Accidentally taking a bigger dose a month ago made me even worse.

It doesn’t make sense to me to try to go up even though when I feel like I’m in withdrawal it’s very tempting

I agree from what you have described, going up got you in this mess.

It is such a weird drug because the blood plasma peaks at 2 hours despite its long half life.

Splitting the dose might be worthwhile.

Any thoughts on this @Chippy

I’m with you guys. I’m torn which way to go. I think doing nothing for the minute is the better move. The split dose is the least disruptive of all the moves apart from holding. I’d say wait till your appointment with Dr H and see what he thinks.

So I guess the idea is that a sensitized nervous system would be able to handle an activating medication when it didn’t have to process it all at once…?

And that maybe I wouldn’t feel such a dip in the afternoon…?

Basically. I’d wait till you speak to Mark. See what he says. My gut still tells me a long hold. Maybe the split dose is worth a try.

If mirtazapine weren’t so sedating, I could probably report more of the effects I have during the middle of the night…

It’s such a weird drug in that I can sleep and be activated at the same time

It is a nasty dirty drug, one I’m still paying the price for.

The frustration and fear are understandable @Finni it's so difficult to unbearable to be in such a brutal place but the only way to know is by trying, it is possible that holding on for a long time will balance the system but it is also possible that going down really slowly is the way to go, the best thing is to wait until the appointment and see what Dr. Horowitz has to offer in my opinion.

I so wish there were clear answers..

Yesterday symptoms ramped throughout the day with biggest surges starting at 10:00 am. Most distress around 2:30 or 3:00 pm and on through evening. Vestibular sxs worse during surges. Earthquake, falling through floor feeling. Along with electric and burning sensations that spread and churn in gut and solar plexus. Severe, drilling pain at times in solar plexus.

Pattern has changed in that surges don’t give way to relief in afternoon and evening- symptoms change but stay distressing in a different way- like a “cold turkey” feeling.

By 6:00 .pm pounding whole body, dizzy, panic surges. Eased by 8:00 pm :still symptomatic but not distressed

9:15 pm Mirt

Dizzy, activated after dose

Eventually fell asleep probably around 11:00 pm

5:45 am nausea, pounding body, shaking hands, burning solar plexus and gut, shuddering internally, very dizzy (bouncing, swaying sensations)

I try to distract myself as much as I can, but sometimes it’s impossible and I just have to cry and pace. And just hold on until I talk to Dr. Horowitz on Tuesday

I’m thinking about requesting lab work. All was good in December, but I’m just curious and want some reassurance that everything is working well underneath all of this

I guess I just want peace of mind that mirt isn’t going to toxic. I know that would be very rare, but still…

That’s a great idea Finni.

You could write a post encouraging this and all the relevant details on the advocacy section.

I need to make sure I mention to Dr. Horowitz that one day I feel like I’m toxic and then the very next day I feel like I don’t have enough mirtazapine in my system

Wishing you a peaceful evening/night with a good long sleep @Finni brutal days for us but it will fade, we know how it works and we know we can handle it.

And better to make a neat list for the meeting so nothing is missed.

Yesterday was hard but I somehow managed to get blood drawn for labs PNP ordered.

Many waves filled with rumbling, panic, electric stomach, back, etc.

not as overwhelming or tear filled as I’ve experienced in the last few days.

Very hungry late evening.

9:15 took mirt

9:45 pm Twinges of nausea and increased rocking sensations

10:45 pm : huge wave of intense nausea, sweating, shaking, heart pounding

Eventually eased and I slept on and off

5:40 am electric pressure in stomach and back, pounding body, shaking hands, alarmed by deep stomach heat and pressure , terror waves

Thinking of you @Finni you definitely get the Warrior title too. 🛡️ ⚔️
