First, it may help to realize you're in a mind/body anxiety loop. Your anxious mind is telling you there is something very wrong when there is no real danger, and its activating your flight or fight hormones in your body. By staying in your room and not doing anything physical, your body has no way of burning off that energy, so it just builds up and feeds the anxiety response in your mind.Being alone with your thoughts is the worst thing you can do right now. So what I recommend is you find a spot in your room where you're relatively comfortable. The look around your room. Name five things in your room and describe them to yourself in as much detail as you can. If your mind goes back to anxious thoughts, don't judge, just come back to describing things. If you can, sit near a window and describe what you see. The object isn't to stop the intrusive thoughts, its just to slow your physical and mental response to them so you can get a sense of restfulness. It will be a struggle at first but just keep coming back to describing things. It may seem hopeless now but you can get through this. Started Paxil for GAD in 1999 Unsuccessful taper attempt in 2006 Paxilprogress helped with a successful taper completed in 2009 Using therapy and CBT to manage my anxiety I offer advice based on my experience. Nothing I share is intended to be medical or therapy advice.
April 26Apr 26 @caitlinnathanie I am so sorry about your day. As others have said, you are in the acute stage right now, this can be so hard, we know. It feels like you can't cope, but you can, many have been here before you. You will start to feel better, but for the minute, it really is time, distract as best you can, moving around your room can help for sure if you can't get out side. I know this is so brutal atm. But trust us all when we say you will make it through, just have to hold on, take a minute at a time. Chippy I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I only offer my thoughts as support. Please speak to your health practitioner about your care. This is a peer site where we support each other on our taper/recovery journeys. Chippyim just rlly concerned that i got all these symptoms at the same time at 100. like every symptom im even wondering how im alive typing this. i try to do things like card game w my mom, writing stuff down and playing a game on computer but it jst feels like any moment i cant handle it anymore. im just really concerned that i wont recover bc the symptoms get worse and i genuinely almost cant go for walks. i am in my room trying to do things but i genuinely can not sit in my living room or be in the garden. will the symptoms still decrease when i do the small stuff in my bedroom? i know i shouldnt focus om them but its impossible i literally feel dead. i miss my old life im a really kind and funny outgoing person. i was outside 24.7 December bupropion 1 weekJanuary started Fluoxetine 3-4 weeks. 2 weeks 10 mg then started to get dpdr and panic attacks, they gave me 20 mg for another week i think and then i got really bad panic attacks and dpdr and then 3 days 10 mg and then i needed to quit. Sometimes you have to recognise the symptoms and give them a little attention, but mainly it is best to try to not give them a voice, just learn to float over them. If it is too intense, it is just about surviving each minute, till it lessens. You will start to find little coping skills that work for you. You are so brave, Im so impressed by your courage, this is not easy.5 minutes ago, caitlinnathanie said:i miss my old life im a really kind and funny outgoing person. i was outside 24.7I know, I am sure you were!
