I am sorry you are having a bad day. Does this feel like the normal wave you may have gotten before RI or significantly worse than before RI? Are you any better now?

I cant say for sure but if id take a guess. It might just be due to all the drug changes and simply the fact that WD is incredibly scary and that exhaustion you get from having to deal with these symptoms probably also contributes to feeling depressed. When my WD started. I by now . Offcourse al the stress and

Thanks @Chippy . your kind .This seems like the normal waves. The depression is so hard when it hits. I’m able to do nothing anymore. Like everything is locked and I can’t even lay in the bed. This is day 4 and I just took the 1 mg. I don’t have any side effects until now.

01-2018 fluoxetine 10 mg two weeks

02-2019 started Sertraline 150 mg with 10 sometimes 5 mg oxazepam for sleep- my sleep was not ok after 150 mg but I felt good

01-August 2025 in one moth quit Sertraline because of the symptoms (getting fat, tired and starting to feel some sadness)

12-2025 quit oxazepam

04-2026 because of major brain zap middle of the night started 25mg one week, up to 50mg next week and get depressed and quit. This was way too soon and a high dose.

I also started oxazepam again

17-Mei 2026 started 10 mg 3 days and 5 mg 2 days in the hospital.

21-5 quit Sertraline

I felt better after 5 days and then crashed again

27-6 quit oxazepam

@Chippy i have the feeling my body is not adjusting the 1 mg. It’s hard to know but this is a feeling inside me that my body will not react on the 1 mg (good or bad). Is there a chance that my body does nothing with the dose?

I think this is fear speaking. You have always been worried about the 'low' dose not helping. Hang tight to the plan. Wait 10 days and see what you observe. I am mainly pleased you don't see an obvious worsening due to the dose. This is the most important thing and is the thing we worry about the most. We can updose you gently from here but we must give it time and do it carefully. We are not treating WD just answering the brains call for the drug in the hope we can make things a little easier. Big doses can cause all sorts of issues from what is seen in the community.

Ok good. Yes I understand, and I hope it does help. It may not get rid of it but it may ease it. More drug isn't the answer. Much of what you are going through is simply going to need time to heal from. Hope things ease up soon for you. Let us know how you are.

@Some0n3 are you in wd since January ? Has your depression ( if you have a bad kind of depression) ? Changed its shape? How are you doing in general?

Ive been in WD since like the end of 2024. I can say that my depression has definitely gotten better. I dont tire quite as fast as i used to. When this all started, i used to be exhausted pretty much 24/7 and i had suicidal thoughts everyday but as time has went on and ive learned to accept my symptoms, im in a better place compared to in 2024. I still have quite alot of times where i feel depressed and exhausted but i can cope with it much better and it isnt as frequent as before. Some of my other symptoms like dizziness and brain zaps also arent as frequent although i still have days where they happen often. My main symptoms currently are horrible brain fog, visual snow along with dp/dr. Despite all of this, i can actually function somewhat alright. i can go to the gym multiple times a week and i can spend time with friends and family. i can also spend time with my hobbies. I think that hobbies in general are really important, especially now. so if you can find the strength to do hobbies, doesnt have to be anything major, maybe just reading or something, then i highly recommend you to do that. Also keep in mind that just because ive been in this mess for about 2 years now, it doesnt mean that you will be, everyones bodies heal differently!

@Some0n3 after how long you could say your depression felt better ? I have days when I’m a bit better but the rest off de days are hard. I can read but only in the evening. I just started this journey and my health doesn’t allow me to do much. Some days I only lay in the bed because the feeling in so empty and it’s very blocks everything in my body.

Im not really sure to be honest. But what i do know is that when this all started, i didint know what was happening to me so when i eventually joined this forum, getting knowledge on what's happening and having the amazing support of everyone here along with my friends and family has helped quite alot! It takes time to get better and even if i knew the answer to your question, it wont tell how long your recovery will take. The fact that you have some better days is an excellent sign though! So hold onto those, they are important! Its also best not to compare yourself to others too much. Your body will go at its own pace.

@Saar8srl I am inclined to agree with @Chippy on wanting the 10 to 14 days and see how your body reacts.

And @Some0n3 is correct as to everyone heals at a different pace and time. I've been at zero know coming on 22 months. It is truly a process and given time and patience everyone heals. I do from time to time have my moments, but more manageable and they come and go quickly. You are so strong my friend and you will get through this. Hugs xxx Bernadette

I'm sorry @Saar8srl, I think we all have days where we feel hopeless and lost. I have not had a truly good day in about 10 months, and many days are still brutal. But we know that so many of those who have gone through this journey ahead of us have recovered, and we're no different. This is not you, and you have not lost yourself. You're still in there, and eventually you'll get out of this prison and enjoy life again 💜.

I’m not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice. I am new to this journey and my thoughts are based only on my personal experience with psychiatric drugs. This is a peer site where we support each other on our taper/recovery journeys.

@, your are not alone. Awful depression, hellish anhedonia caused by the antidepressants I took, and amplified by the cold turkey prescribed by the psychiatrist... As you, I was a very enjoyable person, but now it is not me. Hope in time, we don't have any other choice.

Thanks for your lovely words.

my system is trying to get there but it’s not working and sometimes it’s just horrible. I don’t regret taking the drugs but I am pissed of that nobody worn me for the side effects and the proper way to tapper. If I knew this I wouldn’t be in this situation. I started the Ri but I don’t know if it will work and I have the feeling my body is rejecting it. I just don’t know anymore ….

Yeah, if nothing change after RI, or it become even worse, your issues and your condition is probably not WD... Now, how long makes sense to wait you see by yourself... Stay cautious...

2009-2010: Sertraline (50 mg)

2011: Escitalopram (10 mg)

2009-2011: tried Olanzapine (5/2.5mg), Quetiapine  (50/25mg) and Aripriprazole (low dosage)

CT Escitalopram, being free for several moths

2012-2016: Fluoxetine (60 mg)

2016-2017: Venlafaxine (75 mg)

2016: just tried Duloxetine and Maprotiline

2017-2018: Mirtazapine (30/45mg)

2012-2018: Bupropion (300 mg)

2014-2018: Lamotrigine (50/100/150 mg) CT Bupropion, tapering Lamitrogine and Mirtazapine (practically CT, fast tapering)

My problems continue after RI and did for months, so we can't say that for sure at all. Put your crystal ball down, no one knows these things. Not even the medical professionals.

2016 - Sertraline 50mg

2016 - Sertraline 100mg.

I didnt know better and rarely took it consistently.

June 2024 - went down to 75mg

2025 - Down to 50mg

2026 - down to 25mg

April 2026 - hit by withdrawal and kindling

Reinstated April 2026 - 25mg

May 27th 2026 - Upped to 50mg

I'm sorry, but this is not correct. Not everyone in WD improves after RI, and even if they do it can take a long time (sometimes many, many months) to stabilize with many ups and downs. It is certainly not uncommon to become worse before getting better. @Saar8srl please do not worry that you have something other than WD.

I just wanted to say that, at some point, it makes sense to intimately makes a decision if continuing still makes sense or not, that's all and it's quite plausible answer the question if the drug even work, then it's probably not WD or at least the drugs doesn't work in this sense, even though it is WD.

There is always someone who can say that you have to wait for several weeks and then someone who will say that you have to wait for months and someone who will mention years.

Ok, maybe I have to correct myself a bit. Maybe she can recognize that it is not WD, or it is, but same time drugs is not helpful anymore, right?

I don't understand. Did I predict what will happen at some point? I didn't.
