Cheers mate, doing my best to float. I’ve felt better this last week from my set back so I guess I’ve got a bit more healing to do

Hi everyone

Really struggling at the moment, just feeling really activated a lot of the time with a permanent state of depersonalization. I think that workout really did a number on me, it’s been over 3 weeks and still feeling it.

I have a question about my omeprazole. I really want to get off it, it’s not doing my body any good. I was contemplating a super slow taper. The capsules contain near enough 50 beads in each. If I tried taking out 1 bead a week for a few weeks to test the waters?

I think that is a great idea. So my understanding is omeprazole slows down the metabolism of lexapro. As you lower it, you will feel like you are lowering lexapro. But done carefully, I think this is a very good move.

@Johan1233 I have responded to your pm here, as it is better if your story is all in this thread. This helps others to help you, and it also means that when others read your story, they get the full story.

About 3 weeks ago I went to the gym(I had been 3 times prior to this in a 2 week period but only light isolation movements) and did a relatively intense leg workout(hack squats, leg press etc) the day after about 24 hours after I felt something wasn’t right and have slipped into some awful WD.

Could the workout be responsible for this? I know it’s not just normal wave and window pattern but something that’s been triggered by something. The only other explanation is that my medication is faulty. It just seems a coincidence it was the day after the workout

It's not possible for us to definitively state what caused this setback.

However, pushing yourself too hard does seem to have caused setbacks for others. If this is the case, all you can do is give it time whilst taking it as easy as you can and you'll likely come out of it in the end.

If you feel that the medication is faulty, you could state this to your pharmacist and request another pack from another batch to see if this makes any difference.

Are you still taking the liquid version, and is this being made by you or a compounding pharmacy?

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Perhaps you should consider this post an artistic work of fiction written for entertainment purposes.

Hey @Luke. I guess I’m like 90% sure it was from the workout and like 10% my medication. My anxiety brain wanted to believe it the meds. I can accept the workout as I can avoid that going forward. But if it was the meds then I fear I’ll never get better.

I am still on the liquid version of lexapro. It’s called cipralex, it comes in a 15ml bottle which I constitute at home with an insilin syringe. Something I’ve been doing for the past few years

Thanks mate

Could be either...just don't fight it. See what the next few days bring. Taking one bead less is a 2% change of the PPI and the drug can affect up to 50% of lexapro so it is like a 1% reduction.

Hopefully it will settle quickly.💯🙏❤️

Definitely and it has to do with histamine. This is what a search said:

I am tapering off Lexapro on a very low dose 1.5 mg. I just had a can of mackerel and it has caused me a major wave. I'm wondering if it's a histamine reaction.

Yes, what you are experiencing could absolutely be a histamine reaction. Canned fish like mackerel contains exceptionally high levels of histamine, and there is a well-documented connection between SSRI tapering and a temporary hypersensitivity to histamine.

Why Tapering Lexapro Makes You Sensitive to Histamine

• Central Nervous System Hyperarousal: When you taper off Lexapro (escitalopram), even at a very low dose like 1.5 mg, your central nervous system enters a state of hyper-reactivity. Your mast cells (the cells responsible for releasing histamine) become much easier to trigger, and your brain's ability to process sensory and chemical inputs is temporarily compromised.

• The "Histamine Bucket" Effect: Mackerel naturally accumulates histamine quickly when processed or stored. Eating it dumps a massive amount of dietary histamine into your system all at once. Because your nervous system is already destabilized by the taper, your body’s "histamine bucket" overflows, triggering a "wave" of withdrawal-like physical or emotional symptoms

Just ride it out...I have histamine issues so if that is the reason, riding it out is all you can do. I would check out sticking with low histamine foods and avoiding histamine liberators for a while.
