Chippy: Short Term use of Mirtazapine WD after CT

Featured Replies

@Wombat Chippy is also doing quite a bit behind the scenes that aren't visible to everyone.

It's nice of you to thank him, he definitely deserves it.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Perhaps you should consider this post an artistic work of fiction written for entertainment purposes.

I agree! Enjoy the summer-window! Can you go swimming? If I’m able to go, I can feel that it somehow does me good every time. I have read about people doing cold plunges for withdrawal symptoms. To me

I cannot even imagine what must go on behind the scenes. I know you are doing a great deal yourself. So thanks goes to you as well. l know that you have suffered incredibly severely the last number of years. I hope for continued healing for you.

Hope you're doing well @Chippy Both you and @Luke alongside other mentors created such a special place for people that struggle with this invisible ailment. Way more positive and educational than when I was lurking around in reddit. I was so devastated when I found out that survivingantidepresasnts was closing down when it was such a beacon of light for people. You guys are the MVPs.

  • 2012 5-10mg escitalopram with very occasional benzo

  • 2022 - Bad reaction to ansium, escitalopram increased to 15mg temporarily until stable, and started the tapering process

  • June 2024 - Tapered off escitalopram and drug free

  • 19/02/2025 - 28/02/2025 - Triple therapy antibiotics for h pylori. Omeprazole, amoxicillin, clarithromicyn

  • 17/04/2025 - Reinstate escitalopram 5mg

  • ??/04/2025 - Trial of different PPIs for stomach issues (omeprazole, pantoprazole, lansoprazole and rabeprazole). I stick to rabeprazole.

  • ??/05/2025 - Trial of Mirtazapine 3,75 - 1mg for appetite and sleep, just take it for 3 non consecutive days and stop because it's too sedating.

  • ??/06/2025 - Trial of different stomach medications like cinitapiride, iberogast, alflorex. Get bad reactions so I stop them after a couple days.

  • 22/07/2025 - Taper escitalopram to 2,5mg for a week, last dose on the 22nd of July.

Current medications: Rabeprazole 10mg on alternating days.

I’m really glad you think that of the site. We were just trying to answer the need for a place like this to fill the hole left by SA shutting. The validation and support I felt by finding the community was immense and I couldn’t imagine there not being such a thing anymore. No one wants to run a forum like this really but I do think it is so important so here we are!

I’m really looking forward to celebrating with you when things settle down and you can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s coming.

What are you experiencing/dealing with?

Any changes improvements?

You are always supporting others but we are also curious about your journey 🙏😊

11 september 2025: 5mg fluoxetine

19 september 2025; 2.5mg fluoxetine

Hey @Sophia

Thanks for asking after me. I’m ok. Up and down. Had a good window last week about 5 days where I felt I could sense some improvement. Felt like the clouds were parting a bit, like I could smell the world again. A funny thing as I hadn’t noticed it had gone anywhere in many ways.

I speak with Luke almost daily and he thinks he sees improvement on last year and I think I agree.

Rough few days though. Lots of exhaustion and head pressure. Hard work! But it’s all part of the process. Another day closer. 😃

Wow I can relate what you said about the smell…. I had a few better moments last few days and I suddenly could smell my fresh laundry from my closet. I even said it out loud.. “wow missed this”..

I hope you and @Luke keep improving. Thank you both for hosting this forum 🙏❤️

Yeah I think it goes and we don't notice until it comes back. I realised it is what makes me feel like I am living, that connection of the senses with the world around us.

On Paxil since 1995. Seroquel added 2014 after withdrawal crash. History of too-fast tapers/reinstatements.

21 April 2025 taper two drugs at once

Paxil 4% Seroquel 3.5% per month

that ended up being too much and changed to one drug at a time

13 Jul 2025: 4% Paxil cut

29 Jul 2025: 5% Paxil cut

6 Aug 2025: began hold

Oct 2025: changed from liquid to powder and accidentally took 10x Seroquel dose for 2 weeks by mistake

23 Oct 2025: returned to liquid with accidental 4.7% Seroquel cut

 Holding both drugs to stablize

Holding at Paxil 8.25 mg / Seroquel 6.5

Paxil taper

22/4 8.23  29/4 8.20  5/5 8.15 13/5 8.05  3/6 8 11/6 7.95 18/7 7.5

Sorry for the tough days dear @Chippy Hope today is much brighter 🩷
