I know it’s tough @Tracey . For me the best thing to do in regards to self care is accepting and allowing. I find this helps as a sense of safety comes not from doing (self care) but not reacting. Easier said than done. Every little bit counts 🤗💕

Yes acceptance is key and it takes the pressure off an already exhausted body.

Self care and the worry you should be doing this and that is just too tiring.

That is a good way to explain it, a sense of safety comes from not doing.

Dear @Tracey I am so sorry to hear about the panic attack. I hope you find some rest now. One is so fragile, when the nervous system is injured. But You wont break, keep being gentle with yourself. Acceptance is like being a supple blade of grass that bends in the wind. We won't break; we'll stand tall again. You're doing a great job, Tracey, hang in there; it'll get easier...

I am worried that my homemade suspension may be causing some of my symptoms and instability.

I try to mix it well each morning but it won't be exactly the same each time. I am going to make a fresh batch every second or third day now.

With all the moving stress I think I have been a bit quick in my morning mixing to distribute it evenly. I will pay more attention.

@RachelSusan you did a homemade sertraline liquid taper and others did on SA.

Were you really thorough mixing it everyday?

Would making it more dilute so 2 parts water to 1 part tablet which is 2mg per ml make it more accurate ? I remember you diluted yours alot as you got lower for tiny dosages and reductions.

Guess I am trying to eliminate variables or potential causes in my long hold. Of course my huge changes , grief, moving etc is a factor.

I am reluctant to use a compounding pharmacy due to lack of flexibility in dosage and timing, also costs.

New head symptoms have developed past several weeks. Otherwise the usual stuff still.Nausea is relentless on and off .

Thanks @Tracey for writing on my page. I am so grateful for such sweet people on here. I think of you often as well.

I do compound pharmacy capsules because my doses became so low to measure out specs of powder. I tried home-made liquid and did not like it. Maybe Mirt is not the easiest to do liquid-wise or the pipette I used was just awful in terms of measuring anything. Compounding is expensive but I figured it was the only option I had left. Do what works best for you. It looks like you are holding from your signature.

Please tell me how you have been doing. I see a panic attack recently. I have them from time to time and have learned to breathe through it and remind myself it will pass if I let it works its way out. It was not always that easy when I would get them, though.

You mentioned not having a purpose on my thread. It has been a while, so I don't recall work that you had done before. But I will say this, it is really helps to have one to ground the mind, body, and soul. So if your purpose is to connect with peeps on here, that is a good one. It helps you stay connected with others, share your story, and encourage (which you do so well). I know we can tend to lose our passion for things when not feeling our best. Maybe you can make baby steps to getting back into what you once really enjoyed. I cannot exercise like I used to, but I will do a little bit to get back into it as self-care. What would you say are some goals for yourself? You can keep that close to your heart or share them here. I am sending you prayers for necessary upliftment to see and move into those purposes.

♥️ Take care my friend!

2 Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice (fear); but rather of power and love and self-control (a sound mind).

Anti-histamine Withdrawal Video-Explains a lot (This is not me.)

@Tracey

Hi Tracey,

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Just to clarify one thing, I actually didn't make my own liquid from crushed sertraline tablets. My doctor prescribed the commercial sertraline liquid. Then, once I got down to very small doses, I diluted the prescribed liquid with additional water so I could measure much smaller reductions. That let me make tiny dose changes without changing the medication itself.

Because I started with the prescription liquid, I didn't have to deal with keeping crushed tablet particles evenly suspended, so unfortunately I can't really say how thoroughly a homemade suspension needs to be mixed each day.

I hope some members who have more experience with homemade tablet suspensions will weigh in on your questions about mixing and dilution.

In the meantime, try not to assume you've done something wrong. Withdrawal symptoms can fluctuate even when we've been very careful and haven't changed anything. I know that's frustrating, but it doesn't necessarily mean your suspension is the cause. It could be, but it might not be. Still wise to double check what you are doing.

I'm thinking of you and really hope things settle down for you soon. Be kind to yourself, you've been through a scary experience with the panic attack, and I know how unsettling that can feel. 💚

I am not a health professional in any way, and I do not give medical advice. These are only my opinions. Any decisions about your medical care should be discussed with a qualified medical professional.

Hi @Tracey I highly recommend compounded liquid if you can afford it. Takes so much hassle and risk of mistakes out of the equation. I use a reputable compounding pharmacy in Sydney and they post to wherever. The solution is stable for 90 days. Message me if you want the details.

Yes please @Catbird I have lost them. Do you need a script for the exact dose you are on or I can I use my existing 50mg script that has slow weaning doses written on it?

@Tracey

Yes I have been worried that I am doing something wrong. 😢. This thought pattern happens to me often in other areas of my life.

Thanks for reassurance. I read the making homemade liquid thread on SA carefully and was following that.

Would making it more dilute so 2 parts water to 1 part tablet which is 2mg per ml make it more accurate ? I remember you diluted yours alot as you got lower for tiny dosages and reductions.

1:2 ratio is pretty standard, but at your dose I would think 1:1 is perfectly fine tbh. I think @RachelSusan is correct, try not to over think your dose. Do the same thing each day. Mix/shake the solution the same and draw the dose up in the same approx period after shaking. It is the best anyone can do. If you keep it consistent the variation will be minimal.

One thing you could do is weigh the tablet that you use to make your solution. There is a surpising amount of variation in tablet weight.

So get an average weight of 10 tablets by weighing them all together and then dividing that weight by 10. Then shave each tablet down the average weight each time before making your solution.

Another thing you can do is to weigh out a proportion of your tablet and make up a smaller batch if you want to have it fresh each day but not waste a whole tablet. So 1/4 of the average tablet weight with a 1/4 if the fluid you currently use for example.

Okay thanks @Chippy , you have reassured me.

I would have to get some scales first, so I will wait until I do the move.

I was hoping to keep doing my homemade until I get down lower, then maybe compound. Will pay more attention to my mixing and drawing up.

A better day today for me.

Here’s the link. https://www.synergycp.com.au/pages/the-laboratory

I’d phone to see what their requirements are. My doctor generally prescribed strength e.g. 2mg/ml, and the required volume to last 90 days. If you ask they will tell you how it’s made such as they already have access to liquid active medication for the base or whether they need to use pills.

Thanks @namastejen1 , I trained as a naturopath 28 years ago. I love animals , nature , a few close friends , healthy whole food cooking but have lost joy for anything past few years. Burnt out.

Just sold my home of 12 years and leaving un a week. So scared of the anxiety and dread if change and coping that is coming up. Moving in with mum for awhile. My cats arrived there 2 weeks ago. Dogs and I driving down. 3 day trip with an anxious older maremma. Huge thing for us all, the change. But I couldn't sustain living here alone and no job any longer.

I am in a big mid life (58) transition and can't see an end to my suffering. Feel like I am in a deep hole and can't see any light. Wd is complicating everything and confusing it all. Not working and earning money or having a focus is affecting me. But all of this year had to be about the huge interstate move. So much grief with two pet deaths.

Sorry if I sound negative but It really is so difficult to get any positive thoughts when in such a state. I always had hope and could access some self soothing or hopeful type thoughts. But they seem so hidden and buried.

Connecting on here is giving me purpose and without it I would be back on medication. Just wish I could feel again and feel ok in my own skin. My small windows are dirty ones and short lived. Guess I have to get past this move first and see what my nervous system does. But totally avoiding stress when you are in survival mode is near impossible. Just paying a bill or buying food is stressful.

Re gratitude, I try but there is 0 feel with it. Just seems like a robotic rational thing to do that is meant to help . That is the hard part with all the self care / self help really.

I am really pleased you are doing so well my friend. 🙏🩷

Bad wave today after a dirty window yesterday. I am getting the late morning headache, cotton wool, tired, negative, not so much tingling today, sort of nausea. Laying in bed. I have been wondering if my blood sugar is dropping at that time. And the other slump is late afternoon after 3-4pm.

Exacerbated by lack of oxygen inside too much and my low sodium. Also perhaps a bit dehydrated. Have had my wood heater going for past 8 weeks.

Finding it so hard to look after myself as well as my dogs and moving stuff. I don't want to go trying to 'work it all out' as too tiring. Cooking and eating best I can around the nausea and loss of interest in food.

Not as good a sleep, so fatigue on top today. Trying to rest.

I hope I make it through the next few weeks. Feel like I am dying as do a lot of us in here.

Eating hasn't relieved my symptoms, so maybe not blood sugar. All too complicated.

Sorry about your wave Tracey, brutal is an understatement! But it is so good you are seeing some windows all be it dirty ones, such a good step forward. AND all this with the stress you are under at the moment. Once you have less on your plate I think things will improve further for you. Most find life changing periods stressful, trying to manage all this whilst in WD show just how strong and incredible you really are.

You have this. One little step at a time. xxxxx

You always manage to give me a gentle infusion of strength and hope @Chippy . Thank you 🙏

This whole ordeal is the most challenging and painful thing I have endured in my 58 (almost) years. Part of me is dying and learning to let go, trusting the process is a monumental task.

I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through @Tracey. For what it’s worth, your courage really inspires me. It takes so much strength to deal with everything life has thrown at you while in the midst of WD. I hope everything will start to calm down for you once you and the pups have gotten through your move next week. They are very lucky to have you. Thinking of you 💜.

I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I am new to this journey and my thoughts are based only on my personal experience with psychiatric drugs. This is a peer site where we support each other on our taper/recovery journeys.

Thanks @SarahMc ,

I wish I felt enough for my animals. I am struggling to deal with caring for them as well as I used to. I could always work out how to help them and tweak their diet or reassure them. I am a shadow of my former self.

They have a better lifestyle here in terms of freedom and space and always off lead walks. When I move that will all change. When my animals are not happy I struggle even more.

I will keep praying and hoping that we are being looked after by some force or energy bigger than myself. xx

I am glad I inspire you 💛

Feeling for you @Tracey big changes underway and with those heaps of uncertainty. At yet you write so eloquently. I truly hope the trip down south is uneventful, maybe even pleasant in some way. Feeling so unstable and highly reactive. I'm sorry I ever started tapering. It brings so many challenges and I just don't have the energy to keep going. 😢

I am really so sorry @Catbird . I have had those sentiments myself in regards tapering. I had no idea it would be so traumatic and exhausting.

I really hope you can get through this rough patch and gain some strength and peace. You have come so far and you deserve some light and hope. One day at a time dear @Catbird . Please be kind and gentle with yourself, you are so worthy and loved here in this community. xxxx Hugs

You always manage to give me a gentle infusion of strength and hope @Chippy . Thank you 🙏

This whole ordeal is the most challenging and painful thing I have endured in my 58 (almost) years. Part of me is dying and learning to let go, trusting the process is a monumental task.

Thank you @Fullhealing . Wish I could see thd end. I appreciate your support given your own struggles at the moment. Hope you are hanging in there and giving yourself the love and care you deserve. Let us stay strong together. 🩷Love back you xx

It's there, I promise you! one day this nightmare will be a distant memory, just hold on and stay strong and brave as you are @Tracey It will all be worth it.
