February 6Feb 6 Hi all, tom here. I have followed over from SA. 22 years on seroxat, over the past few months I tapered down to 20mg but felt I had done it too quickly so I have gone back to 25mg and very stable. I will settle at 25 for the next while and try again but for the mean time I am happy to stay at 25mg. Here is my SA Thread: Tom Paroxetine-21 years-30 mgTaper-2025-Apr 27-29.6 mg/May 29-29.15 mg/ Back up to 30mg as having withdrawal symptoms Tapered to 25mg (dec 25) and stable
February 6Feb 6 Hi Irishtom Welcome to the forum! Thank you for posting your intro topic. I have linked your thread from SA above and copied your signature from there for you. Hope that all looks ok? Im sorry you had problems getting of Paroxetine. Yes sounds like you tapered too quickly. It's great you have found stability from up dosing. I think holding where you are is a great idea so you can allow your nervous system time to adjust and settle down from the disruptions your fast taper will have caused. When you are ready (and choose to of course!) you will be in good shape to continue your taper at a safer rate 🙂 I assume you are familiar with all the information about tapering from SA? We have a post here which you may not have seen. Tapering Information Glad you are feeling ok where you are now. February 13Feb 13 Hey @Irishtom It seems that the seroxat supply is starting to run out in the UK. I know this is a pain and something you really don't want to think about but you have to consider doing a crossover to a generic brand at some time. A member just joined here and has had her supply run out and has reacted badly to a straight switch. Please keep tabs on supply...talk to your pharmacist. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/67bde6b1729cf14d438d76c8/Seroxat_DHPC.pdf A careful crossover looks like this: Crossover It is preferable to stay with the same manufacturer of your drug because the active ingredient and filler does vary slightly and can cause withdrawal. Sometimes this is unavoidable. Also, at some point, you may wish to change from tablet/capsule and transition to liquid. Crossover is best done from a stable state especially when going from tablet/capsule to liquid. This is the safest way to do either crossover. For 4-7 days, ¼ of your dose of the new manufacturer or liquid/ ¾ of your dose in the regular form. For 4-7 days, ½ of your dose of the new manufacturer or liquid/ ½ of your dose in the regular form. For 4-7 days, ¾ of your dose of the new manufacturer or liquid/ ¼ of your dose in the regular form. Full dose in the new form. If at any stage, withdrawal symptoms show up, hold till they subside then proceed with the schedule. Edited February 13Feb 13 by LostinCanada I am not a medical professional. March 6Mar 6 Author Latest updates from me: I saw my psychology team today, the first time in 12 months. My psychiatrist, whom I've dealt with for the past 22 years, retired a few months ago. Someone else has taken over. I explained I had managed to taper down successfully from 30 to 25mg. She was actually very supportive of what I was doing, rather than the usual negative shit you hear from them. She realized very quickly from talking that I don't need this medication anymore and have just been stuck on it needlessly all these years. She encouraged me to keep doing what I am doing with my taper and to keep going super slow with it. It was refreshing to hear positive things about tapering, etc., rather than just trying to give me more drugs. I felt very happy and encouraged leaving our meeting today. I don't have a direct answer to this question, but you might want to ask your supportive clinician whether they can prescribe specific doses for you and what options for that exist. If you need to make your own, so be it, but ones accurately compounded by a pharmacy in lab/production conditions are likely to be more consistent, if you can get them. I know many have had success with compounding pharmacies. Unfortunately there has been a number of us who have had major problems with this. A compounding pharmacy is only as strong as it's weakest link. Not all equipment is created equal...most of it is manual and not automated because the amount needed is in small amounts. Myself, Bailey, Sunflower414 and others I can't remember, were all messed up by compounding pharmacies. I used the best one in my city. Bailey and Sunflower used the Outro approved ones. I weighed my compounded capsules and they were all different weights.... getting a good scale has served me well for consistency and accuracy. 🙏❤️ I am not a medical professional. I intend to crush each pill to powder and add little by little to the scales until i get the weight i need to make 4mg. Thanks. March 19Mar 19 Awesome, so even the average works out to 0.089 g for a 5 mg pill. Therefore, 4 mg will be 4/5 or 80%. Therefore 4 mg weighs 0.071 g. I am not a medical professional.
