Healing_s: Is this the process?

Hi!!

Another question that I cannot find an answer to it. I feel that most symptoms are trying to settle. Still even if my mind is relaxed I feel anxious, so physically I feel my heart beat and some general vibration on my body. Even if I’m not having and thought loop. I’ve experienced high anxiety already during this process but right now if I’m a little nervous about something, minor nervous feeling, it feels like even if my mind is comfortable, or relaxed, my body is experiencing anxiety. Like if there’s a disconnection between mind and body. Is this normal?

This is VERY normal indeed. I have a had mild 'chest anxiety' recently, most of my neuro emotions seem to have vanished after about 9 months, but this recent sensation felt very physical, no mental connection at all, I was just observing the sensations, it's weird!

Hey everyone, i could use some clarity…

I had two good days, i even could chill on the couch seeing my thoughts going through, with minor anxiety, just being there and being fine. I had a really great night, sleeping 8h of good sleep. Yesterday intrusive thoughts started to come harder, my anxiety is minor and my heart beat doesn’t start to beat like crazy. Again at night, i had difficulty to fall asleep, not feeling rested. I feel very exhausted of trying to keep sanity. Because I just don’t know what to believe in or what this is.

Hey @Healing_s

What you describe is literally text book WD! Text book symptoms, text book waves and windows non linear symptom pattern.

The fluctuating symptoms are just signs of healing/adaptation taking place.

Hi @Chippy

Thank you for your support, sometimes just reading it, makes our loop just settle.

I really feel that sometimes I’m going crazy. The line between being good and being bad is just so thin, that it’s so easy to loose our minds on it.

And in the end we just want to heal, to remember we had courage in the first place to go through this, even if we didn’t know what’s coming. I just want to feel stable. And i think it’s very important to remeber how being “normal” feels because we just forget about it in this process 😔

You are not. It is very hard sometimes as we get glimpses of how things were before and then we can't quite believe our own experience, but believe it, feel advocated for here.

We do. You do have the courage, it isnt going anywhere, just some days it is harder than others. The main thing in this is to try to forget about the goal of stable, it is coming but if you seek it too hard it only serves to hurt you more. We must take one day at a time, radically accept our symptoms and that we can't go back, focus on the day and only this day, and trust in our bodies amazing ability to heal. xxxx

Hi everyone

Huge answers these days (with bad moments either). And I hope these can also help others… one of my major psychological symptoms is DR. Everything is a why, going in a circle trying to find some deep answers. The past few days I’ve been having these old memories, that come along with feelings (does anyone relate?). And finally seem to actually relate with these feelings. Like if my brain is somehow unblocking old sensations (somehow like a new achievement). So I’ve been relating this with DR. Every time I can relate with an old/new emotion/feeling is like if DR loose power. Is like if reality is making more sense and things feel more familiar and relatable. Does this make any sense?

Another thing I notice is that (at least for me) I’m starting to develop a new pattern. Morning start with high cortisol, making me stressed and alert. And most of the time this goes through most part of the day.

By the end of the day, things come with more clarity, my nervous system calms way down and I can feel myself again, like if there’s a new old me returning to surface. The big alert system goes off, and the world has a lot of new possibilities again. Like if I can even consider going out to dance all night or just have a moment with friends, or simply stay comfortable in my couch just being there, but i feel most of all that I’m in the same frequency as everyone else (not wanting to sound crazy)

Does anyone relate with any of these situations? This is really weird and amazing at the same time!

That doesn't sound crazy at all. Heightened anxiety in the morning followed by a calmer evening is very common among those in WD. Personally, I think your brain is healing and is trying to sort your emotions and feelings out, to try to differentiate what feelings and reactions are appropriate to a given situation. Its like breaking a limb, and you're slowly testing what it can do as you heal. The brain is an amazing thing and can heal itself given time and patience.

Yes I have old memories and it sounds better to say, association. And they are annoying in some way. I feel they are interrupting me. I see that these looping thought or intrusive thought are "just" a part of your anxiety - you are in some kind of dream-like freeze response. And it's hard to step into reality, literally. A lot of people with psych drug-history (WD) are saying that mornings are the hardest thing and everything become better in the evening.

I want to ask you, did you noticed that anything became wrong already when you were still taking drugs? Or everything was completely normal?

@The Dust I actually feel good with these memories, they come in moments when im doing things automatically, like cooking or taking care of clothes. And I embrace them. Like if I’m letting in a comfort feeling. So far it’s been a good thing. I do feel that somehow my mind is also remembering me how I used to be and feel about things.

About intrusive thoughts sometimes I’m not anxious at all, but I get anxious when I cannot relate with reality and start asking the why of everything, like I don’t understand the meaning of things because I cannot connect with them. (I do understand this is it)

2 hours ago, The Dust said:

About this, not that I recall. I didn’t wanted to start drugs in the first place, i was exhausted of work, and i was at a moment where i couldn’t see how to make the decision that was important for me. So, instead of starting therapy, the fastest way to be fully operational was advising me on drugs. 😓

Last year I began to consider that I was stable enough (personally and professionally) to stop meds, so I looked for the advise of my doctor that told how to do it… in a month and half… well you know the rest of the story. The only thing I might relate to this was that I hadn’t a very good mood, like if when I didn’t want to do something or to go somewhere I just didn’t do it, very assertive and upset, even if others were upset. But no wrong changes in behavior or physical.

Thanks for your reply! I am confused because of me.. I don't know how to summarize the things...

It's interesting that some people have issues when they are on some drug and after quitting everything can become even harder. On the other hand, some people like you, start struggle after quitting.

If it tells you anything, I feel the same way. When I was on drugs and after drugs. On every occasion i can think about who I am or how I behave in some situation and and the same time I make some association from the past... Or I am thinking "how is this social situation constructed"... You mentioned meaning... I feel like I have to "translate" and "explain" everything to myself... I am thinking "Did, I in this particular moment, acted/behaved the same way as I was at this particular moment in the past??" And everything can happen out of nowhere... Spontaneous1 Like you say, I can prepare food and it happens... And yes, in the evening I also feel and see clearer.

I don't know... Are we sharing the same creepy "dreams"?

I understand this in a way that person is stuck in some freeze response, because something changed in the body. Depersonaiization/deprealization is associated with anxiety, but, as you, see, just one particular thought or association is not necessary unpleasant. It can be pleasant. But why this way of thinking/processing is happening? It's a consequence of something.

I hope it makes any sense to you!

If we are…At least remember you are not alone! This can bring some comfort.

I’m a very curious person, always have been, so during this process I cannot just sit and just let it be.

For me DR started a few days after total stop. Like if somehow my humanity and emotions have been turn off. And all things just kind of lost sense… (I was outside walking my dog in effort and didn’t get why people were gathered in a coffee or why cars were moving). So this for sure totally freaked me out!! I thought I was losing it.

I searched the internet for information, I even asked AI why was i feeling this way (it actually been helping me to get some logic into things, with caution and an appropriated prompt, and always asking for científica references and double checking information)

I translate DR as watching a black and white movie with no sound and with no emotional connection. If there is no emotional connection why are people just doing things? Where do they want to go to? What do they want to reach?

So how I was without this emotional connection I couldn’t get the point. I was just watching the heartless, empty process of things. It didn’t make any sense. Still I was very operational, I am on a full time job, I travel but I was just watching things happend.

When I first started to get this emotional response (reward) to things somehow things started to make sense again. Slowly, just like a bit of emotional reward, but they are here now.

I do come to think that taking out drugs its such a huge cut to the brain that it does need to restart all its connections from scratch. It needs to shut down and slowly charge, and heal, and try to restart things. And testing if levels are enough. I do believe in this, as I come to feel better and improve.

It's great that you still have curiosity despite DP. And thank you for taking about depersonalization with someone whose curiosity was "eaten" by - depersonazation long ago.

The problem is DP is hard to describe. It's hard to find the right metaphor. By saying - black and white movie with no sound and with no emotional connection - you found a great metaphor but it's hard to find the perfect metaphor. That's probably the reason for my confusion and that's why you can't answer to my question - if we are experiencing the same thing.

It's also hard to describe every single aspect. You said "no emotions", which is correct, but what if there are no positive emotions anymore and the only thing that is still there are just few negative, painful emotions?

Being observer from the outside seems a fair description. I sometimes feels that there is an invisible preventing me to react or response.

I really want to ask if this behaviors seems familiar to you: I always feel that I have to rethink a particular situation: what they are talking about? Why are they doing that? What I am doing that? What is everything about? What's the point of this situation?

Need guidance!

Hello everyone, had just a beautiful days last weekend. But the week has started very difficult, with difficulty in sleeping, yesterday I couldn’t even going to work because the night was really bad.

Today I had the worst moment with DR, where I was questioning the reality in front of my eyes, not knowing what was real or not. this is very very difficult and I don’t really know what’s going on. How can I feel good some days and in the next the wave is even harder than before?

I’m really lost and not knowing what to do.

Wild fluctuations from one day to the next are very common in WD. Its absolutely miserable, but taking one day at a time is key. The fact you had a good weekend means you are healing, even though you hit waves on the recovery journey. When you hit a wave, try not to compare one day to the next; recovery takes place over months and you can't gauge it day-to-day. Doing some simple calming exercises like timed breathing (4 seconds in, hold for 4, breathe out for 4) can help with the physical symptoms and calm your mind. You can do this!

@mstimc60 this feels so off. Because so far this was the most extreme thing that crossed my mind. That made me freeze. Totally like if I was losing it. I don’t know how can I manage it if it continues like this. How can I cope with this? And how can I see if I’m not going crazy?

Hi @Healing_s . I can assure you that you're not going crazy. If you were, you wouldn't know it. You recognize that this isn't normal and you want to get relief--that's perfectly normal and a good sign. Do what you can by using coping methods until the wave passes, and don't lose hope. Anything you can do to stay grounded will help. There are very simple tai chi exercises on YouTube that help with mindfulness and bringing your mind and body together in sync. You can also do something as simple as looking around your room or outside, and name five things you see, then describe them in as much detail as possible in your mind. This wave will pass.

Yes, absolutely. It takes time and patience. You can decrease the impact of some of the symptoms by using coping skills until the wave passes, but unfortunately sometimes you just have to hang on from one day to the day till you hit a new window.

Yes, it happens to many people. Here's the thing to keep in mind when you get hit hard. During withdrawal, negative and frightening thoughts will occur, and they will not always be the same. Symptoms can change daily and even hourly. To maintain its control, anxiety will hit you in many different ways, just to keep you in a constant state of agitation and fear. It sounds like your experience elevated your heart rate so you're feeling pounding in your head. Try to use some of the calming methods we recommended to get your body and nervous system back in balance. I know how scary this is, but you will recover.

Dear @The Dust it’s really hard to describe it, because we think about things no “normal” person puts into question. We get so outside of the picture that we question the deep roots of our existence.

And even our mental sanity. Like today, I went to limit with if the moment I was experiencing was even real, my brain just exploded. Last Monday I was at a dance classe (that I’m trying to take) and for a second everything stoped, went silent, no feeling, so just people moving in the classroom?? What was that?! Like somehow we were just crazy people making some random dance steps all together but with no purpose or feeling. It’s like if you get soulless.

At first I just felt the bad things, like they are laughing, why can’t I get that feeling too?! Or like a very present example, people are vibrating with world championship, I couldn’t get why so much hapiness? I couldn’t feel it. When the heat weave happened I felt the world was going to end the next second, like if we were going to burn in the second after.

I totally relate to the questions you are doing. But try to come back to the present moment, try to focus, or go for a walk, try to do anything that takes you out of the observer point. I think it happens most when there is a sensation that your brain doesn’t remember who to tag. It may sound crazy but (after what we are going through what’s crazy right?) when I get hungry it’s like if my brain gets confused, and if I eat these thoughts get calmer. 🤯

Hi everyone.

once you see the good days you don’t want to come back to the waves. It’s been a very difficult weeks since I had those good days.

My sleeping is getting worse, I cannot manage more than two hours of straight sleeping. Waking up with cortisol out of nowhere, every hour. The moment i fall into sleep, it’s like if a bell rings and i just jump out of sleep. I get these heat waves, like if i had a fever, and I’m constantly waking up.

Beside the sleeping, i have these blood sugar pikes that awake me out of nowhere, or keep up with me during the day. And when i try to eat, my stomach refuses to accept food, and i cannot manage to eat properly.

I stopped the tryptophan supplement as i was not feeling well.

I’m feeling very down as I cannot see a good way to go through this. The only good thing is that my nervous system is calming down. I don’t feel that anxiety that I had been feeling for the last months. I feel relaxed but my body doesn’t want to cooperate.

2019 - 2026 - velafaxine 75mg + sedoxil 1mg

14/03/2026 - withdrawal - sedoxil 1 pill each two days until total stop for about two weeks.

Velafaxine - 37,5 mg for 1 month until total stop.

14/04/2026 - final taper day.

tryptophan supplement - 2 months and half. Stopped on July 18th as I was not feeling well.

Hi @Healing_s, I’m sorry you’re struggling. Although it may not feel like it you’re still very, very early in this process and there is endless room for further improvement. It’s great that you can already notice that your anxiety is better. Your physical symptoms are very normal WD symptoms that will improve with time. Please try to keep your strength up — if you’re having trouble eating, try to consume high calorie foods or even meal replacement drinks if necessary. Your body needs that energy to heal. You will be ok 😊.
