I deeply understand what you say and feel. Sorry for the question but I don't know what "window" can be concretly 😐 Salut Poulette! I got back into a window on Tuesday this week and I'm feeling pretty good. I can't say that I feel 100% normal. More like 50-70%. As I understand, a "window" is a period of time (in my case several days) where my symptoms are dialed down. Everything is much more manageable and I feel better overall. 18 hours ago, poulette38 said: I deeply understand what you say and feel. Thank you so much for sharing this, I appreciate your kindness! ❤️ We will all get better, I'm certain of it. I have also decided to spend less time on this forum. Worrying/ruminating/analyzing everything isn't helping us, we need to take action, step by step. For me, this means figuring out a daily routine with some healthy habits so I can add some structure to my life. Seeing what works and doesn't work. It's a process and I'm doing this slowly. February 21Feb 21 Hey @Niels91 Thx for your answer. What is "wave"? The opposite of "window"? (Aggravation of the symptoms?) I agree with you, we all can do that. What think your therapist about the WD? Mine wants to prescrive me "zoloft" 🤦♀️ We definitely don't talk the same language... February 21Feb 21 Who will want to kill them all ("with kindness" for sure) with me after our success ? 🥲 Seriously, sometimes I ask myself what is worse : suffer their violence or suffer the violence of their legalized poison... He/she can suggest taking zoloft but you are free to say no, of course. In your case, I wouldn't recommend it. Your story indicates that you had an adverse reaction to the medications. My therapist (not a psychiatrist) does not have any experience with people who have WD from antidepressants. She did ask about my symptoms and I explained everything to her. She noticed that I am hyperfocusing on the WD symptoms and all the negative things which is making me feel worse. She suggested to "experiment": To look for things that are enjoyable/delightful, to spend time in nature, to spend time with people that I love. Living more according to my values. So now I focus more on implementing structure, good habits and enjoyable things but in small steps so I don't overwhelm myself and it helps 😊 Keep going, you've got this! 2023-06: started trazodone, 50 mg2023-10: lowered dose to 25 mg2023-11: 0 mg 2023-07-04: started paroxetine, 20 mg2023-07-30: increased dose to 30 mg2023-08-26: lowered dose to 20 mg2024-03-21: lowered dose to 10 mg2024-07-10: lowered dose to 5 mg2024-07-26: 0 mg 2024-08-14: reinstated on another AD, this time 10 mg of escitalopram2024-11-24: lowered dose to 7.5 mg2025-01-15: lowered dose to 5 mg2025-03-01: lowered dose to 3.75 mg (with pill cutter)2025-03-26: lowered dose to 2.5 mg (with pill cutter)2025-04-23: lowered dose to 1.25 mg (with pill cutter)2025-05-24: 0 mg Started Rosuvastatin in October 2024 due to high cholesterol. On a break from this med from April 2026 until July 2026.Started taking Rosuvastatin again at the end of July 2026. February 23Feb 23 Hi @Niels91 Yes, almost, he is a "half-psychiatrist," because he is an "online" psychiatrist. Obviously I will not take it... Before that, he prescribed me a sleeping pill because of the insomnia due to withdrawal. Not taken either obviously. Just the days following the prescription, the brain kind of went into 'alert' or I don’t know, and then I only had hypersomnia. In itself is not bad, the body really needs rest after all this and I am usually a heavy sleeper. I will soon have a real in-person psychiatrist, we’ll see what it gives and if it’s more relevant or not. If that’s not the case, I’ll drop it quickly too. I also had a psychologist at the beginning. Like you, she didn't know anything about withdrawal. With the difference that she made me feel like an 'anomaly' by saying 'I have never seen a case like you'. I am already very susceptible by base so with the brain "unbolted" because of the medication in addition, no, thank you, it will be without me. Apart from completely impertinent psychological tricks regarding my situation (I only had a problem at work and that’s what led me to consult her), it didn’t bring me anything or even, kept me sad. She was obviously very little involved (she photocopied the same 'exercise' for me twice). I even had the impression sometimes that she was making fun of me, honestly. She knew that my case was far from requiring medication treatment and she told me nothing. Once the damage has been done, it comes out to me 'but your case is very light, a few sessions with me would have sufficed'. While not giving me an appointment back. Another marvel: I ask her "if a non-depressed person takes an AD, what happens?" His response (shocking): 'Nothing.' Oh, really?!!! I would have liked to make him eat some, to see his "dance" afterwards!! ... So, I am angry about absolutely everyone (doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist...). All this beautiful, extremely dangerous and incompetent people, are totally useless in WD. And totally useless in general. No one knows better than ourselves what we need. Having someone else speak for us can be hurtful. For some people maybe can be helpful. But remember we all don't have brain no more, like before the medication. That’s the worst. My conclusion : we are horribly alone. Like never before, really. But I am happy to see that you have found a good psychologist, that you can trust. Were you able to work immediately in May 2025? Your surroundings understand 'a little' what you are experiencing? Not my case. Being obsessed with symptoms IS a withdrawal symptom. Here a very interessant article about it : https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/forums/topic/10914-what-is-happening-in-your-brain/#comment-199680 Edited February 23Feb 23 by poulette38 About 1 week of st John's wort then 20-25 october 2025 : escitalopram 10mg (liquid) 18 november- 9 december 2025 : Fluoxétine 20 mg (liquid, 10 ml) - 2 days at 30 mg then return to 20 mg because of side effects. Hi @poulette38, I worked full-time throughout 2025 and it was hard at times because of the brainfog, fatigue, anxiety, getting easily overwhelmed, anhedonia, etc. but I managed. My friends and family have a hard time understanding my experience but that's to be expected. both my doctors say it's impossible to still have withdrawal symptoms after quitting escitalopram 9 months ago. The only person who acknowledged my experience (somewhat), was my psychiatrist. You have to go through it in order to fully understand what it's like. And I haven't met anyone else in real-life who shares a similar story which doesn't really help 😅 2023-06: started trazodone, 50 mg2023-10: lowered dose to 25 mg2023-11: 0 mg 2023-07-04: started paroxetine, 20 mg2023-07-30: increased dose to 30 mg2023-08-26: lowered dose to 20 mg2024-03-21: lowered dose to 10 mg2024-07-10: lowered dose to 5 mg2024-07-26: 0 mg 2024-08-14: reinstated on another AD, this time 10 mg of escitalopram2024-11-24: lowered dose to 7.5 mg2025-01-15: lowered dose to 5 mg2025-03-01: lowered dose to 3.75 mg (with pill cutter)2025-03-26: lowered dose to 2.5 mg (with pill cutter)2025-04-23: lowered dose to 1.25 mg (with pill cutter)2025-05-24: 0 mg Started Rosuvastatin in October 2024 due to high cholesterol. On a break from this med from April 2026 until July 2026.Started taking Rosuvastatin again at the end of July 2026. February 28Feb 28 Author Hello everyone, Just wanted to give you all an update. It seems that there was a shift about 2 weeks ago. On February 17th, I came out of a wave and had a good window for 4 days and I then went back into another wave but this time, it's different. I experience anxiety and unease throughout the day and my thoughts are a little chaotic and persistent. My brain is hypervigilant, often checking how I'm feeling, spewing negative and sometimes catastrophic thoughts. I also have trouble falling asleep at times and I sleep for about 4-6 hours compared to the usual 7-8 with more morning cortisol/anxiety than usual. Anhedonia, aversion and avolition is still present as well. I'm trying to make sense of this and I believe this is not just withdrawal but a combination of things. In in the past 1.5 weeks, I've been doing more things "outside my comfort zone" like applying for jobs, going out on my own/with friends, visiting the supermarket when it's busier, etc. The thoughts that I've been having in the past few months were centered around limiting myself or around being very careful and doing less and less, to the point where I started to isolate myself without me realizing it. And so now that I'm pushing the edges of my comfort zone outwards, I believe my mind is protesting. The reason I'm pushing outwards is because I am done waiting to get better and I want to live my life. I want to go out there, meet new people and find a girlfriend. I'm convinced that will only happen when I do things, not by sitting idle like I did in the past months. I hope this intense period of anxiety will ease up as time goes on and that the other symptoms will dissipate as well. Time will tell 😊 2023-06: started trazodone, 50 mg2023-10: lowered dose to 25 mg2023-11: 0 mg 2023-07-04: started paroxetine, 20 mg2023-07-30: increased dose to 30 mg2023-08-26: lowered dose to 20 mg2024-03-21: lowered dose to 10 mg2024-07-10: lowered dose to 5 mg2024-07-26: 0 mg 2024-08-14: reinstated on another AD, this time 10 mg of escitalopram2024-11-24: lowered dose to 7.5 mg2025-01-15: lowered dose to 5 mg2025-03-01: lowered dose to 3.75 mg (with pill cutter)2025-03-26: lowered dose to 2.5 mg (with pill cutter)2025-04-23: lowered dose to 1.25 mg (with pill cutter)2025-05-24: 0 mg Started Rosuvastatin in October 2024 due to high cholesterol. On a break from this med from April 2026 until July 2026.Started taking Rosuvastatin again at the end of July 2026. March 4Mar 4 Author Hi everyone, I am in very rough situation right now. Since last week, my anxiety has been going through the roof and I initially thought it was because I was being more outgoing and such but I don't know... This feels different. I notice that many of my thoughts trigger the anxious response and it is relentless. My mind is racing and is so hypervigilant. This whole situation makes me feel very fearful because it's been a long time since it was this intense. Lots of aversion and fear towards doing things and at this point, I wonder if this is still withdrawal or relapse. Currently debating to go back on an AD but on a low dose to see if it helps because I haven't experienced it this severely. Maybe get some tests done to rule out anything physical. March 4Mar 4 Hello @Niels91 🙂 Do you have any physical symptoms related to your anxiety (tachycardia, tremors...)? Are you facing a stressful situation these days? I think that you were incredibly brave until now to didn't take anything and it would be a shame to start taking your pills again. It can be a wave too. You’re almost at the end of your withdrawal, it seems that it’s the moment during which there is an intensification of symptoms before they disappear. You can distract yourself, go to the cinema for example. Keep us informed ☺️ About 1 week of st John's wort then 20-25 october 2025 : escitalopram 10mg (liquid) 18 november- 9 december 2025 : Fluoxétine 20 mg (liquid, 10 ml) - 2 days at 30 mg then return to 20 mg because of side effects. Stop everything on 9th december 2025 (last dose 2mg 9th december). in parallel prazepam drops (3 to 13 drops at the evening), on november 2025. March 4Mar 4 Hi @Niels91 I agree with @poulette38. It might be an intense wave before it all ends. Don't make a rash decision to go back on meds. You have endured so much without them up to this point. Understand that going back on will just prolong this whole situation and maybe you are so close to being it over! My heart rate doesn't go up very much but my heartbeat is quite heavy and more noticeable. I also notice more fatigue because of all the adrenalin that is being released. I really don't know what is going on right now. I feel like it could be multiple things. It's really hard to deal with this because I really don't feel like myself anymore. All this anxiety and aversion is crazy... I had a fight with my mom last week because she's one of my caregivers and is having a hard time with everything that's happening to me 😢 I have so many doubts and questions. My doctors tell me another thing. And here on the forum, it's once again something else. In the past few weeks, I feel like I've hit a plateau. March 4Mar 4 Dear @Niels91 We all feel that way, unfortunately. I am unsure with all of this as well. How to proceed, what to expect... All is unknown. But I have been burned by these drugs previously. I went off, felt desperate and went on it again and here I am now. In my second withdrawal which is way worse than my first one. Conclusion: never again. Our best option is to stay away from these drugs forever. What comforts me is re-reading success stories. And you know what they all have in common - it gets better with time and healing comes. We only have to be patient. Which, of course, is the hardest thing in the world. Give it more time. At least, wait for 1 year off the drugs (I see it is in May for you). See how you feel then. Many people experience that "turning-a-corner" moment around 13 months. So, imagine you re-instate now and healing was just around the corner! That would suck. I know you can endure. Just listen to your instinct. You will get better. It's a fact. This is just a wave. And waves pass. My thoughts are: In the last almost 3 years, you have gone on and off more than one antidepressant You had mostly successfully tapered off the last one, finishing less than a year ago You've been doing better and able to do more A (hopefully fairly temporary) wave of anxiety doesn't really change that, is is at least fairly likely to be a bump in the road towards getting 100% better Adding in additional drugs, again, to counteract effects of having reacted negatively to going on and off several other drugs is risky, to say the least It doesn't seem worthwhile to me, for possible symptomatic relief for anxiety for several days in a row considering how many years of problems these drugs can cause. Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all. March 4Mar 4 @Niels91 You don't have to apologize for anything. We all feel like this most of the time. If it will ease your mind, definitely do some check ups and tests! When my withdrawal started I spent two months at different doctors thinking I had different diseases. But all tests turned out fine, and most doctors just said it's just my anxiety and wanted to get me back on the meds and add some benzos with that too! So, careful - do the tests but don't let them convince you that you need more psych meds. 🙏🏻 Patience is the best way in this process. Thank you for your well-wishes. ❤️ I hope we all get some relief soon. 🙏🏻 My story: https://antidepressantrecovery.org/topic/87-marina-onoffonoff-zoloft-since-end-of-2020/History:• November 2020 - March 2022: 50 mg Zoloft (first WD - mostly mental symptoms)• July and August 2022: psilocybin microdosing• End of August 2022: medium dose psilocybin• January 2023: reinstated Zoloft 50 mg (but probably experinenced adverse reaction/tolerance/poop-out)• October 2024: started slow taper off Zoloft• September 2025: switched to compounded capsules (second WD started - both physical and mental symptoms)• May 2026: still tapering but in liquid form; currently at cca 0,1 mg Symptoms:Windows and waves pattern of healing. In a wave:• severe DP/DR - reality seems strange and creepy and I feel a disconnect from my life, myself, God and the world around me, deep depression, stuck in my head, disinterest for my previous hobbies and work, hopeless, intrusive thoughts, cortisol mornings...• histamine intolerance, vision problems (eye floaters/VSS/light sensitivity), tinnitus, muscle twitches...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, @Luke. I agree with most of the things you say. I just really hope that all of this is indeed withdrawal and will come to pass. The added uncertainty and the fact that progress is so slow makes everything that much more difficult. It's crazy how negative and anxious my brain can be during these waves. Please share your thoughts. Hey @Niels91 So sorry to hear how bad you are feeling atm! We all understand. It is a hell of a ride this! I can assure you what you are experiencing is WD! 100%! Looking at your footer you came off escitalopram very quickly and used a pill cutter too which is very inaccurate. This will have been an awful shock for your nervous system. You can't treat WD symptoms with another AD. Don't be fooled into believing the medical model. It will be your biggest regret. Once your CNS is irritated further drugs will likely make it so much worse. As Luke has said you have been doing better and able to do more. This is a really good sign. Healing happens in waves and windows and in a wave, wave brain kicks in and makes us doubt ourselves and will we ever recover! Don't listen to it, it is telling lies! I'm still not certain if this is WD or not but I'm gonna go ahead and say that it is the most likely option of the ones I have in mind. Furthermore, I'm happy to share that my anxiety is almost completely gone now. I feel a lot more calm and collected. Seems I have entered a new window 🙂 When this anxiety and aversion rises during my waves, I don't respond, I'm only able to react and go into resistance because it so overwhelming and I start having these obsessive/looping thoughts. Sounds like neuro-emotions to me. When all of this happens, it's worse than what I've been through back when my anxiety disorder was at its peak. Even the aversion and avolition are so much stronger, so much more intense than I've ever experienced... What a hell of a ride this is, indeed...
