March 7Mar 7 Hi There, A few years ago, I discovered hyperbolic tapering. I have been practising this method and gradually reducing my medication over many years. I’ve experienced all sorts of symptoms that come and go. I'm not sure why, but I’m always shocked when new ones emerge, especially with such intensity, despite taking a relatively low dose. After holding my dose for the past three months, I had three options: Recommence tapering: a bad idea, as my body is showing significant signs of withdrawal, or Do nothing: this would have been ideal, but it became increasingly difficult, or Slightly increase: I reluctantly swallowed my pride and made this decision yesterday. I’m so close to the end of this journey, yet I find myself stuck on this poison. A friend mentioned this site to me, so I decided to join and record the final stages of my taper. March 8Mar 8 Hi @AlmostOff Welcome to the forum! This is a volunteer-run, community forum aimed at helping those who are tapering and/or experiencing difficulties with psychiatric medications and withdrawl syndrome. We are not medical professionals and cannot offer medical advice. We simply offer support and opinions which you could use as talking points with a medical provider knowledgeable in withdrawing off psychiatric medications. Please familiarise yourself with the forum rules and the disclaimer located here: Guidelines Please make sure your signature is kept up to date with your drug history. This will allow members to see some basic information about your drug history and situation so that they may help you best. Information on how to do this is located in the FAQs section above, but here is a direct link: Update Signature Once this is done, future posts made by you will have this signature turned on by default. For this reason please keep it clear but condensed as possible. You mentioned you have taken a number of years to taper Bintellix. When did you start? What kind of taper have you done? 10% per month? Im sorry you have hit a rocky patch at the tail end of your journey. It is not uncommon for folk to find those last drops difficult. You must be well versed in dealing with WD symptoms at this point. Where did you learn about all this? On surviving anti-depressants? Were you a member there? I hope this up-dose helps settle things down for you. 10 hours ago, AlmostOff said: A friend mentioned this site to me, so I decided to join and record the final stages of my taper. I assume your friend is the amazing @LostinCanada as she is following you I noticed? Supplements are to be avoided initially, as they often irritate our nervous systems. Try to get your nutrition through food. Down the line, you may wish to introduce Fish Oil and Magnesium. Those who can tolerate them have found them calming to the nervous system. Be careful try one at a time and start low and see how you get on should you choose to try them. A daily walk is very important as much as you can manage, if you can manage it. Gets you your fresh air and Vitamin D does wonders for your mind! March 8Mar 8 I'm sorry you had to increase the dose a bit, I understand why that would be difficult. You need to prioritise your health and wellbeing and all any of us can do is make decisions that support that as best we can, so try not to beat yourself up too much. I hope this place is supportive and helpful for you. Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all. April 8Apr 8 Author Within a week of my first post, I started feeling calmer. That feeling could have been a result of: Being more accepting of the position I find myself in, or The microscopic 0.02mg up-dose, or A placebo effect, or A combination of all three. I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Calm is calm... but I’m leaning towards it being acceptance. Although not part of my original plan (life can be complicated), I now find myself trying to follow the “slower taper” in the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines. This approach is a bit quicker than the tapering I’ve done previously. I usually notice WD symptoms within the first 1-3 days. So far, I haven’t experienced any significant WD symptoms since dropping 12 days ago – maybe a few minor things. That said, I’m not getting ahead of myself, as this process can humble you in a flash! LostinCanada’s words still echo in my mind; our bodies set the pace with tapering. I’ll be sure not to ignore any warning signs. I have some very minor WD symptoms at the moment. I'm due to drop again in two weeks, but I will reassess closer to the date. When people push on and ignore the WD warning signs, that's when they get themselves into trouble.22 hours ago, Wombat said:Thanks for all the help with the micropipette on Cheeky's thread. April 15Apr 15 Hi AlmostOff,Minor withdrawal symptoms aren't too bad if you are able to function. (Any withdrawal symptoms are awful). I always reassess before I do another drop too. Check how I am, hold if necessary. 1 hour ago, AlmostOff said:We all have to learn lessons from those who have gone before us on this journey. May 2May 2 This is really exciting to read. The drop you made is really quite large (which I realise has to be when you are in the lower doses). I was wondering how to go about the really, really low doses. I am so happy to read of your sleep improving. That is really great. Hopefully you are going to be able to slide off these meds without too many ripples when the time comes.I am excited to see you make it to the other side.1 hour ago, AlmostOff said:wombat burrowsI've never seen a wombat burrow before.
