How are you going? Are you able to function during the wave?

I'm in a window and wave pattern that can change throughout the day . I am functioning and have worked full time through all of this mess . I have two boys , 14 and 23 that are my life . My life is constantly busy which is a distraction but can be extremely hard when I'm having a bed day . Anyway I'm grateful to be functioning

On Paxil since 1995. Seroquel added 2014 after withdrawal crash. History of too-fast tapers/reinstatements.

21 April 2025 taper two drugs at once

Paxil 4% Seroquel 3.5% per month

that ended up being too much and changed to one drug at a time

13 Jul 2025: 4% Paxil cut

29 Jul 2025: 5% Paxil cut

6 Aug 2025: began hold

Oct 2025: changed from liquid to powder and accidentally took 10x Seroquel dose for 2 weeks by mistake

23 Oct 2025: returned to liquid with accidental 4.7% Seroquel cut

 Holding both drugs to stablize

Holding at Paxil 8.25 mg / Seroquel 6.5

Paxil taper

22/4 8.23  29/4 8.20  5/5 8.15 13/5 8.05  3/6 8 11/6 7.95

Hi everyone, Just a little update on how I’m going. Since 22 April, I’ve tapered my Paxil from 8.23 mg down to 7.65 mg, which works out to an average reduction of about 2.8% per month. I’ve been takin

Dear Cheeky, what a frustrating inconvenience.

However, the positive is that you are on less med - Yay!!! And you picked up on the error. That was very clever of you. I am not sure I would have noticed.

How are you going? Are you able to function during the wave?

I did receive a syringe tip just recently to buy a box of the same brand syringe. (I think they come in boxes of 100). Maybe something you could consider?

Hoping for a quick recovery from this drop and back into a window.

Wombat

I always buy the same syringes but I got a better quality one as the ones I was using didn't last . Such simple mistakes can make such consequences in this process

You are doing so well. Functioning is a good thing.

Who would think syringes could make such a catastrophe!!!

Keep going Cheeky. You will get to the other side of this. Window on its way.

The whole process of withdrawing is difficult enough but when we have to become a chemist and make our own liquid and get all the equipment makes it even more of a task ,which can add so much more stress as we never know how accurate our dose is . I get so annoyed that the doctors put us on these tablets then leave us alone to try and get off and shirk any responsibility. @cheeky I think considering everything you are doing great and I strongly believe you will get to the other side 🙏

@cheeky I strongly encourage you to buy this micropipette.

https://shop.brandtech.com/en/single-channel-micropipette-transferpetter-s-adjustable-de-m-p13154.html

It is the on Dr Horowitz used for his tapers.

It is super accurate, lab quality.

If you decide to purchase it, use your syringe to measure a dose. Then measure that dose with the micropipette. That way there will be no changes. Also measure your water with the micropipette for the mixture. This would be the most accurate way.

Hope this helps.

I did buy one but it was the wrong size and I can only use it once I get to the lower doses . The syringe o bought was the brand Baxter that dr Jozeff recommends for his patients .
With a micropipette do you withdraw the amount you need to take and if I'm using two  syringes one for the 8ml and the 1ml syring for the .50ml would you just use that instead of both ( I hope that makes sense )

Yes

would you just use that instead of both

Yes

But I think because you are on a larger dose, you could always use the micropipette to remove what you don't take and then drink the rest.

I am glad you mentioned the size because I never thought about it being so small.

I'm so sorry to ask you these questions when I know it can be ultra confusing when our brains aren't all there😞

just to summarise i

just wanted to double-check the most suitable micropipette for my setup, as my volumes are quite large.

  • Paxil: I dissolve a 20 mg tablet in 40 mL of water
    → concentration = 1 mg = 2 mL
→ my current dose is 8.25 mg = 16.5 mL
  • Seroquel: I dissolve a 25 mg tablet in 50 mL of water
    → concentration = 1 mg = 2 mL
→ my current dose is 6.5 mg = 13 mL

Because my doses are 13–16.5 mL per medication, it seems that most standard micropipettes (e.g. 0–1000 µL) would require many repeated draws, which could actually increase variability.

From what I understand, a larger-volume pipette (around 1–10 mL / 1000–10,000 µL range) might be more appropriate, as it would reduce the number of draws and improve consistency.

Does that sound like the right approach for my situation?

Yes as long as you can get a pipette from the same company. They have one that size. I think using the best equipment that we can afford is the way to go.... especially when we know we will get years of use from it.🙏❤️

Yes 100% I just worry that I live in Australia and they may not ship to my home . I think I have to find a reputable place in Australia to buy one . They also come with the nozzles on top that need to be replaced each time so that could be a hassle if I buy overseas

Why can't it be simple????

I know right 😞

because there is a 4% difference between my old syringe and new syringe how do I know what dose I'm really taking now? I'm really confused. Should I go by the new syringe as a medical grade?

Paxil taper

Hi Cheeky,

I was researching micropipettes last night. It absolutely did my head in. There are about 10 different sizes to choose from. And then working out ul verse ml.

I think I would find it too expensive to buy more than 1 micropipette. I think I will wait until I get to the lower doses before I make that change.

Also getting one from an Australian company would be a good idea.

I also dissolve in 40ml water. I think the largest micropipette is 10ml. So that would be 4 draws. Too much variability possible? And then I would need to get another micropipette for getting smaller doses.

It is all so confusing.

As for what dose you are actually on at the moment .... Is it possible to weigh your dose? Maybe it is too light.

I'm so sorry that I can't help you more.

We will nut this out together. I'll keep researching.

Sending love

Can you use the old syringe, draw up your dose with it, put that dose in a new jar...draw up that dose with the new syringe. What ever the new syringe reads, use it as your dose.

This is where you can buy the micropipette in Australia:

https://www.rowe.com.au/rowe/Products-BRAND_transferpette_S.htm

Apparently the nozzle/tip can be rinsed with water immediately and it works fine for multiple uses. It will clog if you don't rinse it right away. If it starts to clog, you can feel the button being stiff when you are drawing up your dose.

You can buy 200 nozzles/tips at a time but that will last for years.

No, you can get bigger sizes, it will save me having to use two syringes

So that particular pipette would take you to 1ml? That would be good for these higher doses. And admittedly it is going to take me many, many years to get to 1ml.

It is worth giving them a call. They will help you get exactly what you need. Maybe if you and @cheeky each buy one, they will give you a discount. Worth a try. Check them out on YouTube: Brand micropipette
