Sonia2: Protracted withdrawal citalopram since 11 months off

@Chippy Thank you, I did try delaying it this morning but I felt so tired I took it later so that I could function. I think my cns must be too sensitive right now to mess around with it. Just like antidepressants, you go on these sites that tell you you can come off in so many weeks but in reality it doesn't always work like that. I've been reading posts on Reddit and many have taken months and even years to finally rid of caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I shouldn't expect it to be easy after all I'm changing a lifetime of usage. Much appreciated.🙂

I agree I think it might be one to taper much slower. It’s crazy isn’t it as caffeine is such a common drug and as a result we underestimate its effects.

  • @Fullhealing, @Marina Thank you both, it's the warmest day of the year so far and I've had to go to bed with my socks and cardigan on to get warm, really weird! Hope you're both doing ok. x

I’m sorry you’ve seen some setbacks @Sonia2, piling normal life stuff on top of WD can be so hard. The heat out there sounds absolutely brutal. I hope this wave passes for you soon 💜

Hi, I came across a UK website for withdrawal coaching after reading my message from @Chippy , thank you, regarding trying a withdrawal coach. It's Barbara Bell Coaching, maybe someone here has tried

Certain people seem to be considerably more sensitive to caffeine than others.

It's all about listening to your own body.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Anyone else struggling in this heat? I seem to be getting heat anxiety which is making my symptoms worse. I'm wilting right now, shut myself away in the bedroom , windows and curtains closed with the fan on full day and night. Apart from feeling so hot and sticky it's made me dizzy and feeling faint like. My heart has been thumping and my head is starting to ache too. It's hotter here in the UK than Cyprus, can you believe! Sorry for the rant. Best wishes all.

That's a good idea and something to consider. They're a bit pricey but if this is the new norm then it will be worth it. Hope the temperature becomes bearable for you🙂

@Fullhealing Sorry the heat is affecting you too. It's cooled down a little now, I can actually feel some cool air from my fan instead of warm air. Headache abated too. Hope the heat doesn't affect you too badly. Take care.😊

Yep, I've always struggled in the heat but chuck in the squeezies too, it's a bad combination for sure! Even my heat-loving dog is fed up, bless him!

Trying to sleep is the worse, and we know lack of sleep isn't helpful when we're in withdrawals. I've been drinking lots of water and taking a couple of showers a day and before bedtime. I have a fan but yeah, it's moving warm air about, at least it makes things more comfortable than without the fan.

My thermometer was on 35C yesterday, I don't want to see what it'll show later today, it's meant to be even hotter 😬

Still, only a couple more days to go!

Stay cool 😊

xx

@Mamgu Hi, yes bracing myself for another hot day lol. Making the most of the morning air before closing myself off again. At least my head is clearer today.

I saw your post re antihistamines, I never use them but if they work for you all well and good. Like you say, the heat is probably affecting withdrawal symptoms, possibly pain killers too if you are using them more frequently for your rib injury? Sounds very uncomfortable, my husband ached for weeks after he broke two ribs. Nothing he could do about it, just pain killers and waited it out.

My dog doesn't like the hot weather, we bought him a small paddling pool, he's curious but he won't go near it, probably thinks we're tricking him into having a bath.

Good to hear from you, hope your injuries heal soon xx

Morning @Sonia2 Sorry you are in for another warm day, Im in the North East and it has dropped to 19c today so much better than yesterday. I hope you are ok, I think you might be right about getting some AC, when I lived in Berkshire I remember how warm those night were, things seem to be only getting hotter too, perhaps time to re think things here in the uk, we don't have alot of AC in homes do we.

@Chippy It's 22° at the moment in South East Wales but rising to 28/29° later and for the next couple of days. I think it will be probably hotter than that though, it was yesterday. I could cope with 19° but not much more these days.

Hope you're doing ok, I tend to forget that moderators and administrators have symptoms too because they are always so helpful and encouraging to others.

Yes I agree, AC is something to be considered for the future, I'm doing some research on it, so many to choose from.

Best regards 😊

Oh gosh I am sorry to read that, I know a lot of the UK have some very high temps to deal with this week, 26c here yesterday, about as hot as it ever gets luckily. 19c is about perfect, I think 22c I can cope with then I start crying! 😁

Thanks for asking, plodding along as ever, quite a bit of exhaustion today despite a good bit of sleep last night, would appear some of us can be unconcious but not feel the benefit of it! Ups and downs of healing from this injury! We will all get there eventually!

Good luck on the AC shopping! I would be doing the same if I lived further south for sure!

@Luke Wow that is hot! A little cooler today here too, expected to reach 27° although yesterday it got to 30°, worse by early evening I thought. Hopefully will be on the decline after today. I wonder if it would bother us so much if we weren't in withdrawal, ah well!🤗

Hi @Sonia2 just checking in to see how you’re doing?

Hi @Sonia2 just checking in to see how you’re doing?

@Kat66 Hi again, so nice of you to ask Kat, not doing great I'm afraid, just bearing up. I'm in protracted withdrawal and have had a resurgence in symptoms since withdrawing from caffeine a few months ago. Usual withdrawal symptoms amplified by caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I try to do what I can every day but have to pace myself. It's so easy to let your mind wander into the abyss so I have to try to remain focussed and positive. I want to do more but have to accept the way things are for now.

I have replied to your update on your thread too.

So good to hear from you Kat. Sending positive healing vibes to you.x🙏🙂

Hi @Sonia2 I was going to check in with you but Kat beat me to it! It's such a frustrating situation to be in, I hope you can see some improvements from a year ago? I love how you accept your situation and try to remain positive and stop going into that abyss, you are an inspiration to the rest of us.

Sending you some of my positive vibes to top up yours 😊

Oh no I’m really sorry you’re not doing so well Sonia. One of my healing buddies suggested we all try to picture each other fighting through withdrawal so we don’t feel so alone. I thought that was really helpful. How’s your husband? You’re right all we can do is accept where we are and adapt. Take each moment as it comes then the next. Have you had any windows yet, even small ones? Thanks for the healing vibes, sending some right back xx

@Mamgu Hi, sorry to read your still having a bad time with symptoms. Seems like your fall has set you back somewhat. It takes time to get back to baseline when that happens, it does for me when I get ill or stressed out over things. Recently I've had a plumber who let us down after giving us a date for work be carried out and I had to search for another. I've been waiting over a month for a carpet to be fitted. Having been given a date for fitting a fortnight ago we took our carpet up so we are walking on underlay on the stairs with nails poking up. These things would not normally bother me so much but they take their toll on me these days.

I was coping ok, getting on with chores, dog walking etc, but since reducing caffeine it's set all my symptoms off again, a similar situation to yours. So I guess I was making some progress prior to this.

I try to remain positive but I still seek reassurance sometimes, I look at testimonials on line on protracted withdrawal and caffeine withdrawal.

I hope all goes well with your doctors appointment. I sometimes think I should go but I hate going because I know she does not accept that withdrawal can go on for so long, she told me so. I had my bloods done around four months ago and they were ok.

Hope the next time you post you're feeling much better.

Take care xx🙂🙏

Hi @Kat66 Thank you. Yes it's been a struggle but it is what it is. My husband hasn't been too good lately, his hormone injections are messing up his blood sugar levels so he's had to go on insulin. His levels are beginning to steady out after three weeks on insulin but he 's aching from head to toe, dizzy a lot of the time yet surprisingly he can still drive locally on better days. His insomnia is not helping.

Yes, I agree, I think we grasp at anything we find helpful. I find reassurance from reading other posts with situations similar to mine, for me if helps take the fear away. Some I cannot read because they trigger me and my heart goes out to them.

I hope you have a better day today Kat, sending my best wishes to you for continued healing?.xx🙂🙏

Hi guys,

Having a really rough week following a course of amoxicillin for a gum infection, weird dreams, dizziness, anxiety, feeling wired, lethargy to name a few. I seem to cry a lot, some of it self-pity I know, also if I see or hear anything upsetting on tv. I don't watch much tv and when I do it has to be on my tablet, can't watch a big screen. I guess it's a setback, I've experienced this before after antibiotics. The 'what ifs' have been creeping in but I should know better from experience.

I was hoping for improvement after quitting citalopram a year last January at O.3mg. It doesn't sound like much of a dose but I now realise it was too high a dose to jump off at. Reducing caffeine has also ramped my symptoms up, there seems to be one thing after another.

Sending best wishes to all, and to Luke and Chippy who have been going throughout It too from what I have read. Upwards and onwards I guess. xx🙂🙏

Hi @Sonia2 I'm sorry you're struggling this week. It's so hard when we have other health issues come up in withdrawal, or just regular old life stressors that set us back. I hope it's a short setback for you and that you see some solid overall improvement soon. Sending strength and healing your way 💜
