Plateaus aren't all bad. They can be the starting point for future recovery. And remember this is not a linear journey--fluctuations are the rule rather than the exception.

I really don't have any more to tell you other than what we've already shared. Sometimes the best we can do is take each day as it comes. You can and will recover no matter what your anxious mind is telling you. It takes time and patience, neither of which seems to be very helpful when you're in the middle of WD, but you can make it through.

Nobody's going silent on you. Personally for me, our son is visiting from back east. He leaves in three days so we're spending as much time as we can with him. We're all volunteers and sometimes other things take priority. But that doesn't mean we can't empathize with where you are. This is a tough journey, but you're not on it alone.

I know you’re not and I’m sorry for all the posts. This is the most insane experience and it’s so unclear what I should do - taper/hold and what will get me back to normal as I can’t do this much longer like this.

Others who know more about tapering can add their wisdom. But if you can work on some coping skills things will go better for you. Your CNS is in chaos because of the meds and the emotions and thoughts they stir up. Anything you can do the bring back some balance will really be helpful.

If you feel that the holds don't help, you can consider speeding up your taper a little bit, as clearly you don't tolerate the drug well. It's likely that you'll recover in time once you have tapered off of these drugs.

The problem with that is that jumping to 0mg can cause immense levels of suffering. Getting to 0mg safely is the aim of the tapering guides etc.

I tapered too quickly and paid the price.

Nothing I say is medical advice, it is simply my opinion. I am an anonymous person on an internet forum with no relevant qualifications other than being badly harmed by a drug. For all you know, I could be an idiot. You are making your own decisions and part of that is deciding how much to listen to my opinion, if at all.

Story from SA: LukeUK: Remeron/Mirtazapine Severe Withdrawal - Introductions and updates - Surviving Antidepressants

15mg Remeron/Mirtazapine November starting 2022 (severe physical side effects)

Attempted to taper off January 2023, ended up having a major breakdown and going up to 30mg, took weeks to stabilise

1 month taper  to 0mg

Last dose April 2023

Severe withdrawal syndrome with many physical symptoms

Summary: 5 months using Mirtazapine, including 1 month taper ending late April 2023.

@Need to End ultimately you have choose what you think the best option is for you. If you think holding is not helping then continue with your taper. I suspect the hold has been useful for your nervous system even if you have not felt the benefit it yourself.

Learning and continuing to practice coping skills is really important. There is a limit to what we can say that has not already been said mate. We are all here for you though and I wish you were not having to deal with this.

Need to End I see you are going through quite the ordeal with your tapper, I know from experience that it is very uncomfortable and downright unbearable at time, but if you can do anything to distract yourself it truly does help, and yes you are still struggling with your current dose, and as others have mentioned that stabilizing your cns is the utmost importance at this time. I myself had tapered way to fast and yes, I my cns has taken more time to heal than it should of taken but trust the process as uncomfortable as it can be it definitely gets better. I have to alot of time to give myself encouragement even when it difficult to push through the unpleasantness. I do talk to the Lord on bended knees, and cry. I ask the Lord our God to give me the strength to get through one more minute, hour and day. He does listen and has given me so much strength I didn't know I had. You my friend along with so many others are so much stronger than we realize, and energy minute, hour and day our body's are slowly healing and when the moment is right , the Lord our God will bless you with a glorious window, that is as glorious as the sunrise . Stay strong and keep fighting for the Lord never leaves , he heals and makes us stronger. Sincerely, Bernadette

I am feeling exceptionally tired today and anxious. Is it even possible for a drop last night to have an impact on me this am? This is what makes me feel like i cannot get through this. On top of that my industry is continuing to suffer slowness due to this war and now that we are in full on war there seems to be no end in sight. Very scared....

I doubt you'd feel the effects of a drop so quickly. This sounds more like anticipatory anxiety, where your anxious mind is telling you there have to be side effects. Try some affirmation statements like being grateful for being able to do another reduction, and you know you'll be fine.

Try not to project your anxiety onto a future that may or may not be true. Take things one day at a time.

Need to End that is very good news, your CNS is showing you it is working hard to stabilize even as unpleasant as it might feel at times it doing what it needs to. Stay strong my friend and you will get through this process. Stay kind to yourself and give yourself breaks as needed. Distract and time. You got this. Sincerely Bernadette hugs and special thoughts for continued improvements xxxxx🤗
