Kat66: Citalopram withdrawal 2021-?

Featured Replies

Hi @Kat66

Well done for jumping off, it's been a right old long haul for you! But so sorry it's not going well. Perhaps a tiny dose will help calm the symptoms and when you settle you can do the teenie tiny micro dose drops? Might be worth considering.

How were you feeling before you jumped off, had your symptoms totally settled? I know that was the advice from Brass Monkey's thread on SA about jumping off, but I can't help but wonder if we are ever symptom free at that point. I suppose it's different for everyone and maybe some folks do reach that.

What ever you decide, sending you all my love and best wishes

x

Thank you so much @Luke (and @Chippy) for this site. I would be totally lost without the connection I feel to others who are dealing with similar struggles to my own 🙏

  • Hi Kat66, sorry to hear things are tough.  I'm also finding the lower doses are slamming me.  I make such small cuts and hold for as long as it needs but my symptoms can be debilitating.  I found thou

Hello everyone

I just thought I’d post an update. I got down to 0.06mg cit and jumped just over a week ago. Since then I’ve descended into another level of hell I didn’t know existed. All the symptoms have intensified. I can’t quite get my head around it. Apparently I’m in acute withdrawal even though I’ve been tapering for the last 5 years. It’s insane. I feel like I’m basically in the foothills and there’s still the main mountain to climb. I thought I’d already climbed the main mountain with tapering! It’s all mind blowing! Sending love to all my fellow warriors x

Hi @Kat66 so sorry for the torturous journey you've been through, incredibly tough but the process is not over yet, it is possible that the system is giving a serious fight now that you have crossed zero and a little further you will experience significant relief.

Keep surviving bravley, although it's still brutal things will only get better with time.

Praying for easier days for you very soon 🙏

Thanks @Catbird @Luke @Chippy @Mamgu @Fullhealing for your words of support. I appreciate the advice but I’m somewhat reluctant to reinstate at this point purely from battle fatigue! I’m so done with the drug and am going to have some kind of ceremonial chucking of the remaining tablets in the bin at some point. My symptoms before jumping were there but at a stable level, they weren’t fluctuating. I’d held for a month before jumping so I figured it was ok to do what I did. Hopefully as I jumped at a tiny dose this 7th circle of hell won’t last too long.

I understand and respect your choice. Just to say though right now you have some control. One week off it’s fairly easy to ri a rescue dose. As time passes this gets riskier. Pwd is unpredictable and we have no way of knowing how long it lasts even if you come off a small dose.

As I said I completely respect your choices and hope things settle for you soon. 😀

Keep being attentive to yourself @Kat66 now at least you are clean which makes it easier for the system to heal more efficiently, the tiny dose option is still standing for a month or two if there is no improvement.

I'll pray it will ease for you very soon!
