March 20Mar 20 Hey @Nickie Evans I am so sorry for all your suffering at the moment. I would certainly not increase the dose anymore. I would start to keep a daily diary with symptoms severity on it rating out of 10, 10 being the worse you could imagine 1 being bareable: Day1 - 5/10 07.00 Woke up 08.00 Took my drug 09.00 Had breakfast 10.00 Got a headache And so on. Post it here for safe keeping. It is often good to do this so you can see how things are progressing. Can you update your signature with just your doses to look like this? 01 Jan 2025 Seroxat 20mg 11 Nov 2025 Generic Paroxetine 20mg 12 Nov 2026 Generic Paroxetine 0mg 01 Mar 2026 Escitalopram 1mg 07 Mar 2026 Escitalopram 2mg and so on...... Time is your friend. A few things to realise here. The switch caused you some nervous system irritation. Stopping abruptly and being off the drug for a while will have significanlty added to this. RI the orginal drug would have been best, but even then it would have just been offering the brain back a little of what was taken from it in the hopes of making the WD symptoms more bare able. You will have still had some healing to do there for sure. Adding back a different drug which doesn't effect exactly the same parts of the brain is less likley to help then the orginal drug. So the situation is now a little more complex. Im not sure if adding in Escitalopram has helped or worsened you from what you are saying. It is hard to track this now with the doses being increased so quickly. Perhaps you could rate using the 1/10 system how you were before RI, after, and after each dose increase? It might help us understand if your body is happy on this dose or not. Hopefully it will help in time with the WD symptoms, if your brain is accepting it as a replacement for the paroxetine. The next few weeks will start to tell this. Either way you now unfortunately have a bit of a journey of healing ahead of you. You need time. Time for the dose to take effect and hopfully ease things a little. But mainly time for your body to start to heal all of this, which it will. It isn't an easy process, it is very non linear and happens in windows and waves. But slowly people recover from these injuries and you will too. We are here for you during this process. We all understand it well. You are not alone. Chippy I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I only offer my thoughts as support. Are you still taking 3mg of citalopram? No I went into crisis 7 weeks ago, referred to mental health crisis team and they took me off it, as like you said it wasn't the right substitute med. They put me on mirtazapine (2weeks at 7.5mg and this is week 5 starting on 15mg) i have chronic anxiety, cant sleep (even on 7.5mg it didn't help with sleep) struggling still to eat and this past 10 days i feel as if I've been given speed, the street drug, I don't want to be here anymore, I just cant cope, mental health crisis team are discharging me this week, so have put me on a drug thats i keep saying doesn't suit me and now discharging me. I can't cope i just cant Seroxat from 1996 until its discontinuation December 2025. 14/03/26 Dr advising to start Esitalopram 5mg to help with current situation. May 18May 18 @Nickie Evans im really sorry to read this. The crisis team can’t help because you don’t have a mental health issue, you are in wd and suffering an injured nervous system. Sadly they only have more drugs as an answer. And they don’t help just make things worse. As you’ve not been Mirtazapine long and are suffering from being on it, personally id taper off pretty quickly. Longer you are on it, the more dependent you’ll become. At this point I think being drug free and waiting to heal is your best route. I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. Her anxiety is a natural response to the stress of seeing her mum go through this. She hasnt caught it, it’s a human emotion and response, she will be fine, it’s not stuck with her forever. Please make sure she isn’t drugged too. You know only too well what happens when these chemicals are introduced into the situation. Theres lots of content you can both watch, which might help you understand what has happened to you. I can recommend some YouTube channels if you don’t already know of any, and maybe this might help you both better understand what’s happened?Timelines for recovery are varied. Some heal quicker than others. And of course the suffering lessens over time. Many have walked this path before you. And as awful as it may seem to you, you can deal with it. You really shouldn’t have to, but you can. It’s your choice what you do now, you could try to hold and stabilise on Mirtazapine, but from my experience, I’d say it’s doing you more harm being on it and trying to get off swiftly would be for the the best in the long run.I hate these drugs and what they have done to you. If you hold you may stablise on this dose, I am worried it may take a long time and possibly Mirt will worsen you further. So go to 11.25mg, then back to 7.5, then 3.25mg then zero. You’ve been on 6 weeks so you could try to get off in 6 weeks. Perhaps go to 11.25mg first and see how that goes. One step at a time. You could taper more slowly and follow the 10% rule but I’d want off quicker than that if it were me and it were possible. Listen to your body it will tell you. May 18May 18 Dear @Nickie Evans I am so sorry to hear....I think trying to drop that dose of mirt is a good idea but if you get worse after any reduction, I think it is best to hold if necessary.I know you have been off 5 months but it still might be worth a small reinstatement of paxil/paroxetine at this point... something like 0.1mg-0.5 mg. It is irrelevant at this point what brand you take....it may just be what turns this around for you. It is outside of the preferred 3 months but I have seen it successfully done outside that window of time. That does not mean it is without risk but if you take it and if within 2 hours feel worse, do not take it again but the possibility is you could feel better. This is only a suggestion. You have to weigh the risk/benefit. Paroxetine is one of the worst and the healing time is not fast. Please let me know what you think or if you have any questions. ❤️🙏 Edited May 18May 18 by LostinCanada I am not a medical professional. Very low. Like 0.1mg. See how you react. If it answers the brains need for Paroxetine it could ease this for you. I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. May 19May 19 Author Had a call from practitioner this morning went through again about cant sleep and feel hyper and wired all the time. He's speaking with psychiatrist today and said an antipsycotic might be an option 😫 this absolutely terrifies me, i don't want to have that kind of drug. Also mentioned maybe a reinstatement of Paroxatine as an alternative. Advice please @Chippy @LostinCanada Seroxat from 1996 until its discontinuation December 2025. 14/03/26 Dr advising to start Esitalopram 5mg to help with current situation. (Not started, waiting advice from people here first) Dr started me on Esitalopram just over 3 weeks ago, starting at 1mg, and increasing weekly by 1mg, currently on 3mg. Depression slightly lifted, horrific cortisol waves upon waking, cant function until up for several hours. Anxiety bad. Chronic diarrhoea.

Also mentioned maybe a reinstatement of Paroxatine as an alternative. Advice please @Chippy @LostinCanadaI would most certainly not take any more drugs! Wow. It still shocks me doctors do this. Frightening. I shouldnt be shocked. But really wow.I think considering a very small dose of paroxetine is the only thing I would do. Seroxat if you can get it. But don’t get hung up on getting it if you can’t. Just a generic if needs be. If you can get seroxat just a few boxes will be a start. Each pill is many many doses and we can help you make the most efficient use of the pills so they go a long way.I’d also try to reduce the Mirt dose by 25% and see how that goes. Please buy some micro scales. Gem-20 is a good cheap option. There are more expensive options out there too. We can make suggestions but a gem-20 will be fine. You’ll need this to reduce the mirt and weigh the Paroxetine tablet. Also you’ll want some needleless syringes. 1ml and 10ml of the same brand would be good. All the technical stuff we can help you with so don’t worry. You just need those items at a minimum to get started. If your doctors want you to RI a high dose please don’t do this. I would suggest at this point a tiny dose. You can increase once that dose is established, if required. I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I only offer my thoughts as support.
