Wombat: Paroxetine high dose, 25+ years

I don't mind you double checking, sometimes we miss things.

Yep, always good to double check.

LIC & others have quizzed me many times over the years, and I have appreciated the 2nd set of eyes.

The only question mark would be the accuracy. I am doing everything the same, but maybe it could be better? Not sure.

Why don't you talk us through exactly what you are doing, step by step...I know it appears somewhere in your topic.

List each step on a separate line (if you are comfortable, of course). Let's see if anything jumps out.

I'd be very interested in the equipment you use. Syringe sizes, if they've been changed etc.

This was the reason I went to a micropipette. I knew how sensitive I could be to changes, and I wanted to be certain of accuracy.

When you reduce by 5%, it can be a really small reduction with a syringe, depending on the size you use. Syringes just ended up not working for me.

I figured if the likes of Dr Horowitz used a micropipette, it tells you something about the importance of accuracy.

As LIC said, your drug is a beast, so let's be certain of the accuracy.

Your body probably hasn't caught up yet....this drug is a beast.

But this is absolutely a very real possibility as well.

One of the reasons I chose a 1:4 (paroxetine in mgai to water in ml) ratio is for more accuracy with a 10ml syringe. Here's my math with a visual example. Example A shows a 1:1 ratio, where a small de

Ok.

To start with I have a 40ml Medicine cup which I put 40ml of water and then weighed to double check it was 40ml. I put a mark at that level, which was very close to the mark on the cup. I then also used my 10ml syringe to measure out 40ml of water and it also came to the mark. So I am confident that my 40ml of water is correct.

  1. Put tablet into measuring cup and crush with end of teaspoon

  2. Add 40ml water using 4 x 10ml syringe. Double check with mark on cup

  3. Stir

  4. Sit for 30mins

  5. Stir and take 1 x 10ml using 10ml syringe

  6. Stir and take 1 x 4ml using 10ml syringe

  7. Stir and take 1 x 0.6ml using 2.5ml syringe

  8. Total 14.6ml (equals 7.3mgai)

The syringes used are "medicina reusable oral tip syringe".

I am still using the same batch I bought in March.

You are right, getting the 0.6ml can be tricky to get it perfect.

It could be as simple as that.

I can't remember at which dose I started using the 2.5ml syringe. I'll see if I have it written in my notes.

One more thing .... I don't weigh my tablet, which as LostinCanada said could be an issue too. Although up until now, that has seemed to be ok.

I would like to ask some questions regarding the micropipette.

If I can find it, I plan to get the one LostinCanada recommends in the tapering section.

BRAND Transferpette S Variable, 1000-10000 µL D-10000 DE-M

I would get the 1000 to 10000ul which would be 1ml to 10ml.

Do you know if I will be able to measure the .00 amounts? Eg. 9.26. I know I could get the 9, just wasn't sure if it would do after the decimal place.

So for example, I am on 14.6ml

I would take 10000ul + 4600ul??? Maybe.

And then if I wanted to do 2 decimal places could I do that?

Sorry, convoluted question. Basically just wondering how many decimal places this one can do. Hope it makes sense.

5.5% for the month. Held for 2 weeks and then dropped 2%.

@Wombat that's a lot and mayby it's just caught up on you .

I was fine dropping 3.% per month for 3 months with no major symptoms then Bam , I've had to hold now fir 3 months . Just hold that's what I'm doing .

On Paxil since 1995. Seroquel added 2014 after withdrawal crash. History of too-fast tapers/reinstatements.

21 April 2025 taper two drugs at once

Paxil 4% Seroquel 3.5% per month

that ended up being too much and changed to one drug at a time

13 Jul 2025: 4% Paxil cut

29 Jul 2025: 5% Paxil cut

6 Aug 2025: began hold

Oct 2025: changed from liquid to powder and accidentally took 10x Seroquel dose for 2 weeks by mistake

23 Oct 2025: returned to liquid with accidental 4.7% Seroquel cut

 Holding both drugs to stablize

Holding at Paxil 8.25 mg / Seroquel 6.5

Paxil taper

22/4 8.23  29/4 8.20  5/5 8.15 13/5 8.05  3/6 8 11/6 7.95 18/7 7.5

Thanks Cheeky, that's what LostinCanada thinks too.

Yep. Holding is the plan for the next little while.

Hey Wombat, you are spot on here, your proposed Micro Pipette can measure 1000-10,000 uL

So as you said 14.6mL would be 10,000 & 4,600 uL

If you wanted to measure 14.67mL would be 10,000 & 4670uL

IMO this is the one to go for sure.
