September 26Sep 26 @Steve1 Hello mate I wish you a speedy and full recovery as soon as possible. May god be on your side.Is your activation permanent? Or does it come and go? I seriously consider to make an updose because from all the way down from 100mg to the current 6,52mg I never experienced such bad symptoms. It is very very clearly withdrawal for me so updosing might help. But I also get activation. But not persistent, it settles down after 20-30 minutes. March 2020 Lexapro 10mg | August 2020 Lexapro 5mg (-50%), then stopped abruptly; mild akathisia and aggression for about one week.January 2021 Zoloft 100mg | May 2022 75mg (-25%) | September 2022 50mg (-33.3%) | March 2023 25mg (-50%); libido disappeared and genital sensitivity decreased sharply.July 2024 began tapering liquid Zoloft from 25mg | August 2024 22.5mg (-10%; held an extra month due to feeling unwell) | September 2024 19mg (-15.6%) | November 2024 17mg (-10.5%).June 2025 Zoloft 9mg | September 2025 6.8mg; remained at 6.8mg for several months.28 July 2026 Zoloft 6.80mg; daily reductions: 6.79 → 6.77 → 6.75 → 6.73 → 6.71 → 6.69 → 6.68mg; held for about two weeks because of activation and sleep problems.August 2026 resumed daily reductions: 6.66 → 6.64 → 6.62 → 6.60 → 6.58 → 6.56 → 6.54 → 6.52mg (-4.1% from 6.80mg); holding at 6.52mg since 23 August 2026. | September 2026; Increased dose to 6,6mg to stabilize.
September 26Sep 26 Author Hi @leminaseri I can't be sure if its withdrawal or ongoing activation from escitalopram as the predominant side effect at the moment. As a result I am trying to hold the line at 5mg and hoping the body can stabilise at some stage.I really don't want to up dose ideally as 10mg was horrific 2014- April 2025 Escitalopram 10mgApril 2025 - straight swap to Sertraline 50mgDec 2025-Jan 2026 - tapered off Sertraline 50mg - 0mgJun 2026 - Escitalopram 10mg 9 weeksAug - Escitalopram 5mg

Is this a reasonable timeframe or is he misguided?Unfortunately it can last longer, as all the folk on this forum will attest. Unless you want to believe that this doctor is correct, and everyone here finished withdrawal after 8 weeks, and then we all happened to develop new and mysterious illnesses that continued after that time. We simply don't know how long your symptoms will last. I had a patient recently who was severely ill with WD for 3 months (bedbound and off work), then she recovered quite quickly and is fine now at 6 months off. Then you have folk here like Luke, who is still far from recovered at 3.5 years off, although improving. All you can do is seek as much support as necessary and try to hang in there. Sending you care Xx. November 2024 Elvanse for ADHD. Anxiety and jaw clenching, stopped after 4 weeks. Felt fine. January 2025 Medikinet XL Made me depressed and suicidal so stopped after 3 weeks. Felt fine March 2025 Concerta XL Made me depressed and suicidal so stopped after 2 weeks. Felt fine April-May 2025 Amfexa and Methylphenidate instant release, both only worked for an hour so stopped. Felt fine. June 2025 Atomoxetine started slow taper. Immediate hot flushing and feeling sluggish. July-September 2025 Tapered up to 70mg Atomoxetine. Constipation, insomnia, muscle spasms, weird thoughts, mood swings, night sweats, hot flushes, brain fog, dizziness etc October 2025 rapid taper off Atomoxetine. I also had a GA for shoulder surgery the same week I finished meds. Ongoing symptoms ever since, but now also trouble swallowing, difficulty passing urine, muscle twitches, depersonalisation, heavy limbs, emotional blunting, apathy, feeling "wired" and robotic, PGAD. New symptoms February 2026: Nausea and burning head Supplements: B12, folate and Vit D as all were bordering on deficient. Bad reactions to CBD oil, Mag glycinate, Mag L.Threonate and Fish Oil

Honestly, I wouldn't set a timeline even though I know how difficult the uncertainty is, our mind simply hates it, however, if you set a specific point in time and your expectations aren't met, it can be pretty devastating.Try to focus on the present moment and not look further ahead than today, symptoms will come and go with varying intensities and when the system finishes regulating it will be over, that's a guarantee, but when exactly.. no one knows.I hope those harsh days will be over soon for you, hang in there. 1998 forced on cipramil *no anxiety/depression background*Over the years all kinds of SSRI/SNRI/antipsychotics/stabilizers due to apparently side effects/withdrawalMany attempts to quit over the years with failure (extremely rapid taper followed by doctors' guidens)Current attempt-Paxil 20 mg:6/24 20 mg to 5 mg-severe AKA9/24 Increase to 20-AKA continues10/24 stopped completely-AKA out of control 11/24 Zoloft bridge attempt-25 mg to 75 mg+Seroquel-AKA continued-stopped them CT.12/24 Back on Paxil 10mg (0.1789g)-some stabilization-from here tapered by about 30% each time (don't remember doses and dates).2025 - 7.10 0.0558g (3.11mg)/7.11 3% 0.0541g (3.02mg)/4.12 1% 0.0535g (2.98mg)2026 - 3.1 1.5% 0.0526g (2.93mg)/9.1 8.5% 0.0480g (2.68mg)/16.2 1.8% 0.0470g (2.62mg)/21.3 1% 0.466 (2.60mg)/23.4 2.2% 0.455g (2.54mg)/8.7 21.7% 0.0356.5g (2mg)/15.8 updose by 11.7% 0.0400g (2.23mg)Supplements:Magnesium Glycinate - started 28.5.26 1 capsule 200mg in the morning - Increased brain fog and muscle stiffness - stopped after two weeks.Iron - liquid, quarter of recommended dose - increased anxiety and burning sensation - stopped after two weeks.Saffron - started 8.7.26 1 capsule 30mg in the morning - pretty immediate improvement in terms of terror, body pain and sleep.

It is well understood now that WD and WD injury can last much much longer than 8 weeks. September 29Sep 29 Hello @Steve1 I've had the Escitalopram WD experience also, so I understand what you're going through. It can be a dark and scary place – I get that! It could be likened to a prison sentence! Not sure where you are in the world, but in the UK in the 70s we had a famous TV comedy sitcom called Porridge. The lead character was always giving good advice to his young cellmate about enduring: 'keeping your head down'; 'don't let the nerks grind you down', and simply 'doing your 'Porridge' (sentence). Acceptance I guess, being the point. I often called this to mind as my own Escitalopram Porridge ticked on…Of practical help I found that in those darkest moments, turning the focus of my mind away from what I couldn't control (the random WD symptoms which you just cannot predict) to something that was within my control helped me endure. Either a small 'mindless' task, say like making your bed; vacuuming; washing-up, (I know that can be challenging also!) Or, for me learning to control my reaction to the cascade of symptoms through breathing. Google 'Box Breathing', and tips for calming the Vagus nerve – like pinching the ear lobes! Sounds whacky – but works! Learning to modify our anxiety responses when we can't actually change circumstances and facts, has helped me.
