Valproate to briefly successfully treat the Complex Partial Seizures or Complex Partial Status Epilepticus(CPSE), with continuous seizure activity, that is, which I didn't realise I had.

The Sodium Valproate made the other symptoms of Complex Partial Status Epilepticus recede in a few hours(the symptomsi n addition to fatigue and agitation, also due to CPSE), little did I know what they were, called or what was causing them, namely CPSE., until I researched it online over the next year or so. A lot was kept from me.They were, in addition to the aforementioned fatigue and agitation, Derealization where things look foggy and you experience terrible feelings of loneliness, and also a twilight state, where things appear darker than normal, which happens when CPSE occurs in the Temporal lobe. I believe I and others were deliberately misled into believing we had Depression so we wouldn't know we had Complex Partial Status Epilepticus, as you would then with the latter ask questions about the cause, and you could only think then it was that dangerous medication given alongside the anti-Cancer drugs.

The Junior Doctor in Oncology would not speak out until the two Nurses with him and me in the room left the room, in front of the nurses about these matters regarding that dangerous medicine. He fortunately got me on to Sodium Valproate the anti-epilepsy drug which worked very well. It's VERY lucky he did, otherwise I would never have found out. Unfortunately I only remained in his hands, briefly, and the others put me back on Prozac., to conceal the truth. By the time I found out it was Sodium Valproate I'd been given aged nearly teenty-six(by the Oncologist)the Prozac which I'd been forced onto aged nearly twenty-six had affected me long term in just five months, making me prone to bad reactions to Sodium Valproate like agitation, and emotional blunting which I only discovered was called that last year. I  desperately need a work around to safely get back onto Sodium Valproate. Can you help? Especially as I now have second Cancer which should have been diagnosed by Oncologists in 2024, but wasn't as they don't want to know you when you have bad care.

I had an abnormal eeg aged nearly twenty-six detecting Epilepsy at the front left of my brain, which was ignored as it was too embarrassing for them., detecting abnormally low brain wave levels at the front left of my brain. And the Psychiatrist duped me as I wasn't aware of Partial Seizures only affecting a part of the brain without loss of conscious. It's so easily done by them. I hope someone can help.

Welcome to the forum!

This is a volunteer-run, community forum aimed at helping those who are tapering and/or experiencing difficulties with psychiatric medications and withdrawal syndrome. We are not medical professionals and cannot offer medical advice. We simply offer support and opinions which you could use as talking points with a medical provider knowledgeable in withdrawing off psychiatric medications.

The value of this forum is in the community it fosters. We hope that all of our members will be able to learn from each others' experiences, both the good and the bad. To this end, we strongly encourage members to not only document their personal journey on their own thread, but to read and post on other members' threads and otherwise make full use of the resources available throughout the forum.

Please familiarise yourself with the forum rules and the disclaimer located here: Guidelines

Please make sure your signature is kept up to date with your drug history. This will allow members to see some basic information about your drug history and situation so that they may help you best. Information on how to do this is located in the FAQs section above, but here is a direct link: Update Signature

I have removed the text you initially put in your signature because it duplicated the text in your introduction post. Could you please update your signature ONLY with your psychotropic drug history? Please indicate, in particular, when you started taking prozac and at what dose, and whether you are still taking it now.

Once this is done, future posts made by you will have this signature turned on by default. For this reason please keep it clear but condensed as possible.

Please use the format outline here Preferred signature/drug history format

I'm so sorry to read about the tough time you've had recently you will find plenty of support here for sure.

It sounds like you have had a really hard time with the medical system as a whole, and I'm very sorry to hear that. While we only deal with psychiatric drug harm on this forum, there are many other ways patients can be harmed by the system. And it is unfortunately not uncommon for psychiatric drugs to be prescribed to treat harm caused by other drugs.

I think we need to know a lot more about your situation. Are you still on prozac and hoping to come off? Or have you come off recently? Your post suggests you were harmed by taking prozac within five months -- does that mean you only took it for five months many years ago?

This forum's expertise is in helping people to come off psychotropic drugs safely and supporting them through protracted withdrawal. We can't advise you on how to safely start a different psychotropic drug or how to manage a seizure condition. But if you need help to come off current drugs or manage withdrawal symptoms, we are absolutely happy to support you.

In the mean time this is what I would do if I were you:

-Stay Hydrated

-Eat a good clean whole food diet, avoiding processed foods and sugars.

-Stay away from caffeine, alcohol and antihistamines and any other psychoactive substances.

Supplements are to be avoided initially, as they often irritate our nervous systems. Try to get your nutrition through food.

Down the line, you may wish to introduce Fish Oil and Magnesium. Those who can tolerate them have found them calming to the nervous system. Be careful try one at a time and start low and see how you get on should you choose to try them.

A daily walk is very important as much as you can manage, if you can manage it. Gets you your fresh air and Vitamin D does wonders for your mind!

You are very welcome here and I hope you find the site supportive.

Hey @Telly and Welcome to the forum. As Sarah has said could you confirm your drug history by updating your signature using the guidelines linked above. As Sarah has also said this is a support group for those harmed and tapering off psychiatrist drugs like antidepressants and benzos. We can't offer you medical advice nor can we suggest ways of getting back to a drug you think is helpful for you. This is a discussion for you and your health care provider to have. We are here to support you tapering and offer you support for any injury you feel you have sustained. We all understand that not just antidepressants but drugs in general can have a very negative effect on our health. Chippy

I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I only offer my thoughts as support. Please speak to your health practitioner about your care. This is a peer site where we support each other on our taper/recovery journeys.
