AAoffZ_2: Snail’s pace Sertraline taper post kindling

Little update. I have not been well. Based on my symptoms I’m pretty sure I missed a dose. I feel acute. Really horrible aka at times mixed with anxiety and exhaustion. It started about a 2 days after my missed dose. And since I was only a month out from feeling better from the essential oil issue, I feel like my nervous system just gave out on me 😭

I cannot wait for some relief. I don’t know how long this will last, but since last Wednesday, I’ve only had 2 one day windows (this past Wednesday). Wednesday was pretty decent. Yesterday and today have been horrible.

Sorry about that @AAoffZ_2 happened to me too many times, though quite a painful blow it was short-lived so hopefully for you as well 🙏

1998 forced on cipramil *no anxiety/depression background*

Over the years all kinds of SSRI/SNRI/antipsychotics/stabilizers due to apparently side effects/withdrawal

Many attempts to quit over the years with failure (extremely rapid taper followed by doctors' guidens)

Current attempt-Paxil 20 mg:

6/24 20 mg to 5 mg-severe AKA

9/24 Increase to 20-AKA continues

10/24 stopped completely-AKA out of control

11/24 Zoloft bridge attempt-25 mg to 75 mg+Seroquel-AKA continued-stopped them CT.

12/24 Back on Paxil 10mg (0.1789g)-some stabilization-from here tapered by about 30% each time (don't remember doses and dates).

2025 - 7.10 0.0558g (3.11mg)/7.11 3% 0.0541g (3.02mg)/4.12 1% 0.0535g (2.98mg)

2026 - 3.1 1.5% 0.0526g (2.93mg)/9.1 8.5% 0.0480g (2.68mg)/16.2 1.8% 0.0470g (2.62mg)/21.3 1% 0.466 (2.60mg)/23.4 2.2% 0.455g (2.54mg)/8.7 21.7% 0.0356.5g (2mg)/15.8 updose by 11.7% 0.0400g (2.23mg)

Supplements:

Magnesium Glycinate - started 28.5.26 1 capsule 200mg in the morning - Increased brain fog and muscle stiffness - stopped after two weeks.

Iron - liquid, quarter of recommended dose - increased anxiety and burning sensation - stopped after two weeks.

Saffron - started 8.7.26 1 capsule 30mg in the morning - pretty immediate improvement in terms of terror, body pain and sleep.

Do you remember how long it took to stabilize? I know everyone will be different. I’m just feeling horrid, and looking for hope. It’ll been 10 days since I missed the dose, and it got really bad just 2 days ago.

@AAoffZ_2 hard to frame it as it varies, there were times it was a painful blow that took a while, a week or two maybe, other factors around may have fueled it even more and times it barely tickled, try not to stress about it, lots of fuel for the fire.

So sorry you're suffering so much atm but you'll be fine, you can handle it, hang in there xx

@AAoffZ_2 Sorry to hear you are having a rough time again. I hope things settle down soon after this missed dose, they always do, it can vary how long it takes, those windows you mentioned are a great sign, your body is mid sorting all this out for you. Trust it. xxx

Thanks for the encouragement. Things are very turbulent. Up and down daily waves of panic, fear, anxiety and agitation. Evening windows which is par for my nervous system course.

Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since my missed dose. Had some really gnarly days, but I’m hanging in there thanks to my supportive buddies and coping skills.

I was still sensitive to everything when this happened (coming out of essential oil toxicity), which I think it why my symptoms are so violent from a single missed dose.

I plan to hold for six months after I come out of this… I believe my system is very slow to heal…because YIKES.

Having a couple of 1 day windows per week after missing doses is good, it would suggest that you haven't totally destabilised yourself.

Hopefully you continue to stabilise in time.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Hello all. Time for an update. It’s been approximately 6.5 weeks since my missed dose and I’m still having waves and windows. Had one solid week this month and now I’m back in a wave for the last week and a half. I’ve had some really normal days, but I’m not back to normal yet.

Please please please take precautions to not miss your doses, people! Especially when you’re in a window and feeling better. That’s what happened to me for sure.

I also will note that I think the tea tree oil destabilized me pretty heavily back in February, and I only had one stable month before the missed dose. So this is definitely taking longer to come out of due to that.

Any encouragement is welcome.

Hang in there, everyone, we’ll get through this.

The environment we live in is a minefield of normally innocuous chemicals that can cause great distress for those of us with sensitised nervous systems.

It's near impossible to find a balance between tapering and withdrawal symptoms when you feel like you're constantly fighting reactions to other substances.

I don't even know what the solution is. Every time I feel the need to try and taper I seem to fold after a day due to some symptom flare up.

We are stuck in protracted withdrawal purgatory.

Trying to get off sertraline since 4th April 2021.

I am still alive, that is probably the best that can be said about this situation. I have had a decrease in akathisia and jolts the last few weeks, which has been nice.

Hope you are okay, was your last drop really a year ago?

This is good to hear. Any reduction in symptoms is a break.

Six months since I’ve made a .3 mg reduction.. I was stable for 6 months last year. August 2025-January2026. Then I had a violent reaction to using full strength tea tree oil consistently for a month directly on my skin at the end of January. Recovered from that in 6-7 weeks. I had a Month window in April. Then I missed a dose beginning of May which I’ve been battling waves of akathesia, anxiety and terror ever since.

My nervous system is incredibly sensitive to everything, including fortified foods. I’m not sure where to go from here. Whether to do an extended hold and see if it improves over time as I did have a 6 month period of stability with no major reactions to anything… or begin tapering when I reach stability.

Oh, I misread the date as 12th June 25.

I don't think there is a correct answer to be honest. You just have to keep crawling forward, and do whatever feels right in each moment. That's all I've done for the last 5 years.

I just overhauled my entire diet to see if it helps at all. No difference thus far. My advice would just be find foods you tolerate, and that provide adequate vitamins/minerals, and stick to it.

Cutting out processed junk and refined sugar is a good thing for your brain and body.

I wish I could report a nice window, but I’ve been plunged into the worst wave since acute. It’s long, grueling and I have only had a 1 week window from June 6-14 and a two day window exactly a week ago.

Fear, anxiety, sadness, hopelessness, agitation… these have all been cycling up and down. Been getting short breaks here and there. Usually in the evenings. But man, this is no joke.

Looking back at my notes from prior drops, the worst of any kind of dose change hits lightly for a few weeks (intrusive thoughts, anxiety) and then slams me about 4/5 weeks later (akathesia, panic, terror), which I believe is the thick of what I’m in now. I believe I will heal from this major, major set back. Trusting that the Lord has me and he’ll use this for my good.

Any encouragement welcome.

Sorry to hear @AAoffZ_2

Some of us seem to be so sensitive to the smallest changes. Just try to stabilize...to me, that means the wave/window pattern has to lessen and we have to reach WD normal.

Right here with you in this fight. ❤️🙏

Sorry to hear @AAoffZ_2 , but you know that those ups and down are important for the system to heal.

Hang in there. As time passes by , they will become shorter and weaker. It's hard to know when. But keep moving forward. All will pass again....

08/01/2009- Klonopin 1mg, but took only .25mg when needed, and end up taking every day for 3 years. 08/01/2012 - Paraxotine 20 mg

12/2024- reinstated 5mg (.0740g)after cold turkey. First tapering 07/01/2025 = 1.2% , 09/01/2025 - another 1.4%. 10/01/2025- 4.79mg (.0716g) holding until further notice........04/17/26 resumed taper 0714g (4.78mg). 05/20/2026- .0712g (4.76mg, .28% cut). 06/09/2026- .0708g (4.73mg .56% cut). 06/30/2026 - .0706g (4.72mg .33%). 07/28/2026 - .0700g (4.68mg, .85%).09/01/26 - .0698g (4.66mg, .29%).

I am so sorry to read @AAoffZ_2 you are right to believe you will heal, even if the set back feels major now, healing is happening. I truly believe increased symptoms mean more healing. xxx

Had almost a full day window yesterday (12 hours). Unfortunately I was plunged back into destabilized prison in the middle of the night with horrible restlessness and barely slept. My brain needs to hurry up and figure all this out 😭

Sorry to post so much. I can’t believe how awful this set back is. I had a whole month where I stabilized from the oil issue, the entire month of April was completely baseline. Then missed the dose. Which I realize was very back to back destabilization, and is likely why it’s so very bad.

Looking for hope. I feel like I’m at the end of my rope. 7.5 weeks since I missed the dose. Symptoms are morphing all the time. One day of this one day of that. Window day here. Having windows in the evenings which gives me some hope.

I’m scared I’m in some horrible tolerance situation, although I had a 4.5 month window last year and all of April. I’m just afraid the drug has turned on me. Those of you who have this fear, how do you cope?

For myself, I had to accept that whether I am in poop out or not....the tapering process stays the same.

In your situation, it seems too coincidental for this to be happening since the missed dose. You have had great windows and times of withdrawal normal. Just give yourself some time....you should stabilize soon . Do all you can to alleviate stress. Distract as much as possible. Keep telling yourself positive thoughts. ❤️🙏
