Jennings: Still Down in a Hole

I'm in a massive wave, neuro emotions, burning mouth, burning wrists, burning stomach.

Just a nasty feeling all around. I'm not even sure how I get through the days when I'm like this.

It really is crazy how when I get in a wave, I feel like I'll always be in a wave and I've always been in a wave.

A whole bunch of psych meds starting in 2014, I am now only on Lamotrigine:

Current dose 6mg(1/26)->5.8(2/26)->5.6(7/26)->5.4(8/26)

Hey @Jennings -- so sorry to hear you're in a bad wave. I empathize with just needing to blindly put your head down and survive the day when you're like this. I'm in a wave myself and I find the "neuroemotions" in particular so hard. It's difficult to distract or use other coping skills when all your brain wants to focus on is complete despair.

It's funny how short our memories can be. I totally agree that when I'm in a wave I can't remember what feeling good is like and I think I'll always be like this. But then when I'm in a window I totally forget how bad the waves can be and I'm shocked at how bad they are when I get hit again.

I hope your wave passes soon.

Do you have white tongue to go with it?

The white tongue is bacterial overgrowth caused by the chronic dry mouth these medications give you. There isn’t enough saliva to balance it.

Mine has been this way for 5 years now, you can brush it off but it just comes back.

@SarahMc thanks for dropping by. Today it continues. Not as bad as yesterday.

The Neuro emotions are a minor symptom of mine but they do appear when I'm in a wave.

When I went cold turkey years ago, my neuroemotions where to much to bear, I had to go back on the meds.

Hang in there, it passes.

A whole bunch of psych meds starting in 2014, I am now only on Lamotrigine:

Current dose 6mg(1/26)->5.8(2/26)->5.6(7/26)->5.4(8/26)

Thanks @Jennings, I’m getting by day by day. Sorry you’re still in it, hope things keep improving for you.

I'm back from my summer vacation and I've gone down another .2.

I am currently at 5.6 mg and I am going to go down .2 until I get to 5mg and see now I feel.

The mouth burning and stomach issues are still pretty bad but I need to keep slowly weaning.

Good to know. Try to not push too hard. If your symptoms are too strong you may benefit from continuing to hold until they settle. Ultimately everyone needs to learn to read their own bodies and work out what their baseline symptoms are. Body sets the pace.

I got the results from my endoscopy. No issues, everything was clear.

I did it for peace of mind. The med taper must be causing the burning mouth and tongue.

I can deal with it as long as it's not killing me.
