One of the reasons I chose a 1:4 (paroxetine in mgai to water in ml) ratio is for more accuracy with a 10ml syringe. Here's my math with a visual example. Example A shows a 1:1 ratio, where a small de

If it helps any, it’s best to not store your diy liquid as a general rule and make it fresh each time. Some ADs do store well but best to check the instructions to be sure. If you wanted to make your drug last longer you could cut the pills and weigh them so you know the weight and so dose of the piece and use that to make a liquid on a 1mgai/2ml water ratio.

I don’t think you’ll have too many issues changing to a liquid. It’s not a shift in manufacture just to how you administer the same drug. Though good to be careful as you are doing.

Compound pharmacy can be yet another variable. Asides from the cost. Youre likely changing brand. Also human error happens way too often. If you want something doing….d.. 😀

I second exactly what you said .

Hi @Wombat! I noticed your thread while perusing the latest introductions and noticed you've been on paroxetine a good long time like I have. 32 years, myself. You're farther along in your tapering than I am, and I'll be following your progress. It sounds like it's been quite manageable for you. I've been doing pretty well also. Some symptoms like foggy thinking, tinnitus and a little morning dread, but nothing too extreme. Trust me, I have been to the deep, dark depths and am definitely trying to avoid going there again.

I've tried different tapering schedules and most recently settled on 1.5% every 2 weeks. It seems my body doesn't like a taper two weeks in a row. I'll up it to 2% if all goes well. I'll also eventually transition to making my own liquid taper mixture down the road. The Gemini 20 just doesn't measure precisely enough at the lower doses.

I will definitely be following you and hoping to see great progress on your part. I wish you the best. Welcome aboard!

Hi Cheeky, I'm glad the liquid works for you. I am hoping it will for me too. So far so good, although I have only taken my first transition dose last night. 🙂 I'll keep to this schedule for a week, and then do step 2. (6mg tablet and 2ml (4ml by syringe) liquid). So long as there is no bumpiness.

I am quite adverse to withdrawal, so any bumpiness and I hold 🙂

Hi @gardengirl2, Thank you for the welcome. A number of years ago I believe I reached tachyphylaxis (but had no idea). My anxiety was beyond extreme. Basically not functioning at all. I was on the highest dose possible (60mg). 2 Psychiatrists said there was nothing more they could do for me (which at the time I thought was crazy - and now am I ever glad they didn't think to swap meds or add more).

So, someone suggested I reduce the meds, (which I also thought was crazy - surely I would only get worse), and it was hard, as I was reducing by 10mg per drop. Managed to get to 30mg over 6 months, stabilised very happily at that level and decided never to alter the medications again. (For, as you know, I have a chemical imbalance!!!).

After 2 years of holding I believe tolerance was starting to occur again and I found SA. Followed their protocols, and started with a little 5% reduction. But no, that was too high. Tried the brassmonkey slide, too fast.

I think l am a lot like you, where I do a tiny drop (no more than 2%) and have to wait. Sometimes a week, but more often than not, 2 - 3 weeks.

I have not had that same level of anxiety that I lived with when on 60mg. So I am mostly able to function. My go to symptom now is inner tremors, which I have never ever had. So I absolutely know it is a withdrawal symptom. Whenever that shows itself I know to hold and wait for everything to calm down.

I have had tinnitus for years and I have always wondered if it was brought on by the paroxetine. I am mostly able to ignore it.

Isn't the morning dread the absolute worst. It is so hard to get out of bed when that happens.

I don't sleep as well as I used to, but I am not complaining. I mostly average about 6 hours. Sometimes less, sometimes more. But I am able to function so all good.

I am glad you are going OK at the moment. Going very slowly is the best way to go, and give yourself a couple of long holds every now and then, especially if things are a little busier than usual.

The unpredictability of it I find very frustrating too. I quite often avoid making any plans in the event that I just won't be feeling up to going when the time comes.

So slowly, slowly we will get there.

4ml by syringe

A DIY liquid has worked very well for me over the years. Syringes are fine for larger amounts, although when you are AlmostOff, accuracy, even with a 0.5ml syringe, is questionable.

If you stick with syringes, buy a box of the same brand, as 4ml from one brand is not exactly the same as 4ml from another brand. There can be slight differences.

Also, put some sticky tape over the measurement markings on the syringe to prevent them from wearing off over time.

A micropipette is a very helpful device for more accurately measuring both the dilution and dose.

All the best...

Hi AlmostOff,

Thank you for the tips.

I was considering a micropipette. I thought I would start with the syringes just to make sure I can actually transition to the liquid. And as I get lower I will likely use a micropipette.

At this moment I have ordered from the same company a selection of 1ml, 2.5ml, 5ml and 10ml syringes. Once I work out exactly what I am doing I will get a box of what I need.

I was wondering if you have taken a look at this micropipette?

It is the one Dr Horowitz used for his taper and I know another member that loves his. I will be crossing over to liquid at some point and I am planning on using that micropipette for measuring water and measuring doses.

Sending hugs from up north. ❤️🙏

I am doing pretty well.

First step of transition seems to have gone well.

I'll start second step on Tuesday (6mgai + 2ml = 8mgai).

I have been looking at the micropipette. I have to do some research on how they work. And get my head around ul instead of ml. I know once I am in a rhythm I will be right, it's just starting it.

I think they are also different sizes? So which ml should I be on to start using it is also a question.

The things we have to learn!!!

When you say measuring water, would you use the pipette to measure out 40ml water (or whatever ratio you are using)? I am right now using a medicine cup. I weighed 40ml water in the cup and marked the cup at the exact 40ml point. I think doing this consistently should work fine.

Yes I would. That is what my friend does. Of course, I am speaking theoretically since I don’t have one yet.

I am not a medical professional. My comments are based on my personal experience and information on SA.

Actually, I had been keeping an eye on Barbx's thread at SA as we were on the same dose, so I thought I would try and follow her lead. I was going to try and dry cut for quite a while, but my scale is only 3 decimal places, and it was getting frustrating trying to make it say the number I wanted it to say 🙄 so I am hoping this will be simpler in the long run.

Hope you are having a better day today.

Thinking of you

@gardengirl2Thanks Jamie,

I appreciate the cheer squad.

I always appreciated watching others and how they dropped or transitioned etc. So I thought I would try and write clearly what I am doing in the event someone wants to see what happens.

It also keeps a very clear record for myself.

Hope you are doing well today.

Maybe, but going faster than you can tolerate is definitely not good.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Perhaps you should consider this post an artistic work of fiction written for entertainment purposes.
