January 31Jan 31 Author @NT1100B @Chippy I’m exhausted & in a panic. I split my dose yesterday taking 1/2 at 8am and the other 1/2 at bedtime as was suggested to me. I had a terrible night. Awoke about 230 very restless. Worst night ever. Spasms of Akathisia, or that’s what I call Akathisia. An awful restlessness that draws me up into a ball. Think I should have made the timing of the split gradual as recommended in a post by ChessyCat on SA; take the other 1/2 of your dose a hour later each day until you reach the time you want. I don’t know what to do now. Feeling bad and in a panic wondering how to fix this. Do I go back to full dose at my regular time of 8am and then start taking the 2nd split dose an hour later each day, 2 hours later each day or what?? Should I schedule with Horowitz again and see what he says. Are the moderators of SA making the switch to here?? I need to get this straightened out or I think I’m going curl up in a ball and die. Hey Pokey Oh no. This was my worry when you were talking about splitting you dose last year. Yes perhaps you should have moved gradually as you mentioned here. If it was me I would revert back to your old times and sit there and stabilise as much as you can. Then look to switch your dose more gradually from there. @getofflex what do you think? Do you agree? I'm not familiar with how to gradually shift to a split dose, but Chessie Cat's idea sounds very sound. But for now, go back to what you were doing, and wait a bit before you try to change how you dose yourself again. January 31Jan 31 Author @getofflex the drug in question is doxepin. It has 15-18hr half life. It’s the one I’m tapering, not the mirtazapine. I’ve been getting interdose tolerance symptoms that’s been waking me up with regularity in the wee hours with uncomfortable symptoms. Horowitz suggested I take 1/2 dose at my usual 8am and the other 1/2 at bedtime. That’s what I did and it didn’t go well. Much to quick. So I reverted back to a full dose at 8 am and will hold there until I smooth out and try again at a much slower gradual pace. If this was my first taper I probably would have been ok but unfortunately it’s not my first taper.
