remind yourself, this is a lie your senses are telling you due to injured nervous system.

accept your symptoms, and if that doesn't work, accept that the symptoms are unacceptable and ride them out.

Have you tried a cold water splash? Sometimes it jolts the senses and calms one down. It helps me Sometimes

Started 5mg lexapro 10/10/25 for anxiety. Initially helped but had adverse neurological affects in my bladder. Had to stop after two weeks and tapered over a month. From December to currently I’ve been withdrawing since with waves and windows. About 60% better, thank God. Currently using Xanax prn. I will not touch another ssri and will be seeking God and healthy lifestyles.

This will not be your life. Being young gives you a better chance of recovering more quickly. Right now your priority should be finding a place where you feel physically and emotionally safe. As the others have said, whatever your parents were thinking. they are not helping in the least. We're all here to help you through this.

yeah i used to have that.

you just need to work with your symptoms and not against them, accept and try to give them the amount of space they want, while not believing they are reality even with the space you let them control your thoughts and body and emotions, but staying as mindful as you can.

can this also be like the withdrawal created alot of stress and me being scared and it gave me severe dpdr? without a brain injury?

It could, I'm more inclined to believe that the drug shocked your nervous system and created a type of injury, and that it's less likely a withdrawal.

Either way it will heal, nobody knows when but as time progresses you will be better, imagine there are people who been on tens of drugs over decades, which is longer than your period, and still managed to heal out with time.

@caitlinnathanie its probably not an injury they can see with an MRI. But more like a “dysregulation”. Still takes time to heal. Besides, these drugs don’t affect just the brain, they affect entire nervous system.

I doesn’t need to take your life @caitlinnathanie you can have it back. You just need to buy yourself that time so you can heal from this. I wish we knew the path and the length of the path but unfortunately we don’t. We do know the body is working hard for you and putting things right, even if it doesn’t feel like it atm. Just a minute at a time if that is what it takes. Many have been here before you and come out the other side and you will too!

You should do what you have to do to keep yourself safe. But the er will just give you more drugs and we know that’s not a good idea. Plus when you ended up hospital last time it wasn’t helpful for you being in there. So if it were me I would just keep working hard each minute, they add up to an hour, and the hours add up to a day, and you’ll be a day closer to better then, you’ll get a better window at some point. Hang on in there till it comes Caitlin don’t give up. Xxx

This is the key bit. Yes life was hard for you with the stress and previous life experiences, but not like this right? These drugs mess with our systems and are never the answer to life’s problems as you have found out. I wish there were easy fixes to all this but unfortunately there are not.

Please keep fighting Caitlin. I know it feels so hard right now, but you can do this. Like @Chippy said, just focus on getting through a minute at a time.

I agree that the ER is likely not the best place for you. My sister has been to the ER many times for mental health crises and it’s only caused her more harm and trauma. Just keep yourself safe and you will be ok 💜

Hey Caitlan

I don't know if you have read our post on sleep? You may find it useful.

Sleep in WD

Some find Magnesium and or Omega 3 Fish oil calming for the nervous system. We find in WD we don't tolerate supplements well so use high quality ones and try one at a time and at much lower doses than the available off the shelf, so start low and increase carefully. Be careful if you worsen you shouldn't use them anymore.

Others find Epsom Salt baths to be calming and help before bed.

If you find getting to sleep is hard then you might want to try Melatonin, you should start at a very low dose of 0.25mg and gradually increase to find the level that helps you. This could be as low as 1-2mg. Be careful as some find it has paradoxical effects on them, as can high doses.

@caitlinnathanie sending you lots of support and to let you know that you arent alone. i also unfortunately suffer from dpdr, i used to have it mildly years ago but it also got more severe after my withdrawal started. just hang in there and give your body lots of time to heal and remember that you will come out of this. i know that it is incredibly frightening but never give up!

Reallu how severen and how did it gfet better? im so scared its ike rlly bad and severe rn

December bupropion 1 week

January started Fluoxetine 3-4 weeks. 2 weeks 10 mg then started to get dpdr and panic attacks, they gave me 20 mg for another week i think and then i got really bad panic attacks and dpdr and then 3 days 10 mg and then i needed to quit.

Oxazepam 3 days for adrenaline

quetiapine 1 day - made me feel bad so i only took it once.

lorazepam 1 day - got panic bc of the feeling of sedating

Stopped everything 2 months ago, now i have severe dpdr because i was so scared, had a week long panic attacks the whole day every day crying that im gonna die because of feeling of adrenaline and dpdr and I felt really bad. Went to the er a lot of times, healthy. Now I can not get out of bed because of severe dpdr, can not recognize myself at all and im every day more scared.

I know it seems hopeless, but you will recover. Like @Chippy said, right now take each minute as it comes. Your brain is in full alert mode but there is nothing wrong, so all that energy and anxiety has nowhere to go, so it just goes back into making you more anxious. Your anxious mind wants to make you think you'll never get better, but that's a lie. You can. For now, accept that the thoughts and fears will come, but you don't have to react to them. They only have power when they make you concentrate on them. These days are very difficult, but you can get through them.

Severe enough where it feels like my brain is shutting down and almost like my entire nervous system has been anesthesized. Everything around me feels muted and it almost feels like being under the influence of strong drugs, not that i know how those feel but if i had to guess. I also have those out of body moments where it feels like im watching myself through my brain and i feel like im in my own fog bubble, watching everything from the inside if that makes sense. Im not going to lie, most of these symptoms that i listed havent gotten that much better as of now and i have most of these symptoms every second of the day. But what i can tell you is that some of those out of body spectator moments have happened less for me as time goes on. Instead i just remain in this constant brainfog but i hold hope that it will eventually lift. I dont want to sugarcoat it for you, you need to be prepared for the unknown because in reality, the time it takes to get better varies from person to person but i believe that most people do heal. You just have to hang in there and believe that, always hold out hope no matter how hard. We are all here for you. Sorry if this is a bit of a downer reply but there is always a chance that you will heal faster and enduring all of this is worth it in the end so you can get your life back.
