You're experiencing a morning cortisol spike. Our bodies naturally increase cortisol levels to wake us up and get us moving, but the effect can be extreme when you have anxiety, too. You need to do something to physically burn off your energy-walking, running in place, etc. You'll find you feel better afterwards. June 5Jun 5 @Chippy gave you some great advice for not focusing on every new symptom. The symptoms aren't the issue--its the fear behind them. You're in the "scanning" trap, where, once you leave one symptom behind, your mind starts looking for a new one. Your anxious mind needs that fear to survive. If you work on the looping thoughts and fear, your symptoms will decrease. We've given you some simple things like distraction and calm breathing to help you, but you really need to make an effort to put them into practice if you want to make progress. Recovery isn't going to come from a pill--recovery is already inside you. Started Paxil for GAD in 1999 Unsuccessful taper attempt in 2006 Paxilprogress helped with a successful taper completed in 2009 Using therapy and CBT to manage my anxiety I offer advice based on my experience. Nothing I share is intended to be medical or therapy advice.

June 5Jun 5 Here's an idea. Try to write out how you'd like to feel, except don't use the words "but" or "scared". Write something affirmative that you think you can work towards. That will help you break the thought loop.
