Hi @Tulip are you tapering hyperbolically?

Do you mean am I making a liquid out of the tablets? Yes, I was.

like I mentioned earlier, I had started doing the 10 mg every other night and the the night I no imioramine I felt so much better. The restless legs med worked.. I had no restless legs and I slept better. So after a couple of weeks I decided to just go ahead and do 5 mg a night. I went through the hellacious restless legs like I usually do for a week and and then like other times when I taper it settled down.

I spoke to a pharmacist and they said bc I take the fast acting form of imioramine that instead of making a liquid out of my 10mg tablet that I could just split pill in half and get the 5mg that way. Well, after three nights of that about an hour or so after I take the half if pill (5mg) I wake up restless and anxious. Now what?

  • please do not play with your dose, don't take one day 10mg, one day 14mg, another day a different dose, you are confusing your nervous system and causing it to be worse. settle on a certain dose

  • Keep in mind that dose drops can be much more severe at the lower doses- tolerating a 50% cut at higher doses does not necessarily mean you'll tolerate one from 5mg down. That being said, well done f

  • Thanks, guys. I know you’re right.. I’m still waking up every 2-3 hours with some anxiety.. it happened again last night so I guess my nervous system is still pretty sensitive. I will def stick wit

Hyperbolically means tapering at 10% or lower for each month (or longer if needed) and not doing one day on, one day off. The brain likes stability and by skipping days the concentration of the drug in your body can be wildly erratic.

It’s been 20 days since I dropped to 5mg and I’m still having uncomfortable withdrawals. I’m usually better at this point in time. My restless legs is in overdrive, I’m super sad and have no desire to do anything. I sure hope that things turn around in week 4.

You drop 50% in dose, this is far too much in one go unfortunately. I hope things settle for you soon, you'll need to reduce the rate of taper going forwards. You could try to updose a little to see if it helps. Grab some Gem-20 scales if you don't have any and make sure you are weighing your doses. Consistency is important.

I am finding that my withdrawal symptoms are starting to ease up..phew! Three and a half weeks of awful mood swings. I know that I cut by 50 percent but honestly I’ve done that a couple of times over the years.. I guess I forgot how bad it was. Thrilled to say I’m doing much better. I’ve gone from 250mg to 5mg in about 6 years. Almost there!

That being said, well done for reducing and tapering for so long, and I'm glad you're doing better. I only say the above to keep in mind and be cautious.

Everytime you cause a WD episode like this, it irritates the nervous system more and more, just because you tolerated big cuts in the past doesn't mean you will continue to do so going forward. A slower more gradual taper is the way. As Luke has said, the lower the dose the harder it is to cut. Cautious @Tulip

10% MAX rule :), much easier to taper slowly than try to fix a too fast taper. x

Please remind me that I’m still recovering from that 50 percent cut 6 weeks ago. I just feel so flat and sad.

Stabilization can take time, especially after a big cut like that. But you'll feel better with enough time and patience 💜

When you get a chance, could you update your signature to show your latest cuts?
