If you've ruled out physical issues, its a matter of learning to handle the behavioral issues so you can relieve the physical symptoms. Have you looked into CBT or other coping strategies? July 8Jul 8 Author But I dont have behavioral issues, ıts all physical. I never had serious mental issues that cause physical harm. October: Essitalopram 5mg for 4 or 6 days before stoping all together After 27th of November I re-started 5gm Suddenly Anhedonia in the first week of December I take Essitalopram 5gm for about 16 days I take two or three 10gms before stopping cold turkey (I apologize the timeline is very vague because my memory is really awful lately)
July 8Jul 8 I mean behavioral as in negative thoughts and ruminations. If there is no physical cause for your symptoms, then they may be rooted in anxious thought patterns. The brain can cause all sorts of physical symptoms. Deal with the negative thoughts and you should see a decrease in physical symptoms. July 8Jul 8 Just now, Billford81 said:But I am ill all the time and I was a normal, cheerful person before I started having physical issues. Then you need to ask yourself where the symptoms are coming from. If there is no physical cause, why do you feel ill all the time? If you think your doctor is missing something, you have every right to get other opinions. But your previous posts mentioned emotional issues. Many people on this forum experience physical issues because of their anxious thinking. Not ruminate and b. Don’t feel anxiety. @Billford81 what physical symptoms do you experience? Did they start on the meds and in withdrawal? Or already prior to the meds ? 12 august 2025; 5mg fluoxetine 30 August 2025: 10mg fluoxetine 11 september 2025: 5mg fluoxetine 19 september 2025; 2.5mg fluoxetine 2 oktober 2025: 0mg I had to cut my pills in half and quarters, so and don’t think I had accurate dosages.

The physical symptoms of Withdrawal are, in my opinion, due to nervous system dysregulation due to faulty neurotransmitter signalling. I can't help but think that this advice might lead people to feel like WD should be more in their control, and feel like a failure when strategies like CBT don't work.I can only speak for myself (trained in 2 therapy modalities and have completed yoga teacher training), that my symptoms are random, unpredictable, not in my control, and not modifiable by any cognitive, psychological or physical strategies. November 2024 Elvanse for ADHD. Anxiety and jaw clenching, stopped after 4 weeks. Felt fine. January 2025 Medikinet XL Made me depressed and suicidal so stopped after 3 weeks. Felt fine March 2025 Concerta XL Made me depressed and suicidal so stopped after 2 weeks. Felt fine April-May 2025 Amfexa and Methylphenidate instant release, both only worked for an hour so stopped. Felt fine. June 2025 Atomoxetine started slow taper. Immediate hot flushing and feeling sluggish. July-September 2025 Tapered up to 70mg Atomoxetine. Constipation, insomnia, muscle spasms, weird thoughts, mood swings, night sweats, hot flushes, brain fog, dizziness etc October 2025 rapid taper off Atomoxetine. I also had a GA for shoulder surgery the same week I finished meds. Ongoing symptoms ever since, but now also trouble swallowing, difficulty passing urine, muscle twitches, depersonalisation, heavy limbs, emotional blunting, apathy, feeling "wired" and robotic, PGAD. New symptoms February 2026: Nausea and burning head Supplements: B12, folate and Vit D as all were bordering on deficient. Bad reactions to CBD oil, Mag glycinate, Mag L.Threonate and Fish Oil
July 8Jul 8 Have you thought about whether it could be BPPV (ear crystals)? @Billford81 I’ve had that in the past…. Made me sooo dizzy. Did the Epley-manoeuvre and I recovered immediately.. just a suggestion!

And look him/her in the eyes! Because I noticed that they tend to avoid looking when they feel helpless to help you, rather than just saying it. They might even be frustrated, as if it were your fault that they don’t know. Forget it in those cases. If possible, take several opinions.Tell him that he has no right to steal even 1% of your current well-being with dangerous drugs. July 9Jul 9 @Billford81 You are wise to not take any more drugs.Couple of things.Anxiety can totally cause physical symptoms outside of WD. If you have had these prior to taking drugs and there was no physical cause for them, then likley they were manifestations of anxiety at that time. That does not mean you were broken however. You were and are just a human. These responses either physical or mental are not something that needs to be fix with a drug. Diet, exercise, counselling, life style changes, switch of job, adjusting time spent around toxic people are just some of the ways to help address this. THESE DRUGS ARE DANGEROUS!Once harmed by one or more of these drugs, what I have said above becomes more complex. You can experience physical symptoms from WD 100%. They can be mental related in the same as above. So you may find what triggered you before triggers you more now, or more easily. You can also have new symptoms in WD not just worsening symptoms. What was already there, and what was worsened by WD, and what was started by WD is down to you to decide.Bottom line, it really it does not matter. Your nervous system has been made more sensitive and probably harmed by drugs. You need time. Good healthy diet. No more Psycho Active Substances at all. So don't drink. No Caffeine. Just clean living. Focus on keeping stress low. Perhaps some CBT or therapy would not hurt to try. Time is your friend. But there is absolutely nothing to fix here with drugs. :) I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I only offer my thoughts as support. August 17Aug 17 Author They say it gets worse before it gets better, I hope thats the case because I have feel the worst I have ever felt in Anhedonia October: Essitalopram 5mg for 4 or 6 days before stoping all together After 27th of November I re-started 5gm Suddenly Anhedonia in the first week of December I take Essitalopram 5gm for about 16 days I take two or three 10gms before stopping cold turkey (I apologize the timeline is very vague because my memory is really awful lately)
August 17Aug 17 Hello @Billford81 ,I am also suffering due to Escitalopram and I just opened the AR forum to read about other experiences with Anhedonia because it has been so unfair and so annoying to live so emotionally blank for this short while already. Sending you well wishes and a speedy recovery. You’re never alone. 03 May 2026: 5 mg of Escitalopram. Immediate adverse reaction.(No previous experience with SSRIS, SNRIS, or MAOIS)
August 17Aug 17 Author You too @MourningDove.Its kinda sad that "Anhedonia Gang" is close to a dozen in the forum now, so many of us suffering in nothingness so senselessly. I was doing well all things considered a couple of weeks ago but even then...It feels so weird to care so little about your loved ones, my mother has been staying at hospital for a couple day (thankfully nothing serious) and I dont miss her at all, when I visited her I just felt nothing she felt like a stranger. I’m glad it’s nothing serious, and I want to extend some extra thankfulness towards the fact that I truly believe this horrible state is temporary for us. I also have some waves and windows where I feel okay-ish, only to go back to feeling little of anything towards things so important to me. I’ve attended a week long funeral service along with two immediate family medical emergencies that required hospitalization within the last month, and I was literally just so blank-faced through it all. It feels so nonhuman! 03 May 2026: 5 mg of Escitalopram. Immediate adverse reaction.(No previous experience with SSRIS, SNRIS, or MAOIS)
