April 14Apr 14 Dear Cheeky, I’ve been reading your recent posts and thought I’d share my experience. When I purchased a micropipette, I found that 1ml measured with my syringe was not the same as 1ml measured in a micropipette. I started to get anxious about the changeover. Here’s my example: I was crushing a 5mg tablet, mixing it with 10ml of water, then drawing out my 1ml dose. (1ml dose / 10ml water dilution) * 5mg tablet = 0.5mg dose At the time of my changeover, like you, I found that there was a 4% difference between my syringes and micropipette. So, while both the syringe and micropipette showed the same readings (1ml and 10ml), I knew one of them was 4% out, so I was actually taking: (0.96ml dose / 9.6ml water dilution) * 5mg tablet = 0.5mg dose. So, despite the 4% difference, proportionately, things were the same. That said, I treated the changeover as another change and held my dose for a month as a result. Also, I’ve seen some weigh their syringes with the dose in them as a double check. Don’t overthink it. Once you switch to the micropipette, you can trust it. Also, I’ve seen some weigh their syringes with the dose in them as a double check. Don’t overthink it. Once you switch to the micropipette, you can trust it. Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it and it's made my morning. I don't crush my pill as it resolves in water after 30 minutes , there dose seem to be particles in the water, but I think that's just fella. Is there a reason to cross the pills beforehand and do you recommend it? I look forward to receiving my new micropipette, I just want accuracy. On Paxil since 1995. April 14Apr 14 Dear Cheeky, I crush my tablet as it does not dissolve in water. I want to make sure it is as evenly distributed in my DIY liquid as possible. I saw LostinCanada post a video somewhere of someone doing just that. I can see very small remnants of the pill casing in the liquid, but other than that, it becomes a consistent, cloudy liquid. Remember to shake the DIY solution before each dose. Lately, maybe it is obvious, but make sure you measure both the dose and the mixing solution (water in my case) with the micropipette.
