February 5Feb 5 Author So I’ve been in PAWS for longer than I want to state here, but does anyone else in paws or acute or tapering get migratory itching at night ? This is literally an itch that ping pongs around the body and the second you itch it, it moves somewhere else and this goes on for HOURS and only at night. No rash, no hives. Seems like nerves misfiring. This has been going on so long now, starting to lose hope it will improve. March 3Mar 3 I have given up on Magnesium supplements. Mag glycinate actually worsened my night sweats and I woke up more anxious. Mag L threonate gives me severe body shivers. Fish oil makes me sluggish, nauseous and depressed. I'm stearing clear of supplements except Vit D, B12 and folate. November 2024 Elvanse for ADHD. Anxiety and jaw clenching, stopped after 4 weeks. Felt fine. January 2025 Medikinet XL Made me depressed and suicidal so stopped after 3 weeks. Felt fine March 2025 Concerta XL Made me depressed and suicidal so stopped after 2 weeks. Felt fine April-May 2025 Amfexa and Methylphenidate instant release, both only worked for an hour so stopped. Felt fine. June 2025 Atomoxetine started slow taper. Immediate hot flushing and feeling sluggish. July-September 2025 Tapered up to 70mg Atomoxetine. Constipation, insomnia, muscle spasms, weird thoughts, mood swings, night sweats, hot flushes, brain fog, dizziness etc October 2025 rapid taper off Atomoxetine. I also had a GA for shoulder surgery the same week I finished meds. Ongoing symptoms ever since, but now also trouble swallowing, difficulty passing urine, muscle twitches, depersonalisation, heavy limbs, emotional blunting, apathy, feeling "wired" and robotic, PGAD. New symptoms February 2026: Nausea and burning head Supplements: B12, folate and Vit D as all were bordering on deficient. Bad reactions to CBD oil, Mag glycinate, Mag L.Threonate and Fish Oil
July 11Jul 11 Author I would like to update my story here. It has been over 3 years I have been holding my vilazodone dose, 3.5 years since CT of trazodone, 2 years since finishing lorazepam taper that was started for SSRI withdrawal, and I am still micro tapering my magnesium glycinate every week. I am still on 3 mg Lunesta at bedtime. From PAWS I developed severe gut issues. Well this led to very bad SIBO and malabsorption. I am still deficient in like every vitamin and borderline anemic with a ferritin of 5. I need iron infusions which I am terrified to get due to my hypersensitivities. I can, however, start on microdoses of vitamins and slowly increase them to therapeutic dose. This has been a lifesaver. The same is said for coming off. Very slow. I cannot take antibiotics for my SIBO and cannot cut out sugar due to withdrawal symptoms intensifying to an intolerable degree, so I am sort of stuck with this issue.I still suffer with severe dysautonomia. I cannot maintain my body temperature. I have bad POTS. This has been ongoing now for over 15 years since my first taper attempt but has gotten much worse since the iron deficiency (common). My BIGGEST UPDATE would be that I am seeing some stabilization but ONLY if I am able to sleep past my cortisol rise in the morning which appears to be from 8-10 am. If I wake up prior to or during that and actually get out of bed, within two days my circadian rhythm shifts and I feel I go into literal acute withdrawals, which is likely just a rapid increase in cortisol, adrenaline and glutamate. I have been able to sort of "biohack" this by staying in bed until at LEAST 10 am. Without this loud surge of stress hormones, I seem to be gaining some stability. This is also stability grown on a glass house though, so keep this in mind. But I have to do what I have to do to survive. I had severe morning symptoms on/off now since my first taper 15 years ago, so I'm not sure my body will ever be able to handle the morning cortisol spike.I have been able to gain 12 lb since this time last year, which has helped a lot of other problems. I still rarely get a day or two of akathisia and if I stop sleeping this all does unfortunately come back. I was able to take about 1 mg of Unisom which allowed me to get 10 hours of sleep and then further recovery a few weeks ago. I am able to use 1 mg of that or hydroxyzine with effect, but it does make me quite sedated the next day. Never more than 1-2 x per week and usually do not use it at all. I still have weird nerve sensations in my brain, throat, and other areas. Neuropathies that come and go. Vestibular issues and visual dysfunction that comes and goes. I have very bad focus issues and still cognitive dysfunction, although I am volunteering for a few groups focused on antidepressant/psych med education and advocacy and seem to be able to handle this most of the time.I would say overall, my case is likely a severe one that resulted from being drugged as an adolescent and cycling through over 20 medications in 22 years. Many cold turkeys, rapid tapers, direct switches and failed cross tapers. I have found many genetic variants that likely increase my susceptibility for PAWS and what has happened to me. I find mindfulness and a change in my spiritual beliefs, along with family and friend support to the biggest drivers for me still being earthside. I hope I continue to see small areas of progress. Will update again in a few months.
