Cheeky: Paxil and Seroquel Long Term Use

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I’m Cheeky from Australia 👋

I’ve been on antidepressants for many years and am currently navigating withdrawal, with the usual windows and waves that come with it. I’m here to connect, learn, and support others who truly understand this journey. I was also part of Surviving Antidepressants in the past and would love to reconnect with any old friends who might be here too. Looking forward to making some new connections 💙

My thread on SA

On Paxil since 1995. Seroquel added 2014 after withdrawal crash. History of too-fast tapers/reinstatements.

21 April 2025 taper two drugs at once

Paxil 4% Seroquel 3.5% per month

that ended up being too much and changed to one drug at a time

13 Jul 2025: 4% Paxil cut

29 Jul 2025: 5% Paxil cut

6 Aug 2025: began hold

Oct 2025: changed from liquid to powder and accidentally took 10x Seroquel dose for 2 weeks by mistake

23 Oct 2025: returned to liquid with accidental 4.7% Seroquel cut

 Holding both drugs to stablize

Holding at Paxil 8.25 mg / Seroquel 6.5

Paxil taper

22/4 8.23  29/4 8.20  5/5 8.15 13/5 8.05  3/6 8 11/6 7.95

Hi Cheeky

Welcome to the forum!

It's great to see you here!

Thanks for making your intro topic on here. Ive added a link to your thread on SA for you above.

I recognise your name from SA although we didn't interact from memory. It will be great to get to know you 🙂

I can see you are a long time member of SA and been tapering for some years. Looks like you are on a hold at the moment? How's it going?

You are very welcome here and I hope you find the site as supportive and as welcoming as SA was!

For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Hey @cheeky I was talking to Carmie and she makes her own Seroquel liquid...she uses it for 5 days refrigerated without issue. It is so hard to get a clear picture but being cautious is always better.

Were you previously using DIY liquid for paroxetine for multiple days?

@LostinCanada I was just about to send you a message to see if you're okay and then I got this one. I like to be extra cautious with making my liquid so now I just do it daily and I discard the rest, it's better to be on the safer side of things . It's a pain to do it daily, but I prefer to do that then take the risk..

It’s awful to have a really bad day; it can be quite frightening. I’m glad the other days haven’t been as bad. I hope this new batch will work out for you… On a positive note, I, on the other hand, have had a couple of great days feeling really good and back to normal; however, today I woke up with that anxiety, but I’m much better than I was, so I see I’m getting overall better. The waves aren’t as bad either. I’m going to wait a few more months to give my nervous system a break before I start tapering again. I don’t want to risk anything at the moment. This journey is insane; you never know what day you’re going to have. I’m so grateful to have friends like you through this. ❤️

Right, it’s time for an update. I hesitated to write this because I didn’t want to jinx myself but the past week has been fantastic. I feel probably 95% normal, except for one minor off day. Holding has been a huge help and I’ll continue it for a few more months to let things settle. It’s wonderful to feel like myself again and wake up without dreading the day. I’m incredibly grateful for this but I’m also a bit scared that tomorrow might be different. When I’m feeling good I avoid anything that triggers withdrawal, giving my mind and body a break. If you don’t hear from me, I’m probably feeling great.

Yeah thanks but I don't want to be too excited I know too well how these things go. I wouldn't know what to do without you and my other friend here.

Great news, Cheeky, to have a good day, and it’s really important for you write about it, too, for yourself. I found that if I wrote about it, even if I didn’t read it later, I was more likely to remember that I had a good day. That’s so key to being strong enough to put one foot in front of the other.

May 2011 OB Doctor's Cold switch Celexa 60 mg to 10 mg Zoloft sertraline (baby born)

Okay update,

So I feel I'm back into a small wave again for  last couple of days. The anxiety has been coming on all day on and off not sleeping the best at night waking up numerous times . I was feeling so good and it's just so disappointing to feel like this again but anyway what can we do except ride it out?
