@Need to End I can see you are getting some great support here from others. 😊

Just to say, some of what you are experiencing is possibly wd from tapering through and not holding. It is worth considering holding and letting your brain catch up a bit. I’m slightly concerned you think getting to zero will resolve everything , but that isn’t likely going to be case. Going quickly could make your post zero phase harder and give you pwd. Prozacs crazy long half life might delay this as well so you wouldn’t know the full effects til many months off the drug. Trying to get some stability now at these lower doses would be my advice, and then taper a bit more cautiously from here out, with some pauses on route. Hopefully that will mitigate the issues you may have after stopping.

Im sorry for all the difficulties you are having atm. Breaks my heart truly it does. These drugs make a mess of very decent people’s lifes. We all get it and are here for you.

Does anyone know why I am still having panic attacks/panic constantly when taking 1mg of Klonopin a day?

Likely due to tapering at a pace which you're finding difficult to tolerate.

As I've repeatedly said, you might want to consider slowing down, introducing further holds etc.

Holding for a day or two when you get worse is very short.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. This was on the page of @Nemina I thought it may be useful for you.

I just found this video by Angie Peacock. I think it’s very basic, but very good. It also includes a little exercise, which I find helpful.
https://youtu.be/VH6L9K17Dls?is=AWdgJPgMkHviK7G_

„In this video I explain the most important concept I teach in my coaching groups and with clients: Your nervous system is communicating through symptoms.

When people come off psychiatric medications they often experience anxiety, insomnia, dizziness, intrusive thoughts, POTS-like symptoms, nerve pain, and hypersensitivity. These sensations can trigger fear and send people down endless medical (and alternative health) rabbit holes.

But there is another way to approach this.

Instead of fighting, fixing, obsessing, and fearing every symptom, the goal is to learn how to allow the nervous system to heal without constantly signaling danger back to the body.“

Thank you all for the help and feedback.  I can’t thank you enough.

my concern with holding is I’ve held before at several does including 3.6mg for months and nothing significantly changed.

My body. Did not do well with Prozac just 3 days in back 12 years ago - I was on the floor in a Complete panic and they switched me off it immediately.  I should have never agreed to try it again all these years later but I did.  The SI and depression got so bad once I started it 2 years ago and I’ve been tapering ever since for 2 years.

im scared holding is just wasting time as it seems the drug just doesn ever settle in my body.  What are your thoughts on that?

April 2024 to May 2024 - 10 mg Lexapro/day

May 2024 to present Prozac - tapered from 20mg starting dose - lots of cut and holds

Down to 1.35 mg as of 08/27/26

Also added 1mg Klonopin/day April 2025 to 6/10/26 then dropped to .875 mg 6/11/26

6/25/26 dropped klonopin to .75mg

I think it’s very hard at this point to work out what’s wd and what is your reaction to Prozac. I would just be mindful and open to the idea of introducing some little holds here and there to try to help.

That's a valid concern.

Are you experiencing any ramping up of symptoms from tapering? My impression was that you were but I could be misunderstanding this.

4 hours ago, Need to End said:

As @Chippy said, it's nowhere near as definitive as this. What does seem fairly consistent is that people can and do recover in time off of these drugs.

You're balancing the risk of taking the drug and the effects that causes, against stopping too quickly and badly destabilising yourself. Destabilising yourself with too quick a taper does seem to extend healing timeframes, but still I don't think it prevents healing and most people go on to recover.

There's usually no obvious "right answer", you must listen to your body and balance the harm done by taking the drug against not rushing a taper too fast. If you're tolerating the drops ok and aren't having a ramp up of symptoms (ie. the symptoms are the same you've always had from prozac), that suggests you can keep going and get off of it.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. I don't feel like my symptoms are ramping up.  I think I feel the same as I did when I was at 3.6mg.   Its so hard because I haven't felt good or safe for 2 years but I don't think anything has gotten worse in the past 60-70 days.   Just feel scared, anxious, depressed, hopeless etc... all the time and cry and have SI.   But those things have been there for quite some time now.

Hey @Need to End,

I just wanted to reflect something back to you based on what you’ve been saying.

You’ve mentioned more than once that when you hold, nothing really improves, even after months, and when you reduce, you don’t feel worse either. That’s actually an important pattern. It suggests your symptoms may not be strongly tied to each dose change at this point, but more in line with an ongoing adverse reaction to your med, which you also had years ago.

Because of that, I think what @Luke said in his recent reply makes a lot of sense.  That is,  in essence, if your reductions aren’t ramping things up, it seems reasonable to keep going slowly and gently rather than feeling like you need to stay stuck waiting for a stability that hasn’t been showing up with holds.

I also  hear how much pressure you’re under trying to make the exact right decision. Like @Chippy said, your recovery doesn’t depend on getting every step perfect; your body can still heal even if the path isn’t exact.

You’re not doing this wrong, rather you’re paying close attention to your body in a really difficult situation, and that matters.

Hi all,

I've been on various psych drugs in my lifetime but currently only taking two.  I'm on a very low dose of escitalopram as well as 3.7 mg of mirtazapine which has helped me a bunch.  I'm slowly tapering down the SSRI with the goal of discontinuing it sometime this year.  Well, I guess that's enough about me for now.  Hope smooth tapering for everyone!

Current Meds:  8/25 -     Escitalopram 2 mg   (from 5 mg)

                          1/26 -      Mirtazapine 3.7 mg

Past Meds: 11/2015 - 5/2022     Escitalopram 10 mg  (switched to venlafaxine)

                   5/2022 - 8/2025      Venlafaxine 150 mg

                   5/2022 - 5/2024      Mirtazapine 7.5 mg

                   12/2019 - 9/2024      Abilify 10 mg

Just to say I think @Gaucho has summed this all up perfectly. If you can’t see any difference in your symptoms, then continuing to reduce in the micro way you have been is certainly what you should do.

I think you have been doing a good job listening to your body and getting off the drug. Some just have to do that. It’s not a nice position to be in but you’re dealing with it really well.

Rather than add supplements you’ll likely be better off it you use a nutritious dietary approach. NAD+ relies on a number of precursors. A Google or AI search should give you more information.

Thank you.  I did a bunch of research on google and AI and found a lot of positive info on how it has helped in recovery and with brain health.   Also spoke with a doctor yesterday that deals with just SSRI recovery and she strongly suggested it.   I was hoping someone here might have some anecdotal feedback. 😞

2014 to 2022 - 25 mg zoloft/day

Oct 2022 to Jan 2024 - 10 mg Lexapro/day

Feb 2024 to March 2024 - 25 mg zoloft/day

April 2024 to May 2024 - 10 mg Lexapro/day

May 2024 to present Prozac - tapered from 20mg starting dose - lots of cut and holds

Down to 1.35 mg as of 08/27/26

Also added 1mg Klonopin/day April 2025 to 6/10/26 then dropped to .875 mg 6/11/26

My partner used it for months and saw no benefit. I don’t think there’s a lot of independent research (I.e. not done by supplement manufacturers). She does however find benefit using MCT oil.

Sorry guys - also has anyone worked with the peptide NAD+ ?  I have read/heard amazing things about this peptide's ability to aid in withdrawal and brain recovery.

I would be very careful adding new things when your system is hypersensitive @Need to End internet search will bring up many miracle solutions that in practice are far from being useful in general let alone in your current situation.

As long as you have no clear deficiencies I would let the system rest and work more on acceptance, the power of resistance is enormous and sometimes overpowers the withdrawal symptoms themselves.

I understand the desire to fix, we are all there at times, but patience, acceptance and a lot of time are the best cures for our situation in my eyes at least.
