caitlinnathanie: Severe DPDR

@caitlinnathanie Sadly, the process is like this - non-linear with windows and waves. We get some relief, better days and then go back into a wave. But it only shows that the healing is happening and there are moments/days when it can be better. When we feel bad and the symptoms intensify is when we're healing the most. Imagine it as a construction site - workers are working and rebuilding but it will all eventually be built and done and all made new.

It is a painful process but we will endure and be well again. ❤️

💯 This!!

Keep on surviving @caitlinnathanie

guys today is so so bad i just cant seem to make it any better today i feel suffocated, trapped and im going insane today im so sorry idk what to do anymore

December bupropion 1 week

January started Fluoxetine 3-4 weeks. 2 weeks 10 mg then started to get dpdr and panic attacks, they gave me 20 mg for another week i think and then i got really bad panic attacks and dpdr and then 3 days 10 mg and then i needed to quit.

Oxazepam 3 days for adrenaline

quetiapine 1 day - made me feel bad so i only took it once.

lorazepam 1 day - got panic bc of the feeling of sedating

Stopped everything 2 months ago, now i have severe dpdr because i was so scared, had a week long panic attacks the whole day every day crying that im gonna die because of feeling of adrenaline and dpdr and I felt really bad. Went to the er a lot of times, healthy. Now I can not get out of bed because of severe dpdr, can not recognize myself at all and im every day more scared.

@caitlinnathanie Get through today, just survive - that's all you have to do. Tomorrow is another day that hopefully is better. ❤️🙏🏻

My story: https://antidepressantrecovery.org/topic/87-marina-onoffonoff-zoloft-since-end-of-2020/

History:

• November 2020 - March 2022: 50 mg Zoloft (first WD - mostly mental symptoms)

• July and August 2022: psilocybin microdosing

• End of August 2022: medium dose psilocybin

• January 2023reinstated Zoloft 50 mg (but probably experinenced adverse reaction/tolerance/poop-out)

• October 2024: started slow taper off Zoloft

• September 2025: switched to compounded capsules (second WD started - both physical and mental symptoms)

• May 2026: still tapering but in liquid form; currently at cca 0,1 mg

Symptoms:

Windows and waves pattern of healing.

In a wave:

• severe DP/DR - reality seems strange and creepy and I feel a disconnect from my life, myself, God and the world around me, deep depression, stuck in my head, disinterest for my previous hobbies and work, hopeless, intrusive thoughts, cortisol mornings...

• histamine intolerance, vision problems (eye floaters/VSS/light sensitivity), tinnitus, muscle twitches...

Try to move your body a little with a short walk, watch positive content like success stories, games, or anything that can get you out of this awful loop.

The intensity will change, you will survive it! Xx

Exercise that can help reduce cortisol and adrenaline, find a comfortable place to lie down, with or without relaxing music in the background, and breathe in for 5, hold for 3, and exhale for 6, several sets of this, then concentrate on the muscles of the body, start with your hands, contract for a few seconds and relax, do a few sets and move on to another area, give it a few minutes in total and see how it works, it's helped me tremendously today at my peak.

try it @caitlinnathanie nothing to lose

If there is no serious deficiency, I would try first, vitamin D, out in the sun for 10-20 min every day, not during the hottest hours, exposure to the face and hands will be enough, iron through diet, beef, chicken, fish, green leaves, almonds, dried fruits, always better naturally than supplements.

I agree with @Fullhealing . I would be better for you mentally and physically if you get your nutrients naturally. Being in sunshine will naturally left your spirits and the sights and sounds may help distract your thoughts. Taking supplements may merely reinforce your anxious fear of venturing outside of your room/home.

I know i had low vitamin d and low iron,

If you want to take supplements use quality ones and start very low, one at a time and work up, looking for reactions. I personally wouldn't whilst you are so unstable. I would look to do things as naturally as possible IMO. I am not a fan of supplements myself.

It may feel like it’s just getting worse, but you’ve seen little windows and they will come again. As for meds, I’ve been through trying to fix my own withdrawal with different meds and it has not made anything better for me — in fact it has just set me back more and made my recovery longer and more difficult.

You’re stronger than you think Caitlin, you can do this.

I don't ask this be contrary, but what's stopping you from going outside? If its anxiety/fear of falling or being weak, then ask someone to help you and sit with you for a few minutes. The problem is that if you allow your fearful thoughts to prevent you from doing things to make you feel better, eventually you will be physically unable to do them. I had a cousin who was convinced she was falling down when she walked even though she wasn't. That kept her trapped in her room until she really was too weak to get up. Locking yourself away in your room gives your ruminations full control of your mind. I know its frightening and you may not be able to do it every day, but challenge yourself a little. You may be surprised how strong you really are.

This is at the lower limit but not a deficiency. It is better to repeat blood work including all minerals, vitamins and hormones and consult a doctor first, you have a hypersensitive systems that don't need anymore triggers especially if it's not necessary.

You may be surprised how strong you really are.

its too much, looking around, being in my body, its too much i cant do it i cant feel my body or feel like i am actuallyhere my brain can not comprehend anything at the moment its soo much and its 31 degrees ioutside also im on my period those are very heavy for me and i feel so faint i cant do it :( i was doing rlly well doing more stuff but nnow its too much the feelin itself is too strong i can not handle any more

This is at the lower limit but not a deficiency. It is better to repeat blood work including all minerals, vitamins and hormones and consult a doctor.

All these thoughts are your fearful mind trying to control you. Its telling you that you can't do anything but think about your symptoms and its tryin to convince you that you'll be like this forever. None of that is true. Thoughts have the power we give them--nothing more. I know how hard it is to break that thought cycle but you don't have to do it all at once. Just sit at the window and look outside and name what you see. Take things slowly, but even a few minutes spent thinking about something other than your symptoms will help.

I agree, our safe cocoon can become a prison if it is not challenged, long enough and a pattern can be formed that will be difficult to get rid of later, however, I totally understand how hard it is, I also avoid a lot but working on breaking it in very small steps, we don't want to overwhelm the system even more but we do want to challenge it a little mostly to prove to ourselves that we can, obviously I don't mean to stress you, and of course you'll choose how to act, but maybe peeking out for 2 seconds at the beginning could work?
