August 16Aug 16 Hey, @Chippy! Firstly, thank you for keeping your story up to date so others can follow you progress!Secondly, I have a question on your sleep in these past few days this week. You wrote on Tuesday and I am wondering how the rest of the week has gone. I myself also have experienced a low point of sleep this week. It was better. Not perfect, but improving. But now for past weeks it has been a struggle. Main catalyst are some few times I have stayed at a hotel while traveling, where the rooms were not supportive - too hot, not my usual blanket, knocked out of my rhythm. And one such night usually leads to a spiral of more bad nights. I hope this will subside soon. Feels like an injury that is very hard to over come and if I put too much pressure on it, it snaps again. Overall, I would say that I am better then I was last year, but I am still in a bit of a low on emotions side. Very hard to be present and see purpose. Especially when such setback hit me. How are you with this? How do is your overall emotional state? How would you rate your progress? Is sleep the main remaining issue for you or are there more things? Jan 2024 – Paroxetine + Alprazolam → severe side effects, increased anxiety, suicidal thoughts.Feb 2024 – Switched to Pregabalin → dizziness, lost effect quickly.Mar 2024 – Olanzapine → cognitive issues, derealization, stopped due to extreme side effects.Apr 2024 – Tried Quetiapine, Trittico (trazodone), no relief.May 2024 – Started Brintellix + Mirzaten (Mirtazapine) 15mg → paradoxical effects, emotional blunting, severe physical symptoms.May–Sep 2024 – Began slow taper of both under new doctor’s guidance.Sep 2024 – Stopped Brintellix.Oct–Dec 2024 – Tapered Mirzaten to 1/8 of 15mg.Dec 30, 2024 – Stopped Mirzaten completely.Jan 2025 – Initial improvement.Mar 2025 (Week 10+) – Severe wave: insomnia, depression, anxiety, derealization.Current – No meds. You wrote on Tuesday and I am wondering how the rest of the week has gone.I find such a short period of time very hard to measure change tbh. It has been ok, one or two rougher than normal nights but I generally try to use many weeks or even months to judge how much better I am sleeping than before.14 hours ago, HopeOfHealing said:I myself also have experienced a low point of sleep this week. Feels like an injury that is very hard to over come and if I put too much pressure on it, it snaps again.I am sorry to hear. I still have not quite found the sense I can manage nights away from home. A big part of my sleep being so good is the control I have over my environment. I am starting to think about venturing away, so I think that is a positive, however it still feels like it could be a way off for me still.I understand what you mean abot the spiral. I think our nervous systems are so sensitive that it does not take much to throw things out of wack.I also agree healing sleep is incredibly difficult, I wish I could understand what happens to make it so unnatural, I don't think we will ever know. It still amazes me to this day that this is even possible.14 hours ago, HopeOfHealing said:Overall, I would say that I am better then I was last year, but I am still in a bit of a low on emotions side. Is sleep the main remaining issue for you or are there more things? This is good to read. I am pleased.Emotions wise In would say I am a little numb, I can be engaged and excited about things, but I feel no fear, little connection with family, never anxious about anything, flat, but not sad. I think I am overall content in life, if not a little frustrated at not being able to do what I am capable of, but I am also very acceptant of it all at this point, whilst remaining optimistic things will improve from here.I too can see quite alot of improvement this past year.Tbh at this point, whilst sleep is a big issue for me still, head pressure is more the problem. It can get quite bad, but the last few weeks it seems on average better too. I still have lots of other little bits and bobs, but yeah head pressure, burning mouth, sleep, numb emotionally, main things. Bit of gut stuff, some aches and pains, heat regulation still is a problem for me, I dunno, it can effect so much of your body it is hard to know what is what sometimes.Hope things keep getting better for you, I think they will. xxxx I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. August 17Aug 17 Thank you for sharing @Chippy! 3 hours ago, Chippy said:gut stuff, some aches and pains, heat regulation still is a problem for meSame here! Have quite a bit of gut issues that seem to be exaggerated by this (such as acid reflux). Also do experience pain/tension in the body. And the heat regulation! Had my hormones checked and all was fine, but sometimes at night I feel hot-flashes. One could say that it is caused by general sleep anxiety, but these happen while I am sleeping. Any suggestions? Oh, and recently I have seen my overall body temperature rise randomly throughout the week. Sometimes weakness just hits the body and I check and it is 37.1 or 37.3. Then it will go down at some point. But there is no real explanation to this. Did blood work, no inflammation, nothing. Have you experienced anything like this? Any suggestions? For sure sleep anxiety can cause this. I don’t have this any more. It’s part of what got me to Mirt. I’ve realised my sleep is not good now because of Mirt not sleep anxiety. So as long as your mind game is good with that. Acceptance is basically the tool to get you there.I find keeping the room cool is best. Light blanket. Windows open. Fan when needed. I find if my upper body can get some air sort of upper chest and shoulders face etc then it’s much easier to keep cool. It has also improved with time. I used to wake sweating in the night. Doesn’t happen now.7 minutes ago, HopeOfHealing said:Oh, and recently I have seen my overall body temperature rise randomly throughout the week. August 18Aug 18 but sometimes at night I feel hot-flashes.Happens to me very regularly at years off.Mirtazapine seems to be cause a lot of physical issues relative to other psychiatric drugs. Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all. Perhaps you should consider this post an artistic work of fiction written for entertainment purposes.
