Hi peterson,

Of course I should have given you a couple of tips. So sorry.

With the syringe: you can put sticky tape around the barrel covering the numbers and that helps with that. Or clear nail polish. I use sticky tape and it works well.

I actually put my tablet in a medicine cup and use the end of a teaspoon to crush it.

Then add the water. I use a 1:2 ratio. I let it sit for 30 mins.

Before I draw the dose I give it a really good stir because some medicine will float to the bottom.

If it is in a container with a lid you can shake it. I draw quickly, after I have stirred, from around the middle of the cup.

The syringes do deteriorate quite quickly. The rubber seal seems to wear out. Im not sure how many uses it does. But you can tell when it gets harder to use.

Just checking, are you weighing the half tablet?

Just reread your thread and saw that you are. Good work.

Hope this makes sense.

Wombat

okay thank you! did you get a fair bit of sediment when drawing out a dose? may switch to 1:2 just to have more water to dissolve it in.

Having pretty strong flu like symptoms most of this morning. May just go back to the pill and consider getting the liquid script in the future, I have a pretty full schedule right now and kind of can't deal with too many symptoms. Is about as bad as a lot of my worst tapering periods.

I stir it very well and draw from the middle. Honestly, I am just hoping it is right. There is heaps of sediment in the bottom. When I take the dose I can certainly taste something. I assume it is some medicine, some filler. But truthfully, for me it is all just a guess. I know others have done it this way and they succeeded. I am hoping it works for me.

If paroxetine liquid was available in Australia I would have likely transitioned to that.

This is the best I can do.

I know @LostinCanada explained the reasoning behind a 1:2 ratio. Something about drug saturation. That is for paroxetine, I'm not sure if it would be different for your med.

I know I took about 6 weeks to transition. A couple of the weeks I had to hold for a little longer as it felt like I had done a small reduction. I did stabilise and then continued with the rest of the transition.

I hope you are able to work it out.

Wishing you the best.

@peterson you can use a suspension solution 50:50 with water to help with the sediment issues. Something like Ora-Plus or Maple Syrup. 1:2 is kinda standard ratio of drug to liquid. Maybe thats for a reason, perhaps Lic has some insight into that. Often it needs to be more dilute just to make the smaller reductions on the lower doses.

For me I think the sediment is fillers, give it good stir, draw up the dose and do the same thing each day for consistency would be my thoughts.

@Chippy and @Wombat okay I'm continuing today. Mostly physical symptoms that come in waves so I rated the day as 3/10 overall. And if it gets worse Ill reevaluate. Switched to a 1:2 ratio and am doing .71ml twice. Put my thumb over the container and shake then draw out the dose, all in about 1 second so I think it's as accurate as can be. Definitely helps to have more liquid I think. Thanks for your help guys ill be fine either way this goes I'm sure.

Okay well, things improving symptom wise. Mostly just a mild headache for some of the day now. Should I continue crossing over at day 7 or hold longer? (assuming I continue to stabilize)

I think if things remain managable it is completely reasonable to continue the crossover, there is of course no reason not to hold for a few days, perhaps it will settle things even more. Up to you either way, sounds like things are going ok though atm..... That is good.

Okay yeah that makes sense. Ill keep posting regularly as I crossover. Symptoms less than 1/10 now. Crossing over is just a lot with all the weighing pills and accuracy, but I know it's necessary and being on a liquid will be easier.

No. That hasn't happened to me, but it know that sort of thing can occur.

For me, I got symptoms as if I had done a drop. So I waited for the symptoms to pass before I did the next step.

Personally, I would just keep an eye on it. Keep doing the exact same thing every day.

Basically you don't want to change things because that can add more symptoms.

But wait for @Chippy's response.

I agree with @Wombat just monitor it. If things stay around a 1-3/10 then this is fine imo. Don't expect zero symptoms just monitor and hold where you need to before making the next step.

Not unexpectedly having some minor symptoms again. And again had some rapid onset of minor symptoms after taking the med. I'm guessing this has to do with a faster absorption of the drug into the bloodstream? I wash everything down quickly with extra water so it should still be absorbing into my stomach. And it would be weird to have symptoms come on even the next morning if I skipped a dose. Just contemplating. I'm in physiology anatomy classes for eventual nursing right now, so if I can learn anything important or in the future I can share here.

Question: do you guys use your 1ml syringe multiple times like 1.0, 1.0, .84?

or do the 10ml syringe and go 2.0, then the 1ml and go .84?

My 10ml is too fat for my drug mixing vial, and I bet drawing out with only the 1ml multiple times is more accurate.
